"These talismans are a bit strange."

The way that the elder said this was almost as if he was restraining himself from saying more.

It really seemed like there was more that the elder wanted to say, but he was holding back out of concern for Xiao Mu.

Only it didn’t really seem like Xiao Mu cared about what the elder was saying. It really seemed like Xiao Mu was only focused on making sure that its talismans were being drawn properly.

The way that Xiao Mu was focused, it seemed like it already had an idea of what it wanted from these talismans.

But Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan couldn’t help feeling a bit reminiscent.

After all, the way that Xiao Mu was working on these talismans reminded them of a time that Xiao Mu had been this focused. It had been related to when it had been focused on the poisons that it had been crafting.

If Xiao Mu had the same focus now, the two of them had a small guess as to what it was making now.

No, it was a guess that was almost confirmed by the way that the elder was acting.

The elder was clearly put off by the talismans that were being drawn, which was a good indication of what kind of effects they would have when used.

Seeing the way that Xiao Mu acted, Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan couldn’t help shaking their heads with wry smiles.

Even if they already knew that this was what Xiao Mu was going to do, it still felt a bit strange seeing Xiao Mu doing this.

Seeing the look on Xiao Mu’s face as it said this, the elder couldn’t help looking at Xiao Mu with a concerned look. The way that the elder looked at Xiao Mu was as if it was wondering if there was something wrong with Xiao Mu’s mind.

Then when he turned to look at Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan, the two of them awkwardly turned away as if they couldn’t face the elder.

After all, the two of them really didn’t know what to say at all.

They had an understanding of why Xiao Mu did this, but to explain it...

They just simply didn’t have the confidence to explain it properly.

Seeing that they didn’t say anything, the elder turned back to look at Xiao Mu as it was still experiencing the effects of the talisman. It seemed like the elder was planning on saying something once Xiao Mu was done with what it was doing.

That was because the elder could sense that the aura coming from Xiao Mu had changed.

It was clear that using the talisman had caused something to change inside of Xiao Mu.

This time, the elder didn’t seem as against Xiao Mu creating these talismans as it had been before. But it was clear that the elder still felt a bit strange about the way that Xiao Mu used the talismans.

Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan couldn’t help revealing wry smiles when they saw this since they knew exactly what the elder was thinking.

It was the same feeling that they were familiar with since they had felt the same way when watching Xiao Mu ingest those poisons.

But there really was nothing that they could do since that was just how Xiao Mu grew.

After a few minutes, Xiao Mu stuck another talisman on itself.

The effect of the first talisman was already wearing off, there was something inside of its body that was in charge of repairing it if it was ever damaged that was activating on its own. So the sickly colour that Xiao Mu’s arm had turned had returned to normal as its body was repairing itself.

When Xiao Mu slapped the second talisman on itself, it didn’t seem like it was satisfied with what was happening.

After all, the effects weren’t as good as before.

It did change the colour of its arm, but it didn’t spread as far and it wasn’t as deep of a colour as before.

"It’s clearly a different one, why is it not working?" Xiao Mu muttered to itself before looking at the elder as if it was asking this question to the elder.

The elder didn’t say anything right away as it looked at the patch on Xiao Mu’s arm.

The elder just continued observing Xiao Mu’s arm and how the patch was spreading, but eventually he said, "It’s because of the system inside of you."

Xiao Mu looked at the elder with a confused look when it heard this.

The elder didn’t answer right away again as he just looked at Xiao Mu as if he was looking over Xiao Mu’s body.

But eventually the elder said, "The repair function of your body recognizes some of the functions of the talisman. Even if the talismans you used are different from each other, that doesn’t mean that they are completely different. There are parts of it that are still similar."

Xiao Mu wasn’t as confused this time as it looked at the talismans that it drew.

Since it had learned the basics of drawing talismans from the elder, it knew what the elder was referring to.

After all, the talismans that were drawn all had basic techniques that made up the foundation of the talismans.

So if Xiao Mu wanted to preserve the function of the talisman, then it would have to start with the repair function inside of itself.

During this, Lin Fan couldn’t help feeling a bit confused about something.

"If that’s the case, why does the poison still work on you?"

Xiao Mu turned around and seemed to think about something at first before saying, "It’s not recognized as a threat. The functions of the poison aren’t really that bad compared to the functions of the talismans. They’re considered mild, so my body doesn’t develop any defenses against them."

Thinking about the effects of the poison, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan could argue against that.

Those poisons that Xiao Mu concocted indeed only had mild effects on the body and no lasting effects. So it would make sense that one wouldn’t develop any immunity towards it, even if they did want to.

Xiao Mu continued making more talismans, but this time it seemed like Xiao Mu was aiming to minimize the damage from the talismans. It seemed that the question that Lin Fan raised had helped Xiao Mu identify the problem which it was now trying to fix.

During this time, there was still the same strange look that was on the elder’s face as it didn’t seem to agree with what Xiao Mu was doing. It was just that it was already too late for him to regret the decision that he had made.

After all, he had already given Xiao Mu his inheritance and Xiao Mu had bound itself to it.

So the only thing that it could do was teach Xiao Mu as much as it could.

But during this process, anyone that had sharp eyes could see that the elder’s figure was becoming more and more faint. It was clear that the elder’s time was already limited since he had already passed on his inheritance.

Until the very end, the elder kept giving guidance to Xiao Mu.

When it was time for the elder to disappear, he didn’t stop giving guidance to Xiao Mu and Xiao Mu didn’t stop working on the talisman in front of it.

That was because Xiao Mu was creating that talisman for the elder.

"Good, it seems like you’ve gotten most of the techniques that I have for you." The elder gave a final nod of approval before disappearing.

That was when Xiao Mu finally turned around to look at the elder.

Once the elder had disappeared, Xiao Mu gave a small bow as if to thank the elder for everything that it had done.

Then taking the talisman, Xiao Mu slapped it onto its own arm and allowed it to take effect.

Instead of turning a large patch of its arm a sickly colour like before, this time it only created a small patch. However, it also seemed like that patch wasn’t changing shape as it continued to remain there.

The repair function of Xiao Mu’s body should have done something about it, but it didn’t seem like it was activating.

Xiao Mu revealed a satisfied look when it saw this before saying, "It seems like it works fine, but I’ll have to keep replacing it if I want it to keep working.

Still, it seemed like Xiao Mu had achieved whatever it wanted to achieve as the aura around Xiao Mu was changing.
