Why Are the Psychos Obsessed with a Mere NPC?

Chapter 62: Sheng Yue Walks in on the Trio’s Intimacy

Jian Yu stopped and tugged on the hand Ling Yanzhi was holding.

’It wasn’t easy to create this situation. I want to show them a little something, make them re-evaluate my worth.’

Jian Yu looked at him expectantly. "I want to hear it."

Ling Yanzhi chuckled softly.

The bracelet hadn’t been delivered, so he hadn’t planned on leaving this floor anyway.

He glanced outside. Lin Yu had said someone might be following Jian Yu. Even if the bracelet hadn’t broken, he would have come to pick her up anyway.

Xi Yu immediately started praising her, "Baby is so amazing, you hatched it on your first try. The A-level Beast Egg I gave Baby hasn’t even shown any signs of life."

Teacher Hu’s eyes glinted when he heard the words "A-level Beast Egg."

He chimed in loudly, "That’s right! It didn’t even take a minute! If we cultivate this talent, our academy will definitely be in the spotlight at this year’s hatching competition!"

’One minute?’ Ling Yanzhi raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Xi Yu continued like an NPC, "Baby is too amazing. Pei Yin is trash, not even as fast as Baby."

Teacher Hu froze awkwardly.

There was still a world of difference between a Cloned Egg and a real one, to say nothing of an A-level Beast Egg.

"..." Jian Yu cringed at the praise.

The feeling was strange, like paying for fake engagement to boost your numbers, only to find the comment section’s artificial boom was nothing but AI-generated bot reviews.

It was so obviously fake that it made her want to furiously delete all the comments.

"If it’s convenient, shall we talk outside?" Ling Yanzhi said, raising his eyes after receiving a message from Sheng Yue.

"Alright." Holding the report, Teacher Hu followed them out of the incubation room.

He abruptly turned back, looking at the dejected students in the class.

"All of you, get back to your books! If your theoretical foundation isn’t solid, how can you expect good results in your practicals! The upperclassmen from last year read through the entire series of professional texts in two weeks."

Teacher Hu led Xi Yu and the others to his personal lounge area.

He showered her with praise, "Genetic stability is up to standard, defect risk is controllable, hatching affinity has broken the Alliance’s record high, and she hatched a Cloned Egg in one minute. This kind of talent is extremely rare among the lower years."

He hinted tactfully, "The class’s resource supply has been severely cut. Key consumables like Cloned Eggs are scarce. It’s my fault as a teacher for not being useful enough, for not having enough privilege to apply for extra Cloned Eggs for Jian."

Jian Yu lowered her gaze.

’As long as I can benefit from this, it doesn’t matter whether I’m the one who spoke up, or if the teacher is just using me to get ahead. None of that is important.’

Ling Yanzhi’s brows knitted together. "I’ll have Lin Yu handle this."

Teacher Hu was delighted. "Excellent, excellent! On behalf of Jian and our entire class, thank you, Chief Ling."

Xi Yu stared at Jian Yu. "Baby has been wronged."

Jian Yu pressed her lips together, her face filled with awkwardness.

"Actually," Teacher Hu cleared his throat, "you two Chiefs, don’t just see Jian as a new student with no experience and think you shouldn’t tire her out."

He could tell Jian Yu’s constitution was weak. The school board had also instructed him before to go easy on her—if she slept or talked in class, he shouldn’t bother her.

But now, Teacher Hu was unwilling to let such a promising sapling waste her time.

"Jian’s talent might hide even deeper potential. Cloned Eggs aren’t enough to unearth it."

He looked at Ling Yanzhi and Xi Yu, his expression earnest and serious.

"I know you have a lot of resources. Even if you aren’t willing to put in the effort to train her, I hope you won’t look down on her and waste this talent of hers."

Ling Yanzhi nodded, retracting his imposing aura. "Rest assured, Teacher Xu."

Polite, but not by much.

Jian Yu couldn’t help but tug his arm. "It’s Teacher Hu."

Ling Yanzhi paused, raising his eyes in confusion. He studied the teacher’s face for a moment. "My apologies, Teacher Hu."

"It’s fine, not a problem at all. I know I don’t have much of a presence," Teacher Hu said, waving his hand dismissively.

Ling Yanzhi found him more agreeable now. "I’ll have someone keep an eye out. If Teacher Hu passes his evaluation next month, his rank can be adjusted accordingly."

If Class 1 had a higher-ranking teacher, they’d be able to get a larger share of resources.

Teacher Hu’s face flushed with excitement. "Thank you so much."

’It’s a done deal. It’s solid.’

"My evaluation will be absolutely no problem! It can withstand any scrutiny!"

"Mm," Ling Yanzhi nodded, then made a request. "I’ll have to trouble you to take extra care of my girlfriend during class."

Jian Yu turned her head, and she and Teacher Hu stared at each other, speechless.

Teacher Hu reined in his fawning expression. "I take care of all my students."

He never targeted students.

At most, he’d give some special treatment, make things more convenient for someone.

Before leaving, Teacher Hu shot an inconspicuous glance at Xi Yu.

He knew they were waiting for someone else and took the initiative to give them space. "The students are waiting, so I’ll head back to the incubation room. Jian, focus on the theory for now. We’ll have another practical lesson next class."

Jian Yu sat obediently. "Okay, Teacher."

Xi Yu’s brain didn’t want to think, nor did he care about the strange looks from others.

He knew there was something wrong with him, but he couldn’t control it.

Just as he knew Jian Yu had outstanding hatching abilities, all he wanted to do was grab her hands, knead them, and stare at her.

If he could, he’d want to kiss her—kiss her until she cried. That was when she was the most beautiful.

He used to hate the public eye, wanting only to hide. He would never show up on the Imperial Capital Star unless it was for a necessary competition, let alone return to Weis Lan Academy.

But now, he felt that even the air at Weis Lan Noble Academy was sweet.

The moment the door closed, he impatiently pushed her down.

Tentacles restrained her limbs to prevent her from struggling and accidentally getting hurt.

This was Xi Yu’s only remaining shred of rationality.

He forced a kiss on her, fierce and desperate.

Jian Yu’s eyes widened in a daze as she frantically tried to pull away.

Being abruptly force-fed spiritual food, she almost forgot to struggle.

When she came to her senses, her body was heavy and lethargic; she couldn’t even lift a finger.

The air was stolen from her lungs, and her breathing became difficult.

The rims of Jian Yu’s eyes turned red, her frail, soft body trembling slightly.

Through blurry, tear-filled eyes, she looked at Ling Yanzhi, who was standing nearby.

She watched him casually walk over, push Xi Yu aside, and scoop her up by the waist.

Before Xi Yu’s obsessive gaze could turn into battle lust, Ling Yanzhi pushed her back into Xi Yu’s arms.

She was stunned for a moment, finding herself sitting on Xi Yu’s lap.

His tentacles bound her arms and legs to her sides, like invisible hooks.

"Why is Baby crying again?" Ling Yanzhi’s voice was still gentle, but Jian Yu thought he was despicable.

He bent down and gave her a light kiss.

The Red Snake slithered onto his shoulder.

Jian Yu sank into a state of both pleasant surprise and terror.

Tears clung to her lashes, and her entire being exuded a fragile, broken aura. Even the tip of her reddened nose held a certain innocent beauty.

Large teardrops fell, but she didn’t look wretched in the slightest.

The door suddenly opened, and Sheng Yue stood in the doorway, his expression cold.

He was holding a bracelet, calmly observing the scene before him.
