Lin Mo did as Feney had instructed and walked deep into the church.

In contrast to the hustle and bustle outside, there weren’t nearly as many people inside the church.

He encountered a few Priests along the way who inquired about his visit, but they were mostly amicable and not at all aggressive.

He continued deeper until he reached the main hall, where the kind-faced, elderly Bishop Fletcher was already waiting for him.

"Welcome to the Holy Light Church, Lin Mo."

He smiled at Lin Mo and beckoned him over. "Priest Feney has already told me of your purpose in coming. Given your past contributions to the Church, there is, of course, no issue with you wishing to learn the Healing Technique."

As Fletcher spoke, he produced a Skill Scroll.

"However, Priest Feney told me that you learn Skills with incredible speed, and that you don’t need it as a gift, only to borrow it briefly... I must admit, I’m quite curious about this."

He handed the Skill Scroll to Lin Mo. "Would you perhaps be willing to demonstrate for me, right here and now?"

"No problem."

Lin Mo nodded, unfurled the Scroll, and read it carefully. A moment later, he froze.

Priest Skills seemed to be slightly different from those of a Mage. Although they still followed the rules of Magic Circuits that Flora had taught him and operated within the normal system of Magic, they appeared to have other requirements beyond the circuits themselves...

According to the Scroll, these were "the gaze of the divine" and "piety toward the Holy Light."

Back on Blue Star, Lin Mo would have scoffed at this.

But in a world where such Extraordinary Strength existed, it was hard to say whether or not gods were real.

’So, can I even successfully learn a Light Attribute Magic like the Healing Technique?’

To be honest, Lin Mo wasn’t sure anymore.

’In any case, I’ll just have to try.’

He followed the Magic Circuits indicated on the Scroll and, recalling the sensation of Flora’s Magic Power surging through his body that day, began to attempt the two circuits.

The process was incredibly smooth, seemingly no different from learning any other form of Magic.

’The crucial part is the next step: the combination...’

According to the Scroll, if one’s piety toward the Holy Light was not recognized by the divine, then it would be impossible to complete the construction of the combined circuits, form the Light Element’s Magic Power, and thus successfully cast the Healing Technique.

Lin Mo understood none of this talk of piety and recognition. He stopped overthinking it and, just as he had done before, combined the two circuits based on his prior experience.

Magic Power surged through his body, following the path recorded on the Scroll. The Spiritual Strength latent within the Magic Scroll also activated, making Lin Mo’s thoughts and the operational path of his Magic Power even clearer and smoother.

Finally, a golden light ignited in his palm.

Standing to the side, Fletcher’s somewhat cloudy old eyes flew wide open as he stared in utter shock.

Normally, anyone first encountering Light Attribute Magic had to undergo a trial of the Holy Light, a process that naturally took some time.

The shorter the trial, the stronger one’s Affinity for light, which also meant greater recognition and favor from the divine.

For example, when he himself had undergone the trial at age sixteen, it had taken him a full hour of communing and resonating with the Holy Light before he finally received its response.

This speed was not considered slow; it was why, after many years, he had been able to become the Bishop of the Church in Silver Stream City.

For many, passing the trial took several hours; for some, it could even take days or months!

But in this world, there were also a rare few who passed the trial with extreme speed—as if there were no trial at all—successfully resonating with the Light Element in under a minute.

Such individuals were called the "Chosen One" by the Church. Experience had shown that every Chosen One, provided they could mature without issue, would ultimately achieve a rank no lower than a Cardinal of the Holy Light Church Headquarters.

And considering that even including the Pope and the four Archbishops, there were only seventeen of these top-level positions in the Church, it was clear just how rare a Chosen One was!

Fletcher was a fortunate man; in his life, he had already witnessed the birth of a Chosen One twice.

Lin Mo was the second. The one before him was named Feney.

And Lin Mo’s speed was even a bit faster than Feney’s had been back then!

Before Fletcher’s shock could even subside, the Light Element in Lin Mo’s hand transformed, taking on a form the Bishop knew very well.

The Healing Technique!

"Skill [Healing Technique] learned. Acquired: Magic Power +1!"

[Healing Technique] Lv1 (0/10): Consumes Magic Power to form the Light Element, soothing pain and helping wounds heal quickly. Healing Effect is dependent on the amount of Magic Power invested.

Lin Mo had a strange expression on his face as he looked at the message that appeared before him.

’How to put it... He really hadn’t felt any difference between this and learning Magic of other Attributes.’

’All that stuff on the Scroll about "the gaze of the divine" and "a heart full of piety" really just seemed like needless mystification, didn’t it?’

Fletcher witnessed the entire process with his own eyes. He took a deep breath, struggling to calm his racing heart.

’That speed... It’s truly as astonishing as Feney claimed!’

And so, he reached into his wide sleeve and produced another Skill Scroll. "Lin Mo, my friend, congratulations. The divine has granted you its highest blessing, and the Holy Light will illuminate your path forward. Please, take this Scroll. It is a gift."

’Is this really happening?!’

Lin Mo’s eyes lit up. This was no time for false modesty. He accepted the Scroll from Bishop Fletcher, thanked him sincerely, and then slowly unfurled it.
