Chapter 1052 - 1025: Otherworldly People
"But speaking of... Yugen, why have you also become interested in the Otherworld and such things?"
Keihei accompanied Yugen as they walked down a long metal corridor, which was part of an advanced research lab for the Kaiba Group. He glanced curiously at Yugen as they walked.
"Also?"
Yugen repeated the word but quickly understood.
"You mean President Kaiba?"
It seemed that since Atom disappeared, President Kaiba had grown immensely interested in technology to travel to different dimensions. Within a year, he successfully developed devices capable of dimension travel, a frightening level of black technology.
"Yes, my brother has been vigorously developing technology related to other dimensions for years. I’m not particularly interested, but I’ve heard some theories recently."
Keihei tilted his head thoughtfully.
"Let me think, what was it they said... Oh, yes."
Keihei shook his head and said,
"Although we’ve long realized dimension travel and can enter some Elf dimensions, some scholars from our group proposed that the Elf world seems to be an Other Dimension but is actually an extension of our reality.
The reality we live in, the world humans see, is just the tip of the iceberg of this world. How did they describe it... ah right, like a card."
"A card?"
"Yes. The front and back of a card." Keihei said, "If we use a card as an analogy, the world humans live in is the front of the card, while the dimensions of Elves are scattered on the back.
But in essence, it’s still the same card, the same dimension."
Yugen seemed to understand now: "And what is called parallel worlds should be other different cards, is that the meaning?"
"You understand quickly."
Keihei smiled and nodded.
"Yes, that’s about right. Then our research department discovered that theorizing travel between different planes is feasible.
In fact, further studies even show signs that dimension travel might have happened in our world before; it’s just that no one knew about it then."
Yugen frowned: "Someone went to the Other Dimension from here?"
"No, they suspect someone might have come from another world." Keihei said, "But at that time, we knew nothing of the existence of parallel universes, so we didn’t notice.
But because of this, we later designed this..."
As he spoke, Keihei led Yugen to the deepest part of the lab. The metal doors opened automatically in front of the two, revealing a massive device behind.
In the hall’s center was the Earth.
The projection of Earth, a translucent blue phantom, suspended in mid-air with a sacred sense, as if a thin layer of energy enveloped its surface.
"Radar for detecting any global dimension anomaly fluctuations." Keihei said, "Used to prevent any intrusion into this dimension!"
Yugen looked at the floating blue sphere in front of him, unable to hold back admiration.
"Impressive," Yugen said, "Kaiba Group actually has such a thing..."
Keihei also stepped forward to the sphere, smiling: "Well, it’s currently just a prototype, barely meets the design expectations of a global coverage system.
But it’s hard to say how effective it truly is because it will only react if there is really an invasion from the Otherworld.
Yet the Otherworldly People aren’t cabbage, not so easily emerging..."
Yugen hesitated for two seconds, pointing to a red dot on Earth: "Uh... so what does this red dot mean? Could it actually be an invasion by Other Dimensional People?"
Keihei laughed heartily: "How could that be... huh?"
He followed Yugen’s gaze to the red dot on the floating Earth, also stunned.
Almost simultaneously.
An ear-piercing alarm suddenly blared, and a voice inside the lab shouted through the speaker: "Warning! The dimension radar detected anomalies, suspected dimension intrusion behavior..."
Yugen: "..."
Keihei: "..."
Cabbage really did show up.
...
...
At that moment.
The pitch-black spatial rift was gradually contracting; it was violently torn open space struggling to return to its original state.
A blonde man rode on some white floating aircraft, suspended high in the air. He wore a mask, hiding his true face, but the gaze and expression behind the mask seemed peculiar.
"No, this isn’t right..."
He looked at some electronic device on his wrist, adjusting a few things on the wrist device. Soon, it projected a floating screen.
"Wrong, this isn’t..."
The blonde man furrowed his brows more tightly.
"This chaotic history... no, it’s wrong, not like this."
While murmuring to himself, a voice suddenly came from behind him: "What’s wrong, care to share?"
The man was startled. Turning his head to look, he saw Yugen was also suspended in the air, staring at him from a short distance.
"You...?"
The man compared the projection screen in his hand several times before frowning in surprise, "Fujiki Yugen... Duel King?"
Then he shook his head repeatedly.
"No, not like this. You shouldn’t exist; it’s messed up, all messed up..."
Yugen slightly furrowed his brow. This guy seems mentally unstable...
Are Otherworldly People all like this?
The man kept talking to himself: "Could history have been corrected... No, it shouldn’t be. Such interference shouldn’t be enough to shake history..."
Pause, he raised his head, and a cold light shot from beneath the mask.
"Only one way to find out."
Saying this, he lifted his arm, which was equipped with an already activated Duel Disc.
Although he didn’t understand why, it looked like it was time to play cards.
Yugen wasn’t surprised. He came prepared to play cards anyway.
Keihei reminded him through the ear-piece: "Be careful, Yugen. We don’t know what duels with Otherworldly People might be like.
I’ve already notified my brother; he’s on his way to you..."
"Well, sorry to President Kaiba," Yugen chuckled, "He might not make it in time; this might end quickly."
"Duel!" x2
[Yugen, LP4000]
[Otherworldly Person, LP4000]
"I’ll go first, draw a card."
Yugen took the first move. After drawing a card, he raised his eyebrows slightly and chuckled oddly. Then he drew two cards from his hand, placing one in the front field and inserting the other into the back field on his Duel Disc.
"Set a monster in face-down defense position, set a card in the backfield, turn ends."
"Then it’s my turn, draw."
The Otherworldly Person drew a card calmly, and immediately his Duel Disc side wing grid popped out.
"Field Spell—
—Sin World!"
