Chapter 1536: Combining them
"There’s something that I want to test. Can you give me some time alone?"
Though Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu looked at Lin Fan with a confused look when they heard this, they still agreed to let him test whatever he wanted by himself.
"When you’re done, show me what you’ve come up with." That was what Ye Qing Huan said when she agreed to this. The tone in her voice was as if she brokered no argument with him.
Lin Fan just revealed a wry smile when he heard this, but he didn’t reject these words.
Once he was in the private training room, Lin Fan took out the painting brush.
However, he didn’t use it as he just held it up in front of him.
With the way that he looked at the space in front of him, it was as if he was imagining what he was about to draw. Even though there wasn’t any paper in front of him, it wasn’t as if that would have stopped him.
But what he was actually doing wasn’t that.
"Convert it and gather it inside of the brush."
What he was doing was using one of the skills that he had obtained in the past to try something else.
Lin Fan wasn’t sure if this would work when he first tried it, but he soon found that it was actually easier than he thought. It even seemed like the brush was more than willing to accept the energy that he was sending into it.
Even though this mana was supposed to be different from spiritual energy.
Mana and spiritual energy were fundamentally different, that was something that Lin Fan had already previously confirmed with his trips to the magic continent. It was the problem that the Dao Sect disciples that had fled to the magic continent had faced in the past.
But in front of his max level Mana Manipulation skill, it wasn’t as if that was a problem.
He had already figured out how to treat spiritual energy like mana and convert it with this skill.
So what he wanted to do was to see if it had any special effects if he were to mix mana and spiritual energy.
Once the mana had been infused into the brush, Lin Fan lifted it up and created a stroke in front of himself. This single stroke seemed to linger in the air and the sensation that came from it showed that it was filled with mana.
But this single stroke wasn’t enough to create a picture.
Which was why he continued creating strokes in the air.
The more strokes that were created, the more that it seemed like a complete picture was being drawn.
After a while, all of these strokes came together to form a single picture.
This picture didn’t seem that special, but it was a representation of something that Lin Fan wanted to accomplish. Which was why the moment that it was formed, he went in to take a closer look at this thing.
This picture was made from mana, so it should be different from the one that had been formed with spiritual energy.
But no matter how he looked at it, it didn’t seem like there was anything different about this painting compared to the other paintings that he made previously.
Seeing this, Lin Fan let out a sigh.
However, this wasn’t a sigh of disappointment. This was a sigh of relief.
That was because during the process of creating this painting, Lin Fan had already felt that there was something different about this process.
Spiritual energy and mana were used in two different ways. It was because of the difference between them that the two continents had developed different systems of power.
When he had been creating this painting, Lin Fan could feel that mana was being drawn from around him to help him form this painting. Unlike when he used spiritual energy alone to form the painting.
This was just how it was when one used mana, it was drawn from the surroundings rather than relying purely on the mana that was inside of oneself.
Since the mana was coming from his surroundings, that meant that he wasn’t draining himself to create the painting. Unlike the previous times when he used spiritual energy alone, which meant that he had to provide all of the energy himself.
"It’ll cut consumption down by at least 80%." That was just the rough estimate that Lin Fan had since he wasn’t actually paying attention when he created this painting. The real number might be even bigger than this.
If that was the case, Lin Fan was already thinking of all the possibilities of using this ability in the future.
There was no doubt that it would help him if he ever needed to use this power.
But there was something else that Lin Fan wanted to test as he stared at the painting that was in front of him.
Without a word, he swapped out the ink brush for another one.
This one was different from the one that he used previously. The one that he used previously was for painting and this one was for poetry.
In an instant, he created several words in the air that he flicked towards the painting.
The same thing happened where the words just entered the painting and changed it.
There was no rejection at all even though the word was made of mana instead of spiritual energy.
But as he thought about this, Lin Fan went back to his previous method.
Once again, there was no rejection.
"It seems that as long as there’s the Mana Manipulation skill to control it, there’s no problem combining the two. But then again, this is a power that comes from a god. If a god can’t convert between the two like this, then no one would be able to."
That was the explanation that Lin Fan gave himself.
If it was a god that was involved, then whatever the result was was normal since it was the power of god.
Other than this, he did notice that there was a bit of difference between those words that were created with mana and the words that were created with spiritual energy.
"Pure spiritual energy is stronger in the end."
Even if he wanted to deny it since he knew that the energy conversion was perfect, Lin Fan had already guessed that this would be the case since this was a cultivation technique.
It was something that was designed to be used with spiritual energy, so it was only natural that spiritual energy would give the best effect.
Lin Fan didn’t stop there as he continued drawing different paintings and manipulating them with words.
In the end, he confirmed that it was possible to use mana to create these things which was the biggest discovery.
In the future, things would be much easier for him as long as he used mana.
This was something that he already knew, but it wasn’t something that he had been able to incorporate into many of the things that he did. After all, it wasn’t as if people would be able to understand the mana that he used.
If he were to do this, it would also expose one of the cards that he possessed.
But when it came to these paintings, they wouldn’t expose anything since no one would be in contact with them long enough to figure anything out.
That was why it was best if he used his mana for these paintings rather than anything else.
There was one more bold idea that Lin Fan did have, but he didn’t test it out in the end.
Rather, it was that he couldn’t test it since there was no one to test it on.
This was something that required someone else here to actually test it on, but he did have a way to try it out.
After setting up the board in front of him, Lin Fan picked up one of the pieces on his side and just held it up in front of him. He didn’t put it down, he just held it up as if he was examining this piece.
But anyone that was sensitive enough would be able to sense the energy that was flowing into this piece.
It was being filled with mana at this moment.
When he was done, Lin Fan hesitated for a second before putting it onto the board in front of him. But since there was no one there, it wasn’t as if anything would have happened.
Even when he walked over and sat down on the other side, there was nothing that happened.
The only thing that he was able to confirm was that he was able to imbue the pieces with mana. But whether that would pass on the ability to use mana or not to someone else was still unknown.
In the end, Lin Fan decided to end things here since he had already gained quite a bit from this.
Only when he came out, it wasn’t as if he could actually tell Ye Qing Huan anything since it involved mana and an entirely different continent. The only thing that he could do was show her the new paintings that he was able to draw, even if she did call them weaker than before.
While this was happening, Lin Fan looked at Xiao Mu as if he was considering whether to let Xiao Mu gain the ability to use mana or not.
But in the end, he chose not to since it wasn’t the right time for it yet.
