"I can't remember anything that happened. The only thing I could remember was that I went over to your apartment."

Xiaoyun's answer seemed to have surprised Houqin a little, as she suddenly looked away from his face.

"Tianci or Leyan didn't tell you anything?"

"They sent me down here to talk to you. They both kept their mouth shut rather than telling me upfront."

"Bunch of asshole... I don't think you'll want to know about it."

"What? Why not? Give me a reason why I shouldn't know what happened that day." Xiaoyun pressed.

"You don't want to know."

As Houqin repeated the same answer, it only made Xiaoyun more frustrated. It almost felt as if the whole world knew what happened that day.

"I'm not leaving until I learn what happened."

"Why do you want to know about it that badly?"

"Because I know I can fix it. All I need is you to tell me what's going on. Houqin, please. You have to give me a chance."

"There is no fix. You already tried it... Nothing is going to change."

Seeing her sound so defeated made Xiaoyun's heart ache. Especially as she started putting her gas mask back on.

"What's the worst that could happen? You're already all..."

Xiaoyun's lips couldn't continue. He knew his next few words would hurt her, but he needed to get to the bottom of it.

"Everything is messed up. Does it really hurt if you tell me what happened that day? Just tell me, and I'll leave."

"If you love me, can you please leave me alone? Please. Stop. Asking. It."

"Houqin..."

Neither side spoke up as the room fell into an awkward silence... Until Houqin suddenly collapsed onto the table.

"Houqin?"

His concern went unanswered as Houqin continued to keep her head facing down, covering everything underneath her arms.

"L-Leave."

"What?"

Xiaoyun could hear Houqin's voice start to stutter, with the desk she was leaning on shaking alongside her entire body.

"Leave now, p-please!" Houqin pleaded as her voice started to sound more and more desperate.

"I'm not leaving. What's wrong?"

As Xiaoyun walked up closer and closer to have a better look, he suddenly could hear a low growling voice.

The familiar, low-pitched voice he had heard in the past. The same one that popped up in his key memory.

That exact day.

"Leave!"

Houqin finally turned back around to face him. Through the gas mask, Xiaoyun could still tell she was in pain.

It wasn't any physical pain. Rather, the pain was in the mind. Her red eyes were full of hatred as she stared towards his face.

Xiaoyun walked one step closer, then another. All the way until he was standing right before her face.

"I remember now."

"Woar!"

All the remaining sanity seemed to have been lost as Houqin lunged into his arms, pinning him down onto the floor.

Her mouth was clearly trying to bite his neck, but the gas mask made it almost as if she was trying to kiss him.

On the sides, her fingers were constantly digging at his chest, only for the glove to block her completely from even making a scratch.

"I love you, Houqin."

The moment Xiaoyun leaned forward to kiss her on the gas mask, it enraged Houqin even more as she started to attempt to bite through it.

"I'm going to fix everything. Everything is going to be just a dream... Try to close your eyes, okay?"

His words were completely ignored. But he didn't intend it for the Houqin in front of him as he started looking for a gap.

A single gap for him to get in touch with Houqin's skin.

"Did they really have to put a full latex suit underneath all these clothes?"

The latex was so skin-tight from her toe up to her neck. Even the glove was specially made to be all connected in one piece.

"They really didn't leave a single bit of breathing room, huh?"

After going underneath her clothes, he finally found a zipper in the back. But it somehow jammed right at the top as it refused to go down.

"Fuck it."

Both of Xiaoyun's hands quickly reached behind her head before pulling the gas mask aside. Within milliseconds, Houqin exposed her sharp fangs.

Clank!

"Whew."

Xiaoyun let out a small sigh of relief as Houqin's sharp teeth failed to penetrate a perfectly placed thin layer of steel that ran smoothly around his neck.

"Nice try. Now my turn."

As Houqin tried to bite down on his face next, Xiaoyun didn't give her the chance. He immediately leaned his head forward.

Blinding lights flashed in the entire room, followed by a bunch of mysterious gas floating out from the middle.

When the gas touched the lightbulb glasses, it instantly started melting away. Even the concrete ceiling and the marble floor began to make a searing sound.

It was like a hot metal rod being put into cold water, as more and more steam soon started reacting with all kinds of dust around them.

Everything around them was literally melting into liquid.

"The two of you! Stop now! You're going to melt the whole house down!"

A voice suddenly came out of the corner of the basement, causing the bright light to finally go away alongside the mysterious gas around them.

At the same time, everything that had been liquefied by the gas immediately turned back into solid, albeit in completely different shapes.

"Houqin, are you feeling better?"

'I..."

No words could come out of Houqin's mouth as she couldn't believe the face she was looking at in front of Xioayun's fully reflective skin.

It was her regular, normal face. The same face just a few days prior at work, before everything went wrong.

"Told you I can do it. All you had to do was give me another chance... Ahem! Ahem!"

"Xiaoyun, you okay?"

"I'm fine. Just a little lightheaded—"

Before Xiaoyun could finish talking, he collapsed onto her chest, scaring Houqin for a second before she felt the heartbeat from his hands.

"Xiaoyun! Houqin! Are you two fine?"

As more and more voices came out from the basement exit, Houqin smiled as she looked towards her boyfriend.

"Everything is fine!"

---

"Ah! I'm not a kid again!"

The moment Xiaoyun sat up fully from his nightmare, he was back in his bed. Looking over to the clock, it was noon.

Out the window, the sun was shining brightly. He couldn't tell if a whole day had passed or if he had just slept for a few hours.

"Fuck, how did I fall unconscious again?"

Fortunately for Xiaoyun, he didn't lose his memory again. He could still vividly remember passing out after helping to fix Houqin.

"Where is everyone?"

Not wasting any time, Xiaoyun walked out of the bedroom and into the hallway. Over by the staircase, he soon found his wives sitting on the living room sofa.

"Honey, you're awake!"

"Took you long enough."

"Are you feeling better—"

"I'm fine. How long was I asleep for?" Xiaoyun asked as he slowly walked down the staircase into the living room.

"Three hours." Tianci instantly answered.

"Thank god I didn't sleep through another day... Houqin, are you feeling better?"

As Xiaoyun turned his attention over to Houqin, she slowly nodded her head as she sat in the middle of everyone.

"I feel a lot better."

"That's good to hear... Ahem, why are you still wearing this latex suit?" Xiaoyun curiously asked as he took a seat next to Lily.

"Because you still haven't finished your job yet," Yuqi answered as she let out a mysterious giggle alongside everyone else.

The only person who didn't giggle was Houqin, whose face turned redder and redder as she shyly looked down at her lap.

"My job...? Wait, don't tell me I only fixed your face. There's no way I didn't fix your entire body in a single swoop."

"You really want to take a look?" Yueyue questioned back as she suddenly scooched closer besides her.

"S-Stop it."

Despite Houqin trying to push Yueyue's hands away, she kept trying to grab onto the zipper with everyone just watching.

Even Xiaoyun didn't intervene, as he himself was a little curious what Houqin looked like underneath the latex clothing.

"Okay that's enough you two... Honey, you still have a long way to go to fully heal Houqin's body."

"I know."

As Xiaoyun nodded his head to accept the responsibility, Leyan had gently patting Houqin on the shoulder.

It was almost as if she was a mother sending her daughters away to her newfound husband, forever for life.

"Mom, stop acting so old. Houqin's parent are still alive." Yuqi interupted as she finally couldn't endure the atmosphere.

"Ahem!"

Leyan's cough instantly kept Yuqi quiet. Still, it brought Houqin back to reality as her face quickly changes back to normal.

"Speaking of Houqin's parents, have you or one of you guys send them a message? " Xiaoyun curiously asked,

"Yuqi had told them that Houqin went on a business trip." Shuli answered as she gently poked her finger onto Houqin's face.
