Chapter 325: Watching Quentin Blackwood Madly Kiss Someone Else
"No, no. This is the wine our Joy poured for President Blackwood herself. How could we dare to drink it?"
The men were just enjoying the show and eager to stir up trouble. One of them glanced at Joy Sheridan and said, "If President Blackwood doesn’t drink this, think how awkward it’ll be for our Joy."
However, Quentin Blackwood simply held the wine glass, showing no intention of drinking.
Joy Sheridan’s heart began to sink. The problem was, Quentin Blackwood never let his emotions show. You could never guess what he was thinking.
That very uncertainty was torture. Joy Sheridan had no idea if her plan had been discovered.
But then, she watched as Quentin Blackwood tilted his head back, poured the red wine down his throat, and drained the glass in one go.
Joy Sheridan was ecstatic. ’He drank it!’
’Quentin Blackwood drank the wine she had drugged!’
’This means the hardest part is over. Now, all I have to do is wait for the drug to kick in. Then I’ll either take him home myself or just follow him quietly.’
’She was the only woman here. Even if Quentin Blackwood realized something was wrong in a little while, it would be too late.’
Joy Sheridan was inwardly ecstatic. All that was left was to let time do its work.
The seconds and minutes ticked by as Joy Sheridan waited for the drug to kick in.
Quentin Blackwood began to feel a scorching heat spread through his body. He tugged at his tie.
Joy Sheridan noticed his neck was flushed. ’It’s almost time,’ she thought. ’Just a little longer, and Quentin will feel the heat, he’ll need a woman... and I’ll be the perfect antidote.’
A few moments later, Quentin Blackwood’s phone buzzed with a message, and he glanced down at the screen.
The message was from Zane Linton, informing him that Ivy Sherwood had landed.
Quentin Blackwood stood up. "My apologies, everyone. Something’s come up, I have to go."
Joy Sheridan shot to her feet as well. ’Did he figure something out? Is his body already feeling the effects, forcing him to leave in such a rush?’
When Quentin Blackwood decided to leave, no one else could possibly stop him.
Joy Sheridan also stood up. "He drank too much. I’m a little worried, I’ll go check on him."
With that, Joy Sheridan hurried after him.
However, she was just a step too slow. Quentin Blackwood had already stepped into the elevator.
His car was waiting at the entrance. Quentin Blackwood got in, the heat already building in his body, like a restless fire blazing through his veins.
He knew that Joy Sheridan had drugged him.
And it was precisely because he knew that he had drunk it deliberately.
Quentin told the driver the address of his property near the office. The last time Ivy Sherwood ordered takeout for him, she had sent it there. She probably only knew about this one property, and since she wanted to surprise him, she would very likely come here directly.
At the mere thought of Ivy Sherwood, Quentin Blackwood’s throat constricted.
The fire inside him was burning stronger, and he could barely contain it. But knowing it would still take Ivy Sherwood a little while to get there, he didn’t press the driver to go any faster.
’This kind of drug has no harmful side effects, not that I need any help in the first place.’
’But since Ivy’s timing is so perfect... and she did say earlier today that she wanted to thank me... it seems her chance to ’repay her debt’ has come sooner than expected.’
As for Joy Sheridan, by deliberately drinking the drugged wine, he now had the perfect excuse to teach her a lesson later on.
...
After getting off the plane, Ivy Sherwood checked the time. It was a little after ten o’clock, which wasn’t early.
She had booked a hotel for herself, not far from Quentin Blackwood’s apartment.
’If Quentin asks, I’ll just say I’m here on business. Definitely not to see him.’
Ivy Sherwood decided to go to her hotel first. Once she was settled in, she would send Quentin Blackwood a message.
’Quentin probably doesn’t know I’m here yet. If he messages back later, I’ll go look for him.’
’If he doesn’t reply, he’s probably busy or already asleep. In that case, I won’t disturb him. I’ll just find a time to see him tomorrow.’
She remembered that he had a business dinner tonight. ’I wonder if he’s home yet.’
In any case, she was already here. There was no need to rush things.
She soon arrived at the hotel and went to the front desk to check in.
The young woman at the reception desk quickly processed her check-in and handed Ivy Sherwood a key card. Ivy looked at it and said, "Wait, this isn’t right. I only booked a standard room, but this seems to be for a suite."
The receptionist replied without batting an eye, "Miss, this is indeed the room type you booked."
Ivy Sherwood didn’t overthink it. "Alright, thank you."
She headed straight for the elevator, imagining what kind of expression Quentin Blackwood would have when he learned she was in Aethelgard.
’Will he be pleasantly surprised, or just plain shocked?’
She never thought that one day she would miss someone so much that she would drop everything just to rush to their side.
The elevator stopped quickly, and Ivy Sherwood stepped out.
However, the moment she stepped out, a powerful hand suddenly seized her wrist. An instant later, she was pulled into a hard, scorching embrace.
Caught completely off guard, Ivy Sherwood was terrified. "Ah— Mmph!"
Before a scream could escape her lips, the man leaned down and pressed an impatient kiss to hers.
"Mmph—" Staring at the face just inches from her own, Ivy Sherwood’s eyes flew wide. "Quen— Mmph... Quentin..."
The familiar scent, the familiar embrace wrapped around Ivy Sherwood. ’So I’m the one getting the shock!’
"How... are you... here..."
But Ivy Sherwood couldn’t form a complete sentence before Quentin Blackwood’s mouth smothered her words.
’How did Quentin Blackwood know I was coming to Aethelgard? And how did he know I’d be at this hotel?!’
Quentin Blackwood was like a long-starved beast, frantically devouring its prey. He coaxed her tongue to dance with his, his hand resting on her waist, the sexy blue veins on the back of it just visible.
’What’s wrong with Quentin? His body feels scalding hot. Does he have a cold? A fever?’
But at that moment, her mind was a complete blur from his kiss, leaving her no room to think about anything else.
She felt as if Quentin Blackwood wanted to tear her clothes off and knead her very being into his.
"Mmph... someone might see..." Ivy Sherwood was acutely aware that they were in a public area. This was a hotel corridor!
Quentin Blackwood’s lips traveled down to her neck as he answered her question.
"There’s no one. This is a DG hotel, and I’ve booked the entire floor."
Ivy Sherwood’s legs had gone soft from his kisses. The black box she was holding clattered to the floor, and she used her remaining strength just to protect the small bottle inside.
"Mmph... but there are still cameras... someone will see..."
Quentin Blackwood forced his other hand into hers, lacing their fingers together. "No one will look. They wouldn’t dare without my command."
Quentin Blackwood’s lips found hers again. They had only been apart for a few days, but the longing was uncontrollable.
She was his switch, and his antidote.
He kissed her with wild abandon. If anyone were to walk by at that moment, they would see a tall, handsome man in a suit pinning a woman against the wall, every trace of his usual stoic restraint gone, replaced by nothing but endless desire.
They had the perfect height difference. His arm circled her waist tightly to support her, her slender frame all but disappearing under his.
Just then, the elevator door dinged open down the hall. Joy Sheridan, having finally caught up, clapped a hand over her mouth, unable to believe the scene unfolding before her.
