Chapter 337: My Woman, Ivy Sherwood

The location for their get-together was a private clubhouse.

When she arrived, Ivy Sherwood was stunned to see so many people.

’Didn’t Quentin Blackwood say this was a get-together with just a few friends?’

’Why are there so many people? And they all look incredibly wealthy, dressed in extravagant attire.’

’Especially the women—they were all in couture gowns and heavy makeup. Anyone who didn’t know better would think this was some grand gala.’

In contrast, Ivy Sherwood was dressed casually, looking completely out of place.

Even Quentin Blackwood could see it. This wasn’t what he had envisioned at all. He looked at a man nearby. "What’s going on?"

The man’s name was Ethan Forrest, one of Quentin Blackwood’s closer friends in Aethelgard. His family had been in politics for three generations, but he had zero interest in it. Instead, he preferred to be Quentin Blackwood’s protégé, learning the ways of business from him.

Ethan Forrest said, "I don’t know either. I didn’t invite most of these people. Joy Sheridan probably called them over."

"Quentin, is this the woman you were going to introduce us to?" Ethan Forrest had been curious for ages. After all, this was the first time Quentin Blackwood had ever brought a woman to introduce to their circle.

"Yes. My woman, Ivy Sherwood," Quentin Blackwood introduced her simply.

The moment he said that, a collective "WOAH" erupted from the crowd, and some people’s eyes went wide. This was the first time Quentin Blackwood had ever brought a woman out and publicly claimed her as his own.

"Hello, everyone. I’m Ivy Sherwood," Ivy greeted them.

She then spotted Zion Landon. "Dr. Landon, you’re here too. I haven’t had a chance to thank you in person yet."

"Don’t mention it," Zion Landon said coolly.

Ethan Forrest was sizing Ivy Sherwood up, his eyes practically glued to her. Quentin Blackwood smacked him. "What are you staring at? It’s rude."

Ethan Forrest chuckled. "I just wanted to see what kind of goddess managed to descend from the heavens and tame you."

Everyone in their circle had assumed Quentin Blackwood would never marry. Turns out, he doesn’t make a move often, but when he does, it’s a showstopper.

Ethan Forrest leaned close to Quentin Blackwood’s ear. "Quentin, it’s no secret Joy Sheridan has a thing for you. With you bringing Ivy here, and Joy inviting all these people... she’s definitely up to no good."

They all knew exactly what kind of person Joy Sheridan was.

Quentin Blackwood replied calmly, "I know."

Just then, a group of women approached, led by Joy Sheridan’s head minion.

"Oh, look at this tacky waitress. What are you waiting for? Hurry up and pour me a drink."

As soon as she spoke, a wave of mocking laughter rippled through the onlookers.

"Watch your mouth. She’s Quentin’s guest tonight," Ethan Forrest said.

The woman feigned surprise. "Oh, so she’s Quentin’s guest? My apologies, Quentin. It’s just, she looks so much like a waitress, I honestly didn’t know. It was an honest mistake."

She then turned to Ivy Sherwood. "Quentin, if she’s your guest, why is she dressed so plainly? Is she trying to embarrass you on purpose? Does she not respect you? Or maybe she thinks so little of us that she doesn’t feel we’re worth dressing up for."

Just then, Joy Sheridan walked over. "Don’t give her such a hard time. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Besides, this sow doesn’t even have the money to buy a silk purse."

Joy Sheridan was seething with jealousy. Quentin Blackwood had actually brought Ivy Sherwood to introduce her to everyone in their social circle.

Everyone in this circle was rich and powerful. Any single person here was a major figure in Aethelgard.

’Doesn’t everyone know that I, Joy Sheridan, am meant to be Quentin Blackwood’s future wife? Now everyone’s treating me like a joke!’

’For the past few days, I’ve been sending people to find an opportunity to get to Ivy Sherwood, but she’s surrounded by well-trained bodyguards. I couldn’t find a single opening. So, I had to wait for tonight.’

’Tonight, I will turn Ivy Sherwood into a laughingstock!’

After Joy Sheridan had her say, Ivy Sherwood finally spoke. "Is what you wear really that important? If so, why is it that some people can be dressed to the nines, yet remain so ugly on the inside?"

The first woman immediately piped up, "Quentin, we didn’t even say anything, and she’s already started insulting us. Isn’t that a bit out of line?"

Ivy Sherwood smiled, the corner of her mouth twitching up. "I didn’t insult you. I didn’t mention a single name. But if you insist on taking it personally, there’s nothing I can do about that."

But Quentin Blackwood just retorted, "Did she mention your name? And was she wrong?"

The woman was instantly shut down. ’Looks like Joy was right,’ she thought. ’This one is not as simple as she seems.’

’And she only dares to talk to us like this because Quentin is spoiling her right now.’

Ethan Forrest stepped in to play peacemaker. "Hey, let’s not just stand around talking. Let’s go sit down. It’s been a while since we all had a drink together. Quentin, you’d better be ready for a few rounds later."

Quentin Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood went over to the seating area. As Ethan Forrest poured drinks, he said, "Let’s get started. We’ve still got a heavyweight guest on the way."

Ivy was just wondering who this heavyweight guest could be when she saw Landon Jacobs walk over.

"Well, speak of the devil."

Ivy was surprised. She hadn’t expected Ethan Forrest to be talking about Landon Jacobs.

’Landon Jacobs knows them?’

’No wonder the award-winning actor suddenly showed up at Iris’s grand opening. It was all thanks to Quentin Blackwood.’

"So, for my grand opening... was it you who sent the great Landon Jacobs over?" Ivy leaned in and whispered in Quentin Blackwood’s ear.

Quentin Blackwood had already forgotten about it, surprised that Ivy still remembered.

"What? Want to thank me?"

Ivy always felt that nothing good ever came from him saying things like that. Sure enough, the next second, she felt his fingers brush against her earlobe. "Just keep a running tab of what you owe me. You’ll have to find a way to pay me back for all of it later."

Ivy’s cheeks flushed instantly. "!! "

’In front of everyone! Do his friends even know that he’s actually a complete perv and not the serious man he pretends to be?’

Not far away, Joy Sheridan glared daggers at the two of them.

’How dare Quentin be so intimate with Ivy in front of everyone! No, that’s not right. Ivy was the one deliberately seducing him. She was the one who leaned in close to whisper to him.’

’Isn’t she just trying to show off their intimacy, using his status to tell everyone how special she is?’

’She’s just a social climber. I heard her store, Iris, is even opening a branch in Aethelgard. Isn’t it obvious she’s just using Quentin to get where she is today?’

’Quentin is so brilliant. How can he not see through such a cheap trick?’

’A woman who could break off an engagement with the Blackwood Family and still have Quentin wrapped around her finger... to have come this far, she’s certainly more than she appears.’

’But tonight, I’m going to make her a laughingstock.’

’The night is still young. We’ll see who has the last laugh!’
