Chapter 483 - 350: Red-Pointed Spear, Wiping Out the Longevity Cult
It was early morning in the main plaza of the Jiangzhou Management Bureau headquarters.
Ian stood before three modified, armored off-road vehicles. Behind him, Zhou Zhen and ten team members stood ramrod straight.
They were all elite Controllers and Grandmasters, and every face showed a mixture of excitement and awe.
"Advisor Yin, everyone is present," Zhou Zhen stepped forward and reported loudly.
Ian’s gaze swept over the group. He perceived each person’s Superpower type and nodded to himself in approval.
’Energy System, Enhancement System, Spiritual System, and Healing System. A very reasonable composition.’
"Get in." He pulled open the front passenger door of the first vehicle and got inside.
Zhou Zhen paused for a second, then quickly scrambled into the driver’s seat.
The convoy started up, drove out of the Management Bureau gates, and sped northwest toward the Black Dragon Mountain Range.
The cabin was quiet, filled only with the roar of the engine and the hiss of tires on the road.
Ian’s eyes were slightly closed, his Spiritual Power already extending out to a ten-kilometer radius.
The Gravity Rule sketched out the terrain’s contours, the Thermal Energy Rule sensed temperature changes, and the Purification Rule captured every trace of Abyssal Aura in the air.
"Advisor Yin..."
Gripping the steering wheel, Zhou Zhen hesitated for a moment before finally speaking.
"About this mission... The intel from headquarters indicates this is a newly formed Rift, but its Energy fluctuations have already reached Level Four."
"It might even be Level Five and have spawned a Legendary-Level Mutant. In this squad, even the strongest—me—is only at Level Three Middle Stage. Won’t we be..."
He didn’t say the two words, "a burden," but the meaning was obvious.
Ian opened his eyes. "You’re responsible for scouting the perimeter and dealing with the small fry. Leave the rest to me."
Zhou Zhen breathed a sigh of relief. If Yin Chuanqi said so, then there was no problem.
The cabin fell silent once again.
Two hours later, the convoy stopped at the end of an abandoned highway on the outskirts of the Black Dragon Mountain Range.
Ahead lay a continuous range of black mountains, and a faint smell of sulfur hung in the air.
"Advisor Yin, we’re here." Zhou Zhen stopped the vehicle and opened his door.
The team members got out quickly, each checking their gear with practiced movements.
Ian stood by the vehicle, his gaze fixed on the depths of the mountain range. The color of the sky there was slightly off.
It wasn’t a normal blue, but was tinged with a shade of dark purple.
"The Rift’s energy is leaking, and it has already begun to contaminate the surrounding environment."
He muttered to himself as his Gravity Perception spread out at full power.
Within a five-thousand-meter radius, the air suddenly distorted, light bent, and dust froze in place.
The contours of the mountains, the density of the Rock, the fissures beneath the ground, and the things hidden in the shadows—everything appeared clearly in his mind.
"Three o’clock, two thousand meters, two contaminated individuals. One more in a tree hollow at nine o’clock. Behind the ridgeline, five on the move."
Ian softly announced the positions of all the Mutants within five thousand meters.
Zhou Zhen’s pupils contracted. He hadn’t perceived anything. The targets were too far away, beyond the perceptual limits of a Grandmaster.
"Yes, sir. We’ll clear them out immediately."
"Go," Ian said with a nod, his tone flat.
Zhou Zhen waved his hand, and the nine team members behind him shot out like cheetahs.
「Three minutes later.」
A few brief, tragic cries echoed from the distance. When the team members returned, they didn’t have a single drop of blood on them.
"Advisor Yin, cleanup complete."
Zhou Zhen’s face was a mask of pleasant surprise. ’It’s great following a Legend. We don’t have to be so cautious anymore.’

’Those hidden sentries were concealed incredibly well, but Advisor Yin pinpointed their locations with just a casual sweep.’
"Keep moving forward," Ian said, striding toward the mountain depths. Zhou Zhen and his men hurried to follow.
The deeper they went, the stronger the smell of sulfur became, and the air grew viscous.
Dark red moss began to appear on the ground. Occasionally, they saw twisted plants with no leaves, only black, writhing branches.
"This is vegetation unique to the Rifts..." one of the team members said in a low voice, his expression grave.
"It’s already spread to the surrounding flora. It seems the Rift’s contamination is much more severe than we anticipated."
Ian didn’t stop. He walked up to one of the twisted plants, a faint golden light glowing at his fingertip as he activated the Purification Rule.
SIZZLE!
Black smoke rose from the plant’s surface as it rapidly withered, carbonized, and turned into a handful of Ashes.
Ian pointed his fingertip at an unpurified plant and activated Original Blood Origin Tracing to analyze its internal structure.
’It’s very similar to the Abyss contamination in the Wizard World, but its manifestation is different.’
’The contamination here is more active, like a completely new type of parasite.’
He muttered to himself, and with a flash of golden light from his palm, turned the plant to Ashes.
Half an hour later, the team arrived at the entrance to a valley.
A dark purple mist filled the valley, reducing visibility to less than ten meters and carrying a pungent, foul stench.
"On guard!" Zhou Zhen barked. The team members quickly fanned out into a combat formation.
Ian stood at the very front of the group, his gaze piercing the mist to look into the valley.
There, he saw several three-meter-tall Mutants with sallow gray skin covered in dark purple pustules.
Their arms had mutated into Bone Blades, and their spines had pierced through their skin, forming ferocious Bone Spikes.
"Five Level Three Mutants and three Cultists. Judging by the Badges on their chests, they’re from the Longevity Cult."
"One Level Three Steward, and two Level Two Cultists."
Once again, Ian reported the enemy’s numbers and strength.
"Zhou Zhen, take two with Fire Superpowers and draw their attention from the front. Ice Element, control from the flank. Enhancement System, circle around and ambush from the rear."
"Spiritual System, interfere with the Cultists’ casting. Healing System, be ready at all times."
Zhou Zhen froze for half a second before it registered. "Yes, sir!"
The team members moved like a well-oiled machine, and the battle erupted in an instant.
Fireballs roared out and smashed into the Mutants while frost spread across the ground, restricting their movements.
The Enhancement System users shot forward like cannonballs. The clash of Bone Blade against Bone Spike rang out with the clamor of screeching metal.
