Chapter 297: Your Mr. Blackwood
It had been a while since she’d met up with Nina Scott, so after finally finishing her work, Ivy Sherwood arranged to have dinner with Nina the next evening.
Of course, Nina Scott was available. Besides, she hadn’t seen Ivy Sherwood in a few days and had a ton of things she wanted to tell her.
During the day, Ivy Sherwood also went to check on a few of her stores. Iris was developing well, and the shops had quite a lot of customers.
Things were on the right track, but Ivy Sherwood couldn’t shake the feeling of a persistent twitch in her brow, as if something was about to happen. She felt an unexplainable emptiness inside.
Just as she left the store, Ivy Sherwood received a call from Quentin Blackwood.
"Mr. Blackwood?"
"I have to go back to Aethelgard for something. I just wanted to let you know."
Quentin Blackwood’s voice came from the other end of the line, and Ivy Sherwood’s heart skipped a beat. ’Is this him... checking in with me?’
Ivy Sherwood didn’t know what he was going back for, but she figured it was probably work-related. DG Group was so massive, there must be a lot of business that he couldn’t handle from Lustre.
"Okay. If there’s anything I can help with, just let me know!"
’Though usually, she couldn’t help with his affairs.’
"Mhm. Eat well and get enough sleep."
"Shouldn’t I be the one saying that? You’re the one who needs to eat well and get some sleep. If you end up in the hospital again, I’m not coming to see you. Also, I’m not that busy; I’m available twenty-four seven. If you want to call or text me, I’ll always be online!"
"Okay," came Quentin Blackwood’s cool voice.
The conversation was over, yet neither of them hung up, quietly listening to the sound of the other’s breathing.
"Ivy, over here!" Nina Scott waved at Ivy Sherwood from a distance.
Only then did Ivy Sherwood say, "I’m having dinner with Nina tonight. I’m hanging up now. Text me when you get there."
"Mhm, okay."
Ivy Sherwood hung up and walked over to Nina Scott.
"Who were you talking to? Your Mr. Blackwood?"
"He had to go back to Aethelgard for something."
"You didn’t deny it this time. Has he really become ’yours’?" Nina Scott asked, her face a mask of gossip.
"Well... I’m not sure. I guess so?"
"What do you mean ’not sure’? What do you mean ’I guess’? Nope, you have to tell me everything. What have you two been up to on the sly!" Nina Scott said, linking her arm through Ivy Sherwood’s.
Ivy Sherwood briefly summarized what had happened between her and Quentin Blackwood. After listening, Nina Scott covered her mouth, her face lit with excitement. "Oh my god!"
"What is it?" Ivy Sherwood asked, seeing Nina’s reaction.
Nina Scott shook her head. "Nothing, it’s just... this is more exciting than a TV drama! So, did Silas Blackwood really call you ’Auntie’?"
"He didn’t. But the look on his face at that moment was so satisfying."
"That’s more than satisfying, okay? I can just imagine the look on Silas Blackwood’s face. He must be regretting it so much. He kept searching for that face, only to find out it belonged to the person he used to despise and detest the most. And now, she’s the one he can never have." Just thinking about it made Nina Scott feel vindicated.
"But that Anna Nash is really something else, so vicious. To think she could back Silas Blackwood into a corner like this, leaving the Blackwood Family with no way to deal with her. Is this a case of ’gaining status through her son’?" Nina Scott had always hated Anna Nash, but she never expected her to be this cunning.
Of course, Ivy Sherwood hadn’t mentioned Anna Nash’s child, only the story of how Anna had forced Silas Blackwood to marry her.
The Blackwood Family was currently preparing for the wedding, and the news of Silas Blackwood and Anna Nash’s marriage had been officially announced. The wedding was in the next couple of days.
By doing this, the Blackwood Family could also salvage their reputation and reduce the amount of criticism online.
After all, a scumbag and a bitch getting together was the best possible outcome.
"I don’t know. ’It’s not that karma isn’t coming, it’s just not here yet,’ I suppose."
’Anna Nash’s days of suffering were still to come.’
’But Anna Nash, she looks like an innocent little flower, but she’s actually a black-hearted white lotus. She’s the type to plan several moves ahead. She definitely has other tricks up her sleeve.’
"Then what about your mother’s ashes? Aren’t they still in Caleb Blackwood’s hands?" Nina Scott asked worriedly.
Ivy Sherwood said, "I will get them back."
Nina Scott nodded. ’If Ivy said she would, she definitely would.’
The two of them walked upstairs together. Thinking of Seth Scott, Ivy Sherwood couldn’t help but ask, "Is your brother doing okay?"
"He’s fine. It wasn’t serious, and he’s already been discharged from the hospital."
"Somehow, Yara Scott found out about it. She got angry and jealous, thinking my brother told me he was in the hospital but not her. She lost her chance to rush over and take care of him, so she went and said a bunch of bad things about me to that woman, and then that woman came and yelled at me again."
Nina Scott said it casually, but "that woman" she was referring to was her own mother.
She didn’t want to call her "Mom" because, in her mother’s eyes, there was only Yara Scott, the good little girl. Nina was nothing.
"She didn’t do anything to you, did she?" Ivy Sherwood asked, concerned. She had always known that Nina Scott’s mother played favorites.
Nina Scott shook her head. "No, she just yelled at me a bit, that’s all. My brother put in a few good words, and then it was fine."
"Ivy, let’s go get the buffet, what do you think?" Nina Scott said, spotting a buffet restaurant nearby.
"Sure, let’s go!" The two of them went to the restaurant together.
While they were eating, Nina Scott was scrolling through her phone when she saw a news story and exclaimed, "Ivy, look! Silas Blackwood and Anna Nash’s wedding photos are out! Tsk tsk, Silas Blackwood looks so pissed off. Forget wedding photos, I’d believe it if you told me this was for a funeral."
Ivy Sherwood tapped on it to take a look. A set of photos had indeed been released, probably just recently taken.
After all, the wedding was in a couple of days. The main goal was speed.
The internet was currently flooded with news about Silas Blackwood marrying Anna Nash. The Blackwood Family had hired media outlets to promote it, and all the marketing accounts were praising them as a perfect, good-looking couple.
But it was obvious the two people in the photos had completely different expressions. One was smiling with utter delight, while the other had a cold expression, looking like his mother had just died.
When Anna Nash was nestled in Silas Blackwood’s arms, she looked as docile as a little bird, the very picture of happiness. But Silas Blackwood’s expression was, from any angle, one of utter disgust, and his hands wouldn’t even touch her.
The reposts were a uniform wave of congratulations and comments about what a perfect match they were, all from paid commenters arranged in advance.
The real netizens had a more fiery tone. The internet has a long memory; the scandal from a while ago had only happened a few days prior. People weren’t stupid.
But all those dissenting comments had been deleted by the Blackwood Family’s PR team.
Ivy Sherwood didn’t care whether Anna Nash and Silas Blackwood got married or not. What she cared about were her mother’s ashes—when would Anna Nash get them?
Ivy Sherwood sent Anna Nash a message, a pointed reminder: "One week."
Seeing Ivy Sherwood’s message, Anna Nash’s heart clenched. "Don’t worry, I’ll get them as soon as possible."
’Ivy Sherwood’s existence was a ticking time bomb. As long as Ivy Sherwood was alive, the secret could be exposed.’
"Ivy, did you get an invitation?" asked Nina, who was enjoying the drama.
"What invitation?"
"The invitation to Silas Blackwood and Anna Nash’s wedding, of course! The Scott Family got one. Want to go watch the spectacle together? I think it’s going to be a great show."
"They didn’t send me one, but Quentin Blackwood probably got one."
It wouldn’t be hard for Ivy Sherwood to go, but Quentin Blackwood had just gone back to Aethelgard on business. He probably wouldn’t be able to attend his nephew’s wedding.
