Chapter 111: If You’re Going to Lie to Us, You Should Lie to the End

"We can’t let him get away." Pei Yin took the lead, flying over with Sheng Yue.

Ling Yanzhi couldn’t just leave Xi Yu, who was unable to fly.

He stepped on Red Snake’s head, and a pair of thin, crimson wings flared to life on his back as he too gave chase to Shi Zhao.

The Level of Emperor Source Star was only a half or a full Level lower than the Imperial Capital Star.

Shi Zhao wasn’t some tyrannical king on Emperor Source Star, but because of his exceptionally high incubation ability, he was revered by its people.

Emperor Source Star supported him with all its might, pouring all its resources into him. He was the center of their universe.

Returning to Emperor Source Star was equivalent to Shi Zhao gaining the support and assistance of an entire planet.

At that point, Ling Yanzhi was confident he could still keep Jian Yu, but it would be much more difficult than it was now.

Besides, Jian Yu’s body had just recovered. They would likely need Shi Zhao many more times in the future.

Xi Yu glanced at the struggling Jian Yu. He stared at the Red Snake beneath his feet, his tone unreadable. "I’ll help you."

Several tentacles extended, relentlessly pursuing Shi Zhao.

"..." The dramatic scene Jian Yu had prepared was being interrupted again and again.

Seeing Ling Yanzhi and the others about to gain the upper hand, she quickly put on a threatening expression. "If you dare touch him, I’ll..."

’I’ll what?’

Jian Yu hesitated, pressing her lips together.

It seemed there was nothing she could threaten them with.

Now, Shi Zhao had become her weak spot instead.

’Oh, no wonder it felt like something was missing.’

’The damsel-in-distress’s mother, sick and needing major surgery; her father, buried in gambling debt; her siblings, born with diseases.’

’Domineering male leads usually use these things to threaten the female lead into submission.’

’What would the female lead say at a time like this? It seems like they always say something that sounds completely non-threatening, yet somehow makes the male lead actually stop.’

She felt terrible for Shi Zhao, but Jian Yu was actually a little excited.

"If you dare hurt my brother, I’ll... I’ll ignore you forever!"

It was stupid.

But strangely enough, that one silly, childish sentence actually made them stop.

Seeing his chance, Shi Zhao blinked in shock and quickly slipped away.

She paused, trying to remember if she’d forgotten her line.

Then she turned back around. "I’ll be back!"

Pei Yin cursed under his breath, "She’s nuts!"

Xi Yu’s tentacles retracted at once. He tilted his head in confusion. "Brother?"

He turned, his gaze fixed on Jian Yu’s small, anxious and frightened face.

’She’s afraid of heights, yet she’s still worried about Shi Zhao?’

’Is this brother she just met more important than him, her boyfriend?’

Frustrated, Xi Yu reinforced his tentacles.

He yanked Jian Yu over, pulling her in front of him.

Their eyes met. Xi Yu’s gaze was dark and grim.

"Why did you transfer? Aren’t we good to our baby?"

Jian Yu lowered her eyes, her thick, curly lashes hiding her expression.

Her gaze fell upon Xi Yu’s uniform.

The uniform’s main color was a pale purple, accented with several moon-white, textured straps. A white belt cinched his waist, delineating a sharp, clean line.

Elegant, yet cold.

It seemed to be the first time she had seen Xi Yu in his top student uniform.

Snapping back to reality, Jian Yu looked around, searching for Shi Zhao.

"He’s gone. We didn’t get rough with him," Ling Yanzhi said in a cool tone, having returned at some point.

He wrapped his arms around Jian Yu’s waist from behind, his lips brushing against the skin of her neck, before finally biting down gently on her earlobe as if to vent his frustration.

"Where were you going with him?"

Jian Yu’s heart hammered in her chest. She reflexively turned her face away.

There was no need for words. A thousand eloquent phrases were less convincing than her actions.

She wanted to run, and she had, in fact, run.

That was enough.

Her cool back was pressed against Ling Yanzhi’s hard chest, the faint, cold scent of leather filling her nose.

The sense of oppression was overwhelming.

Jian Yu turned her head. Her long, curled lashes fluttered upwards, revealing a pair of docile, innocent eyes.

Her chestnut hair was soft, her small face pale and delicate, and a simple, light blue dress accentuated her figure.

Ling Yanzhi bent down, gripped her chin, and kissed her.

It wasn’t gentle or romantic. It was rushed, rough, and driven by an overt, simmering possessiveness.

The fabric at her waist split open, and a clone of Red Snake slithered up to her neck.

It slid down, coiling around her waist, the better part of its body winding around Jian Yu’s slender, upturned neck.

The icy touch made Jian Yu shiver uncontrollably.

She struggled with her arms, trying to push it away, but her wrists were held fast by tentacles, pulled out to her sides.

Xi Yu flicked away Red Snake’s tail with his fingers, his broad palm caressing her waist.

He buried his head, his mouth murmuring, "Baby. Mine."

Pinned from both front and back, Jian Yu found it increasingly hard to breathe, her gasps mingling with whimpers that escaped her throat.

’Kiss on the side of the head, check.’

Ling Yanzhi’s thumb caressed her flushed cheek. "If you were going to lie to us, you should have seen it through to the end. What, you think you can fight back now, so you’ve decided to drop the act?"

His lips casually brushed against her chin, his eyelashes lifting slowly. "Is Shi Zhao really your brother?"

The tip of Jian Yu’s nose was slightly red. Her voice was hoarse. "Yes."

She inadvertently glanced at the crowd below, and the height of over sixty feet made tears well up in her eyes again.

Wasn’t this scarier than a horror movie?

Tears swam in her eyes, a hazy mist veiling their clarity.

Jian Yu’s limbs felt weak. Her eyes held a hint of surrender. "Can we please go down first?"

Her face was flushed, and ripples of tears disturbed the surface of her eyes.

Ling Yanzhi’s gaze swept over their surroundings before lazily dropping down again.

"Chairman Sheng, we’re just a young couple having a spat. Would you mind giving us some privacy?"

Jian Yu froze, the tips of her ears burning red.

She closed her eyes and turned her face to the other side, her expression showing a hint of discomfort.

Sheng Yue stood on Ting Ying’s back, watching coldly. His blue eyes were deep and dark, and an icy aura radiated from him.

Pei Yin couldn’t win against Xi Yu and the others, so all he could do was keep an eye on Sheng Yue.

He forced his gaze away and grabbed Sheng Yue’s arm. "I’ll take you back first."

Ting Ying flapped its wings, descending slowly like a paraglider.

Pei Yin looked up, wanting to join in.

But he found that the three people above had already vanished.

He walked over and patted Sheng Yue on the shoulder. "My baby’s school transfer application—I’ll need you to block that for me. Oh, and if there’s any movement from Emperor Source Star, be sure to let us know."

Sheng Yue stared straight ahead, his expression blank.

His features were stern. "You say that so casually. It’s making me seriously doubt my own memories."

"I’m glad for you, that you’ve managed to identify your symptoms so quickly." Pei Yin swallowed the retort that was on the tip of his tongue.

"If you need Healing, I’ll do it for free."

He turned, leaving behind only an afterimage.

Yin Jiu’s ears popped out.

It started cursing up a storm.

He wasn’t like this back then! So annoying! Annoying!

Master, it was him! He was the one who put on a show and tricked you!

Master, aren’t we going to save Baby?

That damn Pei Yin! He’s always whispering in your ear, saying there’s something wrong with Baby, that her scent is bewitching and makes people lose their minds. If I had known...

Sheng Yue blocked out Yin Jiu’s voice.

His jawline tightened, the aloofness in his eyes carrying a detached indifference that kept everyone at a distance.

This had nothing to do with Pei Yin.

In truth, even now, he didn’t know what he was thinking.

’I want to get closer, to have close contact, but I can’t help but pull away.’
