Chapter 259 - 167: Shefilya’s Home 2
There were even fresh ingredients, both vegetables and meat. It was almost like being back in the modern world.
’This is great...’
The inn they had been staying at was actually quite good and comfortable. However, it was a step down from the lounges the Association prepared for Bronze Level Adventurers and above. And those lounges, in turn, were in a completely different league compared to the villa before them.
The second floor consisted of several rooms.
Each room was very spacious. Pushing open the doors revealed neatly made beds and spotless floors. It was clear someone was in charge of cleaning them regularly.
Lin Mo chose the master bedroom. Ali, as expected, picked the room next to his, and Lena took the one next to hers.
Every room was very large and came equipped with its own separate toilet and shower.
Lin Mo lay on the large, soft bed, feeling his body sink into it. He couldn’t help but sigh with emotion. "It’s great to be rich."
After resting for a little while, Lin Mo got ready to go downstairs and cook.
That’s right. Since the villa had a kitchen and ingredients, and he didn’t have anything else to do today, Lin Mo had decided to cook himself. That was why they hadn’t chosen to eat out.
However, just as he got to the bottom of the stairs, he heard the sound of a Key turning in the lock at the villa’s main entrance.
’What’s going on?’
’Isn’t this a villa belonging to the City Lord’s Family? Why would someone be here... Could it be Feney?’
’Or maybe the Maid who comes to clean?’
CREAK—
The main door was slowly pushed open, revealing a petite "young lady" dressed in a Maid’s uniform.
Well, she looked like a young lady, but her actual age was several years older.
Her beautiful, ivory-colored short hair covered one side of her face. Her exposed gold eye met Lin Mo’s, completely devoid of expression.
Although not a single flicker of emotion could be seen on the surface, Lin Mo had a feeling that she was surprised.
"What are you doing here?"
Lin Mo asked, a little confused.
"..."
Shefilya was silent for two seconds before she spoke. "This is my house."
"Eh?"
This time, it was Lin Mo’s turn to be stunned.
"Your house? Don’t you live at the City Lord’s Mansion?"
Besides, when he’d asked Feney, he had specifically asked for an "unoccupied" villa.
"I have a room at the City Lord’s Mansion, but I occasionally come back here to live."
As Shefilya spoke, she took off her small black leather boots, and her slender, smooth calves instantly caught Lin Mo’s eye.
Shefilya’s feet were as petite as she was; they looked small enough to be held completely in one’s palm.
After changing into her indoor slippers, Shefilya looked up, followed Lin Mo’s gaze, and said bluntly, "Please don’t project your strange, pent-up fantasies onto me, Mr. Pervert."
If it were the Lin Mo from when he had just transmigrated, he might have been too embarrassed to speak. But now, he was a "seasoned veteran," so he responded quite naturally, "Nonsense. It’s just a look of appreciation..."
Shefilya rolled her eyes at him, then couldn’t be bothered with him anymore and walked straight to the kitchen.
She opened the icebox, took out some vegetables and meat, and was about to close it when she paused. Then she took out three times as much.
’Is she planning to cook?’
Lin Mo watched her bustling figure, exchanged a look with Ali, and also walked into the kitchen.
"Need any help?"
Shefilya looked up, a rare expression on her face, and gave him a highly skeptical look. "A Maid’s work is very tiring. Please don’t create unnecessary trouble for me."
"..."
’She really doesn’t mince her words.’
Just like Lin Mo’s first impression of her, she had a bit of a "poison tongue" attribute.
"I know how to cook. It’s not like you haven’t seen me do it while we were adventuring."
’And you’ve eaten it many times.’
Shefilya thought back for a moment. Although his techniques were relatively simple, the food did taste quite good.
But she still waved her hand. "Even so, there’s no need. Please just wait patiently."
"Alright then."
Since she was so insistent, Lin Mo gave up. He was happy to have the free time anyway; all he had to do was sit and wait for the meal to be served.
He was about to turn and leave, but Shefilya suddenly called out to him.
"Wait a moment..."
Lin Mo turned his head and met that gold eye.
"Was it Miss Feney who sent you here, or Lady Beixila?"
Although he didn’t know why she was asking this question, Lin Mo thought for a moment before answering, "I guess you could say it was City Lord Beixila?"
After all, Feney had gone back to ask her mother, who then said they could move in.
"...I understand."
After speaking, Shefilya turned back to her cooking.
Lin Mo went to the living room, where Lena was sitting awkwardly on the edge of the sofa, daring only to use half of the seat, still looking around with a mixture of curiosity and nervousness.
’She’ll get used to it after staying here for a while.’
Ali, by contrast, was much more at ease. Aside from her initial surprise, she was now lounging comfortably on the sofa, eating pastries.
"This is delicious! Lin Mo, you should try some too."
As she spoke, she brought a pastry right to Lin Mo’s mouth, completely oblivious to Lena’s strange gaze.
There was a hint of resentment in that gaze. Lin Mo gave a sheepish smile, took the pastry with his hand, and then put it in his mouth.
"It really is good."
They didn’t have to wait long. About half an hour later, Shefilya walked out of the kitchen carrying plates of exquisite dishes.
Lena and Ali went up to help. Shefilya didn’t refuse, but she did give them a slight bow to express her thanks.
’Her etiquette, her professionalism...’
It seemed Shefilya was always like this, as if being a Maid wasn’t just a job for her, but a part of her identity.
Lin Mo sat down at the table. Just as he expected, Shefilya stood by his side with no intention of sitting down.
"Why don’t you eat with us?"
Lin Mo tried to persuade her.
"Don’t mind me. Please, enjoy your meal..."
Shefilya didn’t answer directly, but her words were tantamount to a polite refusal.
To be honest, Lin Mo wasn’t quite used to having someone stand next to him while he ate.
But this was something Shefilya insisted on. Even Feney couldn’t persuade her, so he wasn’t going to waste his breath.
Shefilya also took care of all the cleanup after the meal, which made Lin Mo feel quite embarrassed.
’She is the City Lord’s family’s Maid, after all.’
Back in his room, he naturally washed up first. Walking out of the bathroom in his pajamas, Lin Mo used Wind Attribute Magic Power to dry his hair while thinking about his plans for tomorrow.
Feney was going into seclusion to prepare for her promotion, and Landon and the Cyan Orchid Squad needed to rest. That left just him and Ali.
It didn’t seem worth it for just the two of them to take on a proper quest.
’Might as well go kill some Goblins in the outer areas.’
’It’ll be a good chance to practice some of my lower-Level Skills.’
That way, it would be relaxing, but he could still improve his strength at a decent pace.
The situation in Silver Stream City and Loran Forest was growing more and more confusing, and Lin Mo felt a certain amount of pressure. No matter what, he couldn’t stop getting stronger.
He decided that for the next few days, he would really let loose on those Ordinary Goblins!
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—
Just then, a knock came from the door. Lin Mo knew exactly who it was, so he got up to open it. "Ali, you’re here..."
He trailed off, because the person at the door wasn’t Ali, but Shefilya, holding a tray.
This was truly a bit awkward.
"Your after-dinner fruit."
Shefilya, however, walked into the room as if no one else was there, placed the fruit platter on the table, and turned to leave.
Just before leaving, she suddenly glanced at Lin Mo, inexplicably making him feel a bit of pressure.
’Is it just my imagination?’
’I feel like Shefilya has been a little more polite to me recently, but the way she looks at me has a hint of "interrogation" to it.’
Lin Mo could actually guess at a few things, but he didn’t like to get ahead of himself, so he just shook his head and put it out of his mind.
A little while later, there was another knock on the door.
Lin Mo opened the door. This time, it really was his big bad wolf...
