Chapter 1537: Source of it all (1)
"Is something wrong?" Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan asked Xiao Mu when they saw that nothing was changing in front of them.
Xiao Mu didn’t seem to know what to say as it looked at the empty space that was there.
Even though Xiao Mu was holding the token and using its power, it didn’t seem like anything was about to happen.
The last time that this happened, there was that painting that had appeared in front of them.
But this time, Lin Fan wasn’t seeing anything at all.
This time, it really felt like Xiao Mu had made some kind of mistake and hadn’t been able to open the array that was hiding the pavilion. Or the simpler mistake was that Xiao Mu had led them to the wrong place.
Xiao Mu didn’t answer that question in the end as it started moving around.
After all, Xiao Mu was certain that this was the right place.
With the information that was in Xiao Mu’s database, it knew that this was indeed the right place for the pavilion that they were looking for. But it didn’t seem like the token that it was holding was working.
"Is there something that has more influence than this thing?"
The more that Xiao Mu thought about it, the more confused it was.
In the end, Xiao Mu went forward with the token in hand in what seemed to be a fit of desperation.
Since it wasn’t able to find the entrance, it was planning on using itself to slam against the array that was hiding the pavilion. If it could do that, then it might be able to create some kind of opening in the array.
But there was nothing like that that happened.
The only thing that happened was that Xiao Mu was turned around and forced back before anything appeared.
It was almost as if there was some kind of invisible hand that had guided Xiao Mu backwards
For Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan who saw this, they knew that it had to be the array that was protecting the pavilion. It seemed like it was quite strong that it was able to redirect Xiao Mu that easily.
Or it could be said that this was stronger than anything that they had encountered before.
But it wasn’t as if this was all bad since seeing this did prove one thing.
"So there is a pavilion here."
After Xiao Mu came back, it didn’t seem like it realized what had happened as it looked at where the array was once more. It seemed like Xiao Mu was planning on heading into the array once more to explore it.
Before Xiao Mu could do that, Lin Fan stepped forward.
Xiao Mu was surprised by this, but it didn’t stop Lin Fan from taking the token from it.
Holding this token, Lin Fan went in the same direction that Xiao Mu had just come from. It didn’t seem like there was anything that was going to change just because it was Lin Fan that was stepping forward now.
However, it seemed that there was something that changed.
When Lin Fan approached, there was a light that came from the token in his hand. With the way that the token glowed, it was almost as if it was reacting to something that was around it.
Instead of being pushed back like Xiao Mu was, Lin Fan actually made it through.
The problem was that he was the only one that made it through.
In front of Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu, Lin Fan suddenly disappeared as if something had swallowed him.
Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu immediately went forward as if they were trying to follow him, but they weren’t able to reach the same place as Lin Fan. The only thing that happened was that they were turned around by the same array and forced back to their original positions.
Ye Qing Huan knitted her brows seeing this, but it wasn’t as if there was anything that she could do about it.
The only thing that she could do was look at Xiao Mu as if she was pressuring it to do something.
But there wasn’t anything that Xiao Mu could do.
Xiao Mu hadn’t even been able to use the token to do anything to the array, so how could it do anything to the array now that it didn’t even have that token?
Once he made it through, Lin Fan turned around to see if he could bring Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu in with him.
As he turned around, he could clearly see the two of them running after him when they saw that he disappeared. But it wasn’t as if he could do anything to the two of them even when he reached out towards them.
It was as if the two of them were nothing more than illusions as his hand passed right through him.
Lin Fan couldn’t help being even more impressed and confused by the array that protected this place. He couldn’t figure out if this was just an illusion or if it was actually taking him into a separate space where he couldn’t interact with the outside.
Regardless of what it was, it wasn’t as if he could do anything about it since he was now trapped in this place.
So the only thing that Lin Fan could actually do was face the pavilion that appeared in front of him. He could see that at least there wasn’t a test that he had to face before entering the pavilion like with the other pavilions.
But he also didn’t believe that it was that simple to enter this place.
"If it was that simple, would there be such a powerful array protecting it in the first place? There has to be something here if the array was this powerful."
Taking a deep breath, Lin Fan slowly moved forward with his guard up. He was ready to react to anything that would have happened.
However, there wasn’t a single thing that happened as he walked past the door.
It was only after he entered the pavilion that he found that he was trapped in this place.
The doors suddenly slammed behind him and he wasn’t even able to touch them, just like how his hands had passed through Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu earlier. But that didn’t mean that he was able to phase through the wall either as there was an invisible barrier blocking him.
It seemed like the only path for him was forward, but he didn’t know where to go either since this place was just a large empty room.
The only thing that was in sight were a bunch of pillars that seemed to be holding this place up, but these pillars spread on for as far as Lin Fan could see.
In fact, he already guessed that there wouldn’t be an end to these pillars since they were part of the illusion of this place to begin with.
Even if he were to walk forward, the most likely thing that would happen is that he would get lost in this place.
But it wasn’t as if he could do anything by looking to the sides either.
When he looked right and left, he found that it was the same in those directions.
The only thing that he could possibly use as a kind of marker was the wall behind him and even then that wasn’t reliable. After all, there was only the single door that was there.
At this point, it was clear that he was completely trapped inside of the array of this place and it would be hard for him to get out unless he figured out the weak point.
"System, do you want to give some kind of guidance?" Lin Fan asked without having any real hope.
As he expected, there wasn’t a response that came from the system.
This was just how it was when it came to the system, so Lin Fan wasn’t surprised.
Instead, he used the token that had let him come in.
Lin Fan squeezed that token in his hand to make sure that he didn’t lose it before raising it up in front of him, hoping that it would do something.
He had hoped that it would light up and show him the way.
To his surprise, it actually did light up and released a beam of light in front of him.
Lin Fan couldn’t help shaking his head with a wry smile when he saw this since it really felt like this was a trap. But thinking about it, this token was the only thing that had allowed him to enter this place to begin with.
Even if it was a trap, it wasn’t as if he had much of a choice at this point.
Which was why Lin Fan started following the beam of light that was released by this token.
Only as he continued forward, Lin Fan was more and more certain that he was being led into the depths of the array. As he had expected, this beam of light from the token really was a trap that seemed to be getting him more and more lost.
"In the first place, why did it light up and let me into this pavilion? Does it have some kind of connection to this place?" Lin Fan thought to himself as he looked at the token, but it wasn’t as if he could figure anything out just by staring at it like this.
At this point, he really was just lost in this array.
