Chapter 294: Ivy Sherwood’s Secret
Quentin Blackwood’s words didn’t just surprise Silas Blackwood; even Ivy Sherwood at his side was taken aback.
’Auntie...’
’This is a little awkward!’
’Still, my seniority just jumped a whole generation. Quentin used to call me his niece-in-law.’
But her heart still fluttered with excitement. She liked this new title!
"You... You people..." Silas Blackwood was so stunned he was speechless.
Ivy Sherwood looked at him, her smile making her even more beautiful. "Nephew, don’t you know how to address your elders? Call me Auntie!"
Silas Blackwood couldn’t accept his fiancée suddenly becoming his aunt.
"In your dreams! Ivy Sherwood, Quentin Blackwood, this isn’t over!"
Silas Blackwood simply couldn’t accept this reality. The blow was too much for him.
He looked like a madman, still muttering curses, his eyes filled with malice and hatred.
Soon, the resort’s security guards arrived and escorted Silas Blackwood away.
"Who called security?" Ivy Sherwood wondered as Silas Blackwood was led away.
’Did Julian Grant and the others call them after they left?’
Quentin Blackwood said, "I did."
"When did you call them?" Ivy Sherwood hadn’t seen Quentin make a call.
Quentin Blackwood said, "The moment Silas arrived at the resort."
Ivy Sherwood stared at him in surprise. "So you knew Silas was coming!"
"Yes. I let him in."
Without Quentin Blackwood’s permission, Silas would never have been able to get in.
"So you did it on purpose!"
Quentin Blackwood nodded. He had indeed done it on purpose.
"Why?" Ivy Sherwood didn’t understand. Why would he deliberately let Silas come here and cause a scene?
Ivy Sherwood didn’t mind that Silas had discovered her secret. She wasn’t planning on hiding it anymore anyway. It was just a little sudden.
"I didn’t want to hide it anymore."
Quentin Blackwood had always acted openly and aboveboard. He had no intention of hiding this from the Blackwoods. This would also put an end to any of Silas’s lingering delusions and stop him from constantly coveting the woman who was now his.
Ivy Sherwood met his eyes and suddenly started laughing.
’Even knowing their path forward would be full of thorns, she was willing to walk it with Quentin Blackwood, starting now!’
...
After being thrown out of the resort, Silas Blackwood was completely devastated, as if he’d lost his soul.
He still couldn’t accept that he’d been played, nor could he accept that the woman he’d been pursuing for so long was actually Ivy Sherwood.
Silas still couldn’t reconcile the two faces. One was so plain, the other so beautiful—how could they belong to the same person?
’Ivy Sherwood really kept her secret well, fooling so many people!’
He’d previously thought Ivy Sherwood was just playing hard to get, deliberately pretending to hate him to grab his attention.
Now, it seemed Ivy Sherwood never had any intention of marrying him from the start. Otherwise, with a face like that, he would have agreed to the marriage long ago.
Silas Blackwood couldn’t accept that idea. He was so exceptional—how could Ivy Sherwood possibly not like him?
’I have to become more powerful. I’ll make Ivy regret this and rub it in both of their faces.’
’And I’m going to get my shares back!’
’Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood swindled me out of them. Ivy, Quentin... those two are so ruthless!’
After leaving the resort, Silas went to a bar and came home dead drunk. In the past, whenever he got this drunk, Anna Nash would take meticulous care of him, but now she wouldn’t give him the time of day.
Caleb Blackwood, however, saw the state he was in and cursed him out.
Watching Caleb Blackwood go upstairs, Silas Blackwood also swayed and stumbled after him.
Downstairs, Anna Nash quietly followed. When she saw Silas enter the study and shut the door, she crept over and pressed her ear against it, trying to make out what was being said inside.
"What are you following me for?" Caleb Blackwood had lost all patience with his son, especially now that he was drunk.
Tears streamed down Silas’s face. "Dad, I know I was wrong. From now on, I’ll work hard. I’ll do whatever you say."
’He should have listened to Caleb Blackwood and married Ivy Sherwood from the start.’
’If it hadn’t been for that whole fiasco with Anna Nash at the engagement party, he and Ivy might be married by now, maybe even with a child on the way.’
Seeing Silas like this, Caleb Blackwood didn’t know what had set him off. But it was good that Silas was finally growing up and settling down. Otherwise, he really couldn’t trust him with the company.
"Don’t worry about the company for now. Your wedding day is almost here. Go ahead and marry Anna Nash first."
"Dad, I don’t want to get married! I don’t want to marry that woman! That bitch Anna Nash... one day, I’ll kill her!"
Silas’s voice was so loud that despite the door’s decent soundproofing, Anna Nash, eavesdropping outside, could vaguely make out some of it.
’So Silas has turned on me. He even wants to kill me.’
Anna Nash knew the child in her womb wasn’t Silas’s. She could hide it from the Blackwood Family for now, but if they ever found out, it would be a dead end for her.
This wasn’t a foolproof plan, so she had to find another way.
In fact, Anna Nash had another plan. Her sights were now set on Caleb Blackwood.
Caleb Blackwood was still the one who called the shots in the Blackwood family. As long as she could get ahold of him, she could secure her position and do whatever she wanted in the household.
But right now, the Blackwoods hated her to the bone, and Caleb Blackwood couldn’t stand the sight of her. She would have to think of another way.
"It’s too late. This is the path you chose yourself."
"Dad, you must have a way! Ivy Sherwood was lying to me the whole time. The one I love is Ivy! Dad, don’t you have the ashes? Use them to threaten her! Besides, Ivy still has shares in the Blackwood Group. We have to get those back, right?"
"I’m keeping those ashes for another purpose. For now, you just behave and get married."
"Dad, where do you keep those ashes?" Silas Blackwood asked.
"Why are you asking?"
Silas was thinking that if he could get his hands on the ashes, he could threaten Ivy.
Then Ivy would have to do whatever he said. That’s why he wanted to get control of the ashes himself.
"I just want to know. Dad, can you give the ashes to me? Don’t worry, I’ll keep them safe. I absolutely won’t let that Ivy Sherwood get her hands on them."
Hearing such a critical detail, Anna Nash pressed her ear closer, trying to hear more clearly.
"Miss Nash, you..." A maid coming upstairs spotted Anna at the study door.
Anna Nash quickly stood up straight. "Silas just got back. I was going to ask if he was hungry."
"Then why aren’t you going in?" the maid asked, finding it odd.
"Since he’s talking with Dad, I’ll come back later."
Anna Nash had no choice but to head back downstairs. ’Damn it! I missed the most important part!’
’But Silas wants the ashes too,’ she thought. ’Why don’t I provoke him a little more and let him figure out a way to get them?’
"Dad, I went to the resort today. Quentin Blackwood even made me call Ivy ’Auntie.’ I just can’t stomach this humiliation!"
"Dad, you have to know, Ivy actually has another face! She’s a stunning beauty, completely different from how she usually looks! They made a complete fool of me!"
Caleb Blackwood was startled. "What did you say?"
