Chapter 1547: Trapped in here
As they approached the entrance of the law enforcement pavilion, they could feel the pressure becoming even stronger.
It seemed like they had underestimated whatever was inside of the pavilion. The thing that was inside of the pavilion seemed to be something that was at an even higher level than what they had previously thought.
Though as they were getting closer to the law enforcement pavilion, there was another sensation that came over them.
This wasn’t something that came from the pressure of something powerful alone.
It was the sensation of something that was specifically designed to suppress them.
It was almost as if there was something here that was supposed to keep things trapped.
"Could it be that this place was also where they kept their criminals?"
If that was the case, then it really was hard to guess what was waiting for them inside of this place. After all, there was no telling what would have been the fate of those criminals when they were left behind by the Dao Sect after it experienced its disaster.
It was even possible that they had become vengeful ghosts in this pavilion.
Any cultivator that could have been imprisoned in a place like this was certainly powerful enough that the Dao Sect would have to worry about them.
No matter how Lin Fan’s group looked at it, this place really seemed to become more and more dangerous in their eyes.
Because of this, Lin Fan pulled out the token and held it in his hand just in case he needed to use it. He had no idea if he would need it, but it was better safe than sorry.
In fact, it turned out that this was the right decision and it was something that revealed itself right away.
That was because the moment that he pulled it out, Lin Fan could feel the pressure that was on him weakening. It seemed like possessing this token actually gave him the ability to ignore part of the suppression that came from this pavilion.
It wasn’t as if it was enough for him to completely ignore the suppression, but it did make it feel more comfortable for him. It was enough that he was able to act normally in this place.
When this sensation came over him, Lin Fan couldn’t help looking down at the token. As he looked down at it, he saw that there was this faint glow that had appeared around the token as if it was working to help him resist the suppression of this place.
After seeing this, Lin Fan called out to Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu before offering his hands to them.
As for the token, he had put it into his chest and up against his heart to ensure that he could access it at any time.
Ye Qing Huan didn’t hesitate to take Lin Fan’s hand and her expression changed the moment that she took it. There was a look of pleasant surprise that appeared, but it wasn’t as if she was that shaken by this sensation coming over her.
The way that she looked at Lin Fan, it was almost as if she had already expected something like this from him.
The only one that hesitated was Xiao Mu.
Seeing Lin Fan reach his hand out towards it, Xiao Mu didn’t take it at all.
Seeing the way that Xiao Mu looked at his hand, there was a bitter feeling that filled Lin Fan.
He had thought that they had gotten closer during this trip, but it seemed like he had been wrong. The way that Xiao Mu looked at his hand made it clear just how much it didn’t want to take it at all.
So there was nothing that Lin Fan could do except awkwardly hold his hand out like this.
After all, there was a reason why he offered this hand to Xiao Mu.
During all of this, there was a faint smile that appeared on Ye Qing Huan’s face as if she was amused by all of this. But she still reached her hand out to take Xiao Mu’s hand and made it grab Lin Fan’s hand.
Xiao Mu didn’t resist when it was forced to grab Lin Fan’s hand like this, but the expression on its face didn’t seem like it was happy about this.
Lin Fan just gave a secret sigh before moving forward while holding their hands like this.
When he wasn’t looking, there was a slight upwards inflection that appeared on Xiao Mu’s lips.
As they went further into the pavilion, they could feel the effects of the token even more.
There was a faint amount of suppression that came over them, but it wasn’t enough to actually affect them completely. It allowed them to continue moving forward without much trouble.
Though they could tell that if it wasn’t for the token, they might have been trapped in this place before even entering the pavilion itself.
But because of this, there was a worry that appeared in their hearts.
"What if we become trapped in this place even with the token?"
Still, they were able to reach the pavilion and enter it in the end.
This pavilion looked like a normal pavilion would with the things that decorated this place. However, the suppression that filled this place showed that it clearly wasn’t normal.
After entering this pavilion, the first thing that Lin Fan did was look around the area with his Appraisal Eyes. He knew that this place would have some kind of array installed or else this feeling of suppression wouldn’t fill the space like this.
But no matter how he looked at the area, he wasn’t able to find a single trace of the array.
It was only natural that this was the case since this was an array of the Dao Sect. Not to mention that it was a special array that was used in a place like the law enforcement pavilion.
If it wasn’t special, then it wouldn’t be here.
Since they weren’t able to find anything, the only thing that they could do was continue pushing forward.
As for where they would go, it was easy for them to figure out.
Other than that feeling of suppression that was on them, there was this other sensation that came from this corridor. It was this cold sensation that didn’t feel normal at all.
In a way, it almost felt like a place that they shouldn’t head down with how cold and dark it seemed. But because of how it looked, they couldn’t help wondering why this corridor was like this.
So following that curiosity, they went deeper into the law enforcement pavilion.
As they moved deeper, they could tell that they were getting closer and closer to the source of the suppression in this place. It seemed like they were coming towards the core of the law enforcement hall.
But if that was the case...
"Is this cold energy coming from the vengeful ghosts that were left in this place?"
Anyone that had half a brain would be able to figure it out.
If there had been prisoners left inside of the Dao Sect in the past, then they would have long become vengeful ghosts after being locked up for so long.
When cultivators were suppressed, they were no longer able to sustain themselves with just spiritual energy alone. As humans, it was only natural that they would seek water and food to sustain themselves.
Even the most powerful cultivators couldn’t avoid this when they were being suppressed by an array.
Which was why there was no doubt that anyone that was imprisoned here would have died from starvation long ago. After all, the Dao Sect members that could have fed them would have died a long time ago.
Lin Fan turned to look at Ye Qing Huan since she was more familiar with this, but she shook her head to show that she wasn’t sensing anything.
From the look in her eyes, Lin Fan could easily tell what she was thinking.
She wasn’t sensing anything either because there wasn’t anything here or...the vengeful ghosts that were here were stronger than her and hiding their presence. The vengeful ghosts of powerful cultivators would keep some of their cultivation and they would be able to hide themselves if they wanted.
It really seemed like it was getting more and more dangerous to keep going forward.
But they still continued forward because they felt something strange.
There were spiritual energy fluctuations that were coming from in front of them.
These should be the signs of a living person...
Only how could there be a living person in this place?
"Unless it’s one of the elders?" The thought that came to mind wasn’t one that was pushed out that easily.
So in the end, they kept pushing forward until they reached the area with the cells.
After reaching this area, the only things that they found were bones inside of these cells which proved that what they had been thinking had been correct. The prisoners that had been left in this place had indeed been trapped until they died.
But that didn’t matter right now.
When they turned the corner, they found what they were looking for.
It was just that when they did, they realized that they had made a mistake in their rush.
"We’re in plain view of this person."
Seeing this person trapped inside of the prison cell, the three of them immediately froze and didn’t dare to make any moves, as if they were afraid of drawing attention to themselves.
