Chapter 125 - 100: Just a Joke
A series of rumbles echoed from within the fog. Clearly, the Young Manor Master and Tong Wanli had clashed.
Dugu Yu and Yin Yue exchanged a glance.
"The little fox has made his move," Dugu Yu said. "We shouldn’t just stand around chatting."
"Let’s kill them. We have important matters to attend to."
Yin Yue nodded in agreement.
With that said, two figures leaped into the air, their movements perfectly synchronized as they shot straight toward Liao Chengfeng.
Liao Chengfeng’s expression was grim. He was already furious from the slap he had taken earlier, so seeing them attack again was exactly what he wanted.
He immediately executed a series of complex footwork maneuvers, raising his hands and secretly channeling the power of the Reversed Soul Devouring Palm.
In the blink of an eye, Dugu Yu and Yin Yue were upon him.
Liao Chengfeng thrust out his palms, which pulsed with an obscure light. Silent and traceless, they seemed to truly hold the power to scatter the soul and devour the heart.
However, the strongest martial art in the world is useless if it can’t hit its target.
Dugu Yu and Yin Yue suddenly spun.
Their spin seemed to invert heaven and earth, swap the sun and moon, and overturn the universe itself.
Liao Chengfeng’s long-prepared palm strike instantly hit empty air.
And it missed inexplicably.
"This is..."
’His heart clenched.’ The next moment, a pair of hands clamped down on his shoulders.
’This is bad,’ he thought, just as two energies—one yin, one yang—surged through his body.
In an instant, one half of his body felt like it was being roasted by a scorching sun, as if he had been thrown into a cauldron of boiling oil.
The other half, however, felt as if it were buried under ice, steeped in cold, clear moonlight.
With his yin and yang in turmoil, the Inner Strength within him instantly fell into disarray.
Liao Chengfeng was, after all, a master famous for many years—a cut above the ordinary. Even in this predicament, he maintained his focus and suppressed the rampaging Inner Strength within him.
However, in the next moment, Dugu Yu and Yin Yue used his shoulders as a pivot, flipping upside down to spin again like a fiery pinwheel.
This forced Liao Chengfeng to spin with them, and as he spun, the yin and yang energies surrounding him radiated outward uncontrollably.
The two energies were like a protective gale, and as they spread, no one nearby could get close.
Only the brawny man who cultivated the Great Brahman Vajra Skill, relying on his indestructible body Divine Technique, held his ground without advancing or retreating.
The entire process didn’t last long—less than three breaths from start to finish.
Dugu Yu and Yin Yue suddenly retreated, landing less than three feet from Liao Chengfeng.
When they looked again at Liao Chengfeng, who was staggering on the spot, everyone’s pupils contracted in shock.
They saw that half of Liao Chengfeng’s body was covered in frost, as if he had spent decades in a land of ice and snow. The other half, however, emitted the aroma of cooked meat—the smell of flesh that had been seared dry, withered into jerky clinging tightly to his bones.
"Half frost, half withered flesh."
A man beside the brawny warrior was heard speaking coldly:
"The Fiery Sun Divine Skill and the Cold Moon Skill!
"So, it’s the Yang Monarch and the Moon Monarch themselves..."
"You have a keen eye," Dugu Yu said with a smile. "My wife and I vanished twenty years ago. I’m surprised anyone still recognizes us."
If Liao Chengfeng were still alive, he would probably find those words disturbingly familiar.
But the man opposite them didn’t engage in banter, simply waving his hand.
"The Yang and Moon Monarchs are no ordinary individuals. We can’t fight them one-on-one.
"Our top priority is to separate sun from moon. We cannot allow them the chance to fight together."
As his voice fell, the others nodded and, without another word, leaped up to attack the two Monarchs.
These were all masters, famous for years, who had once wreaked havoc upon the martial world.
And were eventually taken in by the Heartless Ghost Mansion.
They had been away from the martial world for years, but they were no greenhorns.
When they struck, they displayed immense skill in experience, martial arts, and strategy.
They didn’t need words; a single glance was often enough to know their role.
In the blink of an eye, the scene erupted into a chaotic melee.
Some fighters weaved between the Yang and Moon Monarchs, attempting to break their coordinated assault.
Others unleashed torrents of Sword Qi, their feints and attacks always hitting their mark.
Another, with his indestructible body, would appear at critical moments to block fatal blows for his allies.
Meanwhile, an old scoundrel circled the periphery, gleefully scattering some kind of powder from his hands...
Jiang Ran watched quietly for a while. He knew that although the Yang and Moon Monarchs’ martial arts were profound, it still wasn’t enough for them to slaughter this entire group in one go.
They would be tied down for some time.
He wondered, however, about the fight in the fog between Tong Wanli and the Young Manor Master.
Jiang Ran had always been wary of the Young Manor Master of the Heterodox Manor.
He turned and saw that Ye Jingshuang was also staring in that direction.
So he said softly,
"Should we go take a look?"
"Okay."
Ye Jingshuang immediately nodded.
Jiang Ran glanced at Liu Wenshan.
"Senior, please wait here a moment. There are others in the shadows now who can ensure your safety."
"There are others in the shadows?"
Liu Wenshan was stunned. He had thought Jiang Ran came alone, not expecting him to have backup.
"Of course. To deal with people like these, one should naturally bring backup."
Jiang Ran smiled. "I can only do so much on my own. What would I do if a few of them managed to escape?"
Liu Wenshan nodded repeatedly.
"You’ve thought of everything."
Jiang Ran smiled and said to Ye Jingshuang,
"It’s easy to get separated in the fog. Shuang’Er, please bear with me."
’Bear with what?’ Ye Jingshuang wondered.
Just then, she felt her hand being enveloped by Jiang Ran’s. Her heart fluttered as she understood his meaning.
