A Chronicle of Life in a Different World

Episode 10: Adventurer # 2

--The Adventurer.

It is anything that responds to various requests, behind the sound of the name.

Some people seem to be adventuring around the country as their names suggest, but most of the time they do so in their towns.

In the case of the abandoned city of Laval, the focus is on keeping the town safe, monitoring “leftovers” visiting from outside the town, alerting and killing approaching monsters, and keeping the abandoned city of Laval alive.

Reurus, who had heard from Natalia, leaned his neck when he heard that he was acting like a vigilante or security guard behind the word 'adventurer'.

"But isn't that a soldier's job?

Protect where they live. That would be nice. In my previous life, the police and others maintained law and order, but I have never heard of such an organization in this world. If there is a substitute, it becomes a soldier controlled by the state.

Because there were soldiers in the village of Shenna, I knew it was Reurus, and I thought it would be a good idea to act as a vigilante, but it would be a soldier's role.

"Boy, what's the name of this town?

"Laval Waste City... right?

"Yes, that's the answer."

Natalia smiles meaningfully when she says that, but as a revulsion, she doesn't fall into her heart. The inner expression might have appeared, but Natalia simply turned the smoke tube in her right hand a few times with her fingertips and didn't get along.

"It exists because it is necessary. That's all the boy needs to know."

"Hah...."

Reurus nods back to words like smoke. There seems to be a reason, but vigilance stood first to penetrate and check.

(It's supposed to be a soldier's job, but not in this place... it's a dump town, so can't you protect it? But why is this town right next to the town of Laval?

I have lived as a serf in Shena village since I was born, but I wonder if there are any important rules that I don't know. Although Reurus thinks like that, he scratches his head to hide his heart when he realizes that he is being stared at by Natalia.

"So what am I supposed to do now?

"I see... please wait a little longer"

That's how Natalia stood up and pulled into the back of the reception. And when he came back less than five minutes later, he offered something to Reus.

"... what is this?

Natalia gave me a business card-sized metal plate. Although the material was unknown because he was not familiar with minerals, a hole was punctured in the blunt metal plate and some kind of lettering was engraved on the surface.

"It's a" Adventurer "registration. Put this chain around your neck."

Aside from the metal plate, a thin chain is passed, and the revulsion is put through the hole in the metal plate and placed on the neck as told. I tried to pull the chain lightly, but it seemed like it was sturdy and didn't look like it could cut a thousand times. It looks like the dog tag in the previous life was only slightly enlarged.

"What does this say? Or maybe the characters are a little strange....."

Is the registration certificate engraved with my personal information? It was a revulsion to think of such a thing, but I am concerned that the letters on the registration certificate appeared to glow lightly.

"Your name, your town, and your position as an Adventurer. I wrote it in" Magic Letters, "but... don't you know?

"I've never heard of it, and I don't even know the usual characters."

When I heard the word "magic letter", I couldn't understand Reurus and answered honestly. It seems to be a special character, but I can only say that as a person who doesn't even know ordinary characters.

(I need to remember the letters of this world quickly.....)

It is a realuse that lived in a country with literacy rates of almost 100 percent in the previous life. It was plain stress to understand words but not letters.

Unlike Japan I spent in my previous life, I can live even if I can't read and write letters. But it would be dangerous not to be able to read what has been given to you by others as it is now.

"It's not the usual characters... well, you can just think of them as letters that don't disappear easily."

"Ah... you have something useful. So, I understand that my name and belonging to Laval Waste City are listed, but what is your position as an Adventurer?

Perhaps there is an "adventurer" as well as a position. I don't think words like assistant director or department manager will come out, but Reus thinks that is the first thing you need to know.

"Now you're running away as an Adventurer... underneath."

Well, that's true.

The feeling of becoming an "adventurer" didn't boil down, but Reurus was convinced by the rating below. Rather, it's creepy to be highly regarded even though you haven't done anything, which can be relieved in that respect.

"Subordinate 'Adventurer'. This is where you are now."

"It's literally down there..."

Maybe it's Natalia's joke. With that in mind, Natalia's gaze at Reurus was serious, and it seemed to be nothing but a joke.

Reurus leans small and leans his neck against the word lower.

"May I assume that there is a junior... that is, intermediate or advanced? If it's lower, then there's higher ranking, and it's all six levels, right? Or is there something sandwiched between them in nine stages?

"Ten. Each rank is divided into lower, middle, and upper ranks, with the upper ranks being the most senior... although it's not always the case to get there."

It was a realuse that dropped his sight on his recognition card, but he couldn't read the text as usual. I didn't know how meaningful the lower rank was, but you might think that holding the position of 'Adventurer' guaranteed a minimum status.

"If you find the body in or out of town with the registration card, please retrieve it as much as you can. I still want to know who died. A little, but I'll also thank you."

"... okay."

I don't know if it's a corpse, but fighting monsters can kill me. Reurus' parents in this world were also killed by monsters. Natalia smiles meaningfully at the reus, which answers with a slightly stiff voice tone.

"And, boy, change that tone. You've become an Adventurer in this abandoned city of Laval, and you're one of us... and if you're spoken to in a scared tone by a child like that, you care about your surroundings."

"That's...."

I thought it was a good Reurus, but if that's the way of the abandoned city of Laval, we'll have to follow it. Most people are younger than Reurus, who has lived for nearly forty years, including the previous life, and there is no need to hesitate to stop respecting them.

"Okay. But I'll let the person who should use the honorific words use it."

That's how Reurus glances at Dominic. It's easy not to use honorific words, but if it's someone who saves your life, it's a different story.

It is just rudeness such as honoring without respect. In that case, the tone the other person seeks will not produce a clash, but it is the conscience that breaks the honoring until the other person is saved.

(A former farmer's slave who speaks respectfully even though he says he hasn't been educated yet... yeah, that's funny.)

Reurus reminds me to refrain from honoring myself. If you look objectively, you can't help but suspect that you're not just a farmer. The “suspicion” was not entirely clear from Natalia's eyes.

"Great. I'm going to have you act as an" adventurer "from now on..."

Natalia advances her words and glimpses Dominic. Dominic nodded back to Natalia, slipping his gaze around, looking at two men.

"Nicola, Sharon. Can I leave it to you?

I can't say no to your request.

"Undertook"

When Dominic calls out, two men step forward in response.

A young man upside down with burning red hair that was cut in a mess, whether it was natural or set. The colour of the hair is the same, but the smile is impressive as the familiarity and ferocity of living together.

By the way, she wore leather armor with noticeable small scratches and a sword hanging from her waist. Other objects that echo daggers and hard sounds - leather bags with stones of affordable size are lowered from the waist belt, creating a familiar atmosphere.

A mid-sexual boy with pupils whose tiny body and intellect colors are invisible.

A red shortcut hair that resembles that of a young man standing next to him, and a look that resembles it everywhere. Compared to them, I don't think they are red others, maybe they are brothers.

This was a partial leather armor with a grey jacket and light clothing that protected the emergency at a minimum, with a caned object in its hand. However, the cane is long and has the same length as its height. Reurus wondered if it would be used for a spear or something, even though there was no tip.

(... hmm?

When I thought about it, Reurus said, "Oh?" and leaned his neck inside out. Beyond the boy's face and equipment, there was more to be drawn to.

(... isn't she a girl?

It is difficult to understand because of the feathered jacket, but as far as the skeleton of the shoulders and hips is concerned, it is more female than male. The chest, which flew its gaze by pretending to confirm the equipment, did not undulate brilliantly, but at the same time, it could not confirm the throat or the Buddha.

"Something on my face?

"... no, it's light for an adventurer, so I was wondering if it's okay."

Surprisingly, rather than expressionless, Reurus shrugged his shoulders.

The voices heard were also low for women and high for men, but it was a range that could suffice if you thought you had not changed your voice yet. If so, I can be convinced of the Buddha's throat, which could not be confirmed.

"I heard what you said. Did you say Reurus? I'm Nicola. This is Sharon, my brother. We'll take care of you for a while."

Nicolas, a red-haired young man, smiles kindly when she says that to interrupt the conversation between Reurus and the others. There was no disgusting atmosphere there, and he purely intended to take care of “juniors”.

"I'm Sharon. I don't know if it's going to be a short relationship or a long relationship, but thank you."

Sharon, a calm boy in contrast to Nicolas, seems to agree to take care of Reurus.

(Brother... brother...)

It was a Reurus who nodded back to Nicolas who introduced Sharon as his brother, but decided that there might be “various” circumstances and said nothing more.

"Come on, Tony recommended it anyway. It's unusual."

"It's true... but it's not the stepsister we were recommended by Dominic."

Lightly introducing herself, Nicolas and Sharon speak to Dominic in a friendly atmosphere. Dominic smiled slightly on his harsh face, showing a revulsion with his thumb.

"I know thanksgiving and stewardship. That would be enough."

"Well, that's the best part."

"Well, I hope so."

Those are Nicolas laughing at each other, but Reurus feels like he's been left behind. Still, when Nicolas turned her gaze immediately, she was slapped in the back by her parents.

Well, let's go now.

"I said... where are you going?

I wonder what "then" is. It was a revulsion that seeped into such doubt, but Nicolas clasped her face and hit her back hard.

"Hey, did Natalia's boss tell you that? Stop that tone first. It's warm and breathtaking. Me and you were recommended by Dominic's boss, so to speak, they're like brothers."

"Gafu... uuuu. Copy that, Mr. Nicolas."

For the first time, I called him Reurus with a focus on Nori, who is close to the sports system. Then, for some reason, Nicolas closed her eyes and shook her shoulders.

"Senpai... doesn't that sound good?"

(It's okay, so....)

It was a revulsion worrying whether to call it casual or talk more crushed, but it wasn't a mistake.

"Hey, Nicola, don't fail to show your juniors what's good about it.

"If a monster eats me on the first day I take care of you, I'll laugh my whole life."

"Ugh! I knew it!

Nicolas immediately responded with a teasing voice from other "adventurers" who were watching from afar. It was a Reurus that I had slightly perceived in previous conversations, but it seems that Nicolas is a character that should be appreciated even with people in good health.

Well then, Sharon, I'll leave it to you.

"... okay."

Sharon, on the other hand, seems sedentary and cool. I am still talking to Natalia, but it seems that there is some kind of meaning in it, so I didn't feel like it was a realuse.

I would like to confirm it if possible, but I couldn't stand it if a snake came out after poking at it. That's why I change the subject by not listening.

"So where are you going, Mr. Nicolas?

"Are you sure? It's about killing monsters."

Nicolas tells Reurus where to go when he tries to track the conversation for the first time. However, the content was unexpected as a revulsion.

"Dealing with monsters... I'm bare hands."

Do I have to pick up stones and beat monsters again? The other day, the rabbit just happened to be knocked down, and if you were told to do the same, it was a revulsion that shook your body that you were likely to die.

"The Adventurers will lend you weapons and equipment.

But Natalia sandwiched her mouth to wipe out the fear of Reurus.

"... I didn't hear you."

"Someone tried to stop me."

Apparently, when I heard about the water tax exemption, there was an explanation about it. It was Reurus himself who blocked it, so he was ill and slightly distracted.

"We can't let them fight monsters and suspicious people with their bare hands, can we? The quality is not so good, but we should at least be armed."

Or perhaps you can defeat the monster with your bare hands, and Reurus scratches his head.

Even when I took down the Horned Rabbit, the stone I picked up was because of the weapon. I'd appreciate it if you could lend me your weapons and armor. Nicolas cried out with a serious face to Reurus, who decided to do so.

"Weapons and armor are best suited to your body. When you've saved up, you should make something decent."

"Really?

"Ah. It's a lot to suit your physical and muscular strength... Even if you use a weapon with a different center of gravity, it's easier to handle. We need to make sure that the armor fits the size of the body."

In light of the knowledge of the previous life, Reus was convinced that the size of the clothes should be appropriate. A tailor-made suit would fit your body better than a cheaper mass production suit and would be less physically and mentally burdensome.

"Besides, the ones you can borrow in the union are really bad quality. If you're bad, you can't do it in one fight."

"Oh, does that mean the union is poorly managed?

It was Nicolas who drew attention to Reurus, but Natalia shook her neck sideways as if she was in a hurry with a cold voice.

"No, I don't think so, Sebastian. That's not true! When I ran away, I was saved!

Nicola explains while scratching her cold sweat. Natalia seemed satisfied with Nicolas's appearance as she wiped out the sweat, and she smiled at her mouth.

"Fufufu... well, that's fine. I'll miss it. Instead, take good care of the boy."

Uuuu, I understand.

Exhaling relieved, Nicola stroked her shoulders down. Turning back to Reurus, he pointed his thumb at the door built in the corner of the reception.

"Then we'll fix your gear."

"Yes, please... no, um, please, senpai?

The answer is always in honor, and Reurus corrects with his neck tilted. Including the previous life, Nicolas and Sharon become young people who live only about half their lives, but in this world they are older and seniors as "adventurers".

As a result, I am confused about how to speak even if I am conscious not to use respectful words as much as possible. As a result, Nicolas walked away without showing a trace of dust, even though he was a bit of a cheeky and arrogant word for Reurus.

It was a realuse that followed Nicolas, thinking that it would take time to get used to it, but Nicolas looked back with her hands on the door of the room where the weapons were placed.

Well, before you choose a weapon or something, I'd like to give you a piece of advice.

Nicolas laughed bitterly at the reaction of Reurus to the words.

"Don't be so scared. Just tell me the minimum rules to remember as an" adventurer "in this town."

"You mean to protect this town from monsters...?

I heard from Natalia about the role of the Adventurer. Asked if there was anything else, Nicolas pulled in her sweet smile and turned her gaze into a sharp one.

"─ Never do anything stubborn. If you just keep it, most things will work out."

Reurus answered silently to Nicolas, telling her seriously, even with a twist.

(Is it a defect or a pussy... a nasty freelance?

It's also an old type. Reurus thinks about the position of the Adventurer, but the role required of the Adventurer may not change that much.

(After all, maybe it's a little early.....)

Even though there was no other way to live, it wasn't easy to be caught up in the privilege of being an 'adventurer'. However, there was still no other way to eat, and Reurus sighed deeply.
