Chapter 499 - 108: A More Likely Ending
Of course, it was a far cry from the true Wizard’s Towers of legend—those that could gather Energy, form self-sustaining cycles, and even hold spatial mysteries. It was more of a symbol for the public unveiling of the Path of the Priest and a place for teaching.
Today was the day the Tower of Revelation officially opened, and the day the first class of students would register.
In the early morning, a sizable crowd had already gathered in the wide plaza before the tower.
There were well-dressed, solemn-faced parents with children whose eyes were filled with curiosity and excitement.
There were commoner families in simple but freshly laundered clothes, the parents’ eyes holding both hope and unease.
There were also some young Priests, clearly from various parishes, their expressions earnest and solemn.
Aurora held Mo Ling’s hand, following the flow of the crowd to the front of the tower.
Today, she wore an elegant, light-beige long dress with a matching cardigan. Her long, golden hair was loosely tied up, with a few stray strands falling around her neck, giving her a gentle and serene air.
Mo Ling, on the other hand, wore a brand-new, light-blue robe bearing the insignia of a Priest Apprentice initiate. Her hair was neatly combed, and she tried to keep a serious expression on her small face, but her large, dark eyes sparkled with irrepressible curiosity and excitement.
"Lady Aurora! Mo Ling!"
A clear voice, tinged with pleasant surprise, called out.
Bobby broke free from her mother Juno’s hand and ran over like a cheerful little bird.
She was also wearing the little robe of an apprentice initiate today. Her hazel hair was tied into two neat braids, and her eyes sparkled brightly.
"Bobby!" Mo Ling’s face broke into a happy smile. She let go of her mother’s hand and ran to meet her.
The two little girls immediately huddled together, whispering excitedly to each other.
Claude and Juno followed close behind.
Claude was wearing his best dark coat and looked a little stiff.
Juno, holding his arm, wore a gentle smile.
The pair stopped before Aurora and bowed respectfully. "Good day, Lady Aurora."
"Good day, Mr. Claude, Mrs. Juno." Aurora gave a slight nod, her voice soft. "There’s no need for such formality. Here, we are all just parents sending our children off to school."
Hearing this, the tension on Claude’s face eased slightly, but his tone remained respectful. "Yes, My Lady. Thank you, and... and His Holiness, for giving Bobby this opportunity. We... we truly never expected..."
His gaze drifted involuntarily toward the towering spire that pierced the clouds, his eyes filled with awe and gratitude.
Juno softly agreed, "Yes, this is truly... a blessing from Oriane."
She subconsciously touched the Holy Emblem on her chest. The emblem’s design had recently undergone a subtle change, with a new pattern representing the four elements added around its border.
Just then, Bobby, still holding Mo Ling’s hand, turned her head. She looked curiously at Aurora, glanced around, and finally couldn’t resist whispering to Mo Ling, "Mo Ling, where’s your father? Is... His Holiness the Sword of Divinity not coming today?"
Her voice carried an unmistakable note of admiration and hope.
Hearing this, Mo Ling lifted her small face, her gaze seeming to travel past the towering spire,
and into the vast, clear blue of the autumn sky.
She blinked her dark eyes. "Father has something very important to do. He couldn’t come."
Bobby let out an "Oh," a flicker of disappointment crossing her face before quickly being replaced by understanding.
She nodded emphatically. "Mhm! His Holiness must be doing something incredible and important! Like how he gave the Holy City electric lights and cars!"
In her young mind, the powerful and mysterious His Holiness the Sword of Divinity was like a figure from legend. It was only natural that he would be busy.
The two little girls’ attention soon returned to the new life about to begin before them.
"Mo Ling, what do you think the inside of the tower looks like? Will there be lots of glowing runes? Like in a Wizard’s tower from a storybook?" Bobby asked in a hushed, imaginative voice.
"I don’t know either," Mo Ling said, shaking her head. "But Uncle Edwin said the first floor is mainly for theory classrooms and basic Meditation Rooms. There probably won’t be too many glowing things, right? At least not at the beginning."
"Theory class? Like learning how electricity works? And that thing you mentioned in the carriage last time... um... magnetic... lines?" Bobby struggled to recall the difficult word.
"Maybe. And also Elemental Perception, how to guide Spiritual Power, and things like that." Mo Ling nodded, beginning to look forward to it as well. "My father says that understanding the rules of the world is the foundation for using power. What we’re going to learn is how to recognize those rules."
"Is it going to be hard?" Bobby asked, a little worried.
"It definitely won’t be easy," Mo Ling said honestly. "But we can help each other! Besides, my mother says that as long as we study hard and take it one step at a time, we’ll eventually learn it."
"Yeah!" Encouraged, Bobby perked up again, her little face beaming with anticipation. "I’ll definitely study hard! In the future, maybe I’ll even be able to make something as amazing as an electric light!"
"We’ll do it together." Mo Ling squeezed Bobby’s hand. The two girls looked at each other and smiled, the early autumn sunlight gracing their young, hopeful faces.
Aurora listened quietly to the children’s conversation from the side, her gaze gentle.
She glanced at the Priest Tutors who were beginning to guide the students into the tower in an orderly fashion, then said softly to Claude and Juno, "It looks like it’s time for the children to go in."
Claude and Juno nodded quickly and called softly for Bobby.
Bobby answered, gave Mo Ling another tight hug, and then ran back to her parents.
