Chapter 194 - 143: Cooperation, Learning the Healing Technique
Just as Lin Mo had said, by the time they woke up, washed, dressed, and arrived at the dining hall, Feney had already been waiting for some time.
Shefilya still stood slightly behind Feney, her hands folded in front of her. With her cold expression, she looked like a respawning NPC.
Breakfast at the City Lord’s Mansion was relatively simple, consisting of common fare, but it was prepared with more finesse than what you’d find outside.
After a quick breakfast, Lin Mo hurried out the door.
The first thing on his agenda today was to contact his next teammates.
Ever since parting ways with Alton and the others, Lin Mo had been mulling over this issue.
Adventuring with just three people had many inconveniences. Whether it was traveling, fighting, or even resting, their small numbers created a lot of extra trouble.
But now that Lin Mo had his own squad, he couldn’t just join someone else’s team like before.
Finding teammates was a troublesome affair. Vetting new members for both skill and character was a major undertaking, and it was hard to guarantee their quality.
The best solution in this situation was to collaborate with another squad to complete missions together.
Although the mission rewards would have to be split, it also meant they could accept more missions and even challenge higher-difficulty ones.
Lin Mo only needed to complete one D-Level and two E-Level missions to be promoted to a Bronze Level Adventurer.
He planned to knock out all three of these missions on this next trip.
As for who to collaborate with, he naturally already had someone in mind.
That’s right—it was the Cyan Orchid Squad, who had participated in the Silver Moon Town rescue mission with him.
He had discussed the matter with Landon, the Cyan Orchid Squad’s leader, in a conversation after the battle. They had already drafted a rough plan for collaboration; it just needed the final approval.
And now, Lin Mo was on his way to meet the members of the Cyan Orchid Squad, discuss the specific details, and purchase some basic supplies for the trip.
He didn’t bring anyone with him this time. Ali was still at the City Lord’s Mansion, having asked Shefilya to be her training partner.
Feney, on the other hand, had gone to the Church...
’Right, I need to make a trip there later, too,’ Lin Mo thought.
He made a beeline for one of Silver Stream City’s most famous taverns—the Rushing Wolf Tavern.
Lin Mo pushed open the door and saw a group of Adventurers sitting in a circle at a very conspicuous table. Seated at the head was none other than Landon.
"Lin Mo! Over here..."
Landon waved and stood up to greet him.
The other Adventurers also greeted him, and Lin Mo returned their gestures one by one.
They had seen each other more than once during the defense of Silver Moon Town. While not exactly friends, they were at least familiar faces.
Now, however, it was time for proper, formal introductions.
"I’m Huck, a Level 2 Warrior. It’s good to meet you, Lin Mo."
Huck was a cheerful-looking young man, likely no older than twenty-five, with decent talent.
Lin Mo remembered him quite well. On their first night in Silver Moon Town, while intercepting Goblins to prevent them from attacking the front lines, this kid had apparently tried to flirt with Feney, only to be shot down, of course.
"I’m Sheela, a Level 2 Ranger."
Sheela was the only woman in the Cyan Orchid Squad. She looked to be around thirty years old and wasn’t particularly beautiful, but she seemed to have a very straightforward personality.
"Sid. Level 3 Assassin."
The slender young man nodded at Lin Mo. He had joined the Assassin squad during the final battle and was one of its members, so compared to the others, he had a more direct understanding of Lin Mo’s power.
"I’m Benny, a Level 2 Knight."
The last one was a middle-aged man with an honest, good-natured face, who looked to be the steady and reliable type.
People with the Knight Profession mostly seemed to be this way.
It wasn’t some stereotype about the Profession; rather, people with this kind of personality were highly likely to choose to become a Knight when they set out on their path.
Including Landon, the Cyan Orchid Squad currently had a total of five members.
"Our squad is the Silver Radiance Squad. The members are myself, Feney, and Ali, all of whom you’ve met before."
"Feney is that beautiful young Priest, right?"
Sheela nodded. "And Ali is the Half-Beastman lady?"
"That’s right. They are a Level 1 Priest and a Warrior who is close to Level 2, respectively."
Close to Level 2.
The squad members exchanged glances. They really wanted to say that "close to Level 2" was still Level 1, but considering the Silver Radiance Squad’s past achievements were plain to see, if he said it, then they’d accept it.
"And finally, there’s me..."
Lin Mo pointed to himself, and everyone’s curious gazes immediately focused on him.
Although they had seen Lin Mo fight before and knew he was strong, they never imagined he would later display such an outrageous level of power.
Come to think of it, during the simple introductions back in Silver Moon Town, he had seemingly only mentioned that he was a Professional Level Warrior.
How to put it...
That was true, but it clearly wasn’t so simple.
Everyone, including Landon, was extremely curious about how many Professions Lin Mo actually had, and just how strong he really was.
"Lin Mo. Level 3 Warrior, Level 2 Assassin, and Level 1 Mage."
They all sucked in a sharp breath.
Even though they could have guessed most of this from his previous battles, hearing it confirmed directly from Lin Mo himself was still utterly shocking.
It wasn’t just two professions—it was three!
And one of them was Mage, the most powerful and difficult Profession of all!
Landon was just as shocked, but not surprised.
As he had thought, one could roughly deduce this information from his performance in the previous battles.
’Still... this level of strength, even including the performance I witnessed with my own eyes that night, is certainly powerful, but it’s clearly not enough to achieve such an incredible combat record.’
’Is he still holding back, or does his squad have other members?’
Landon clearly remembered the young woman in a Maid’s uniform that Lin Mo had suddenly brought back from outside.
Even if she wasn’t an official member, that powerful "Maid" must have a deep connection to the Silver Radiance Squad.
Their spectacular combat record was most likely thanks to her.
But it was enough to know these things in his heart; there was no need to say them out loud.
The group had a few drinks, chatted freely, and quickly drafted the terms of their upcoming collaboration.
It was actually quite simple. The most important issue was the distribution of reward money, and since both parties were surprisingly in agreement on this point, they reached a deal very quickly.
A fifty-fifty split.
On the surface, this seemed somewhat disadvantageous for the Cyan Orchid Squad, which had more members and greater strength on paper.
But considering Lin Mo’s likely special status, the hidden powerhouse who could practically guarantee mission safety, and the fact that their squad had a Priest... taking all these factors into account, splitting the rewards evenly seemed perfectly reasonable.
With the most important matter settled, the rest was just drinking and shooting the breeze, chatting together and discussing what kind of missions they might take.
Of course, the specific details would have to wait until they visited the Association tomorrow.
Lin Mo chatted for a while longer before taking his leave.
He had other things to do.
First was buying basic supplies, which was simple enough—a trip to the Adventurer’s Commercial Street would take care of it.
Then he also had to stop by the Church...
As Lin Mo thought about this, he cast [Clear Stream Technique] on himself.
[Clear Stream Technique] Skill Level +1
A utility spell like this needed to be used frequently in daily life to level it up.
Of course, if he was already clean and there was nothing for the Skill to affect, it wouldn’t grant any progress.
This included getting dirty on purpose and then using it multiple times in a short period; apart from the first cast, the increase in Skill Level would be greatly diminished.
[Clear Stream Technique] was an Excellent Level Skill, and its Magic Power consumption and mental strain were not insignificant. Even on a day off, there was no need to torture himself; practicing a few times was enough.
Thanks to these previous experiments, Lin Mo’s [Clear Stream Technique] Skill Level had reached (4/10).
To level this Skill up quickly, he’d probably have to use it for its true purpose: alleviating the effects of "Burning" or "Corrosion."
He stood under the sun for a while, letting the water on his body slowly evaporate.
Lin Mo bought the basic supplies for the next few days at the Adventurer’s Commercial Street, then headed straight for the Church.
The third thing he had to do today was to learn the basic Skill of a Church Priest—"Healing Technique."
Normally, even for a basic Skill, one would have to join the Church and become a Novice Nun or an Apprentice Priest to learn it.
But Lin Mo’s situation was a bit different.
It wasn’t because of his connection to Feney. Rather, by killing the Crimson Flame Tiger on a previous mission, he had helped the Church discover the presence of Undead Creatures deep within the Loran Forest in a timely manner. This was no small contribution.
’Exchanging that service for the right to use a "Healing Technique" Scroll shouldn’t be too much to ask.’
Arriving at the Church, he found it bustling with a constant stream of people coming and going. Among them were ordinary believers as well as injured Adventurers seeking Healing.
As a super-organization that, like the Association, was spread across the entire Continent, the Church possessed even greater renown and cohesion than the Adventurer’s Association.
Because of this, the area where the cathedral was located was almost always one of the busiest districts in any town or city.
Following the crowded throng, Lin Mo finally managed to make his way inside the Church.
He then saw Feney, dressed in a Nun’s habit, helping with Healing.
Because she was beautiful, kind-hearted, and powerful, and her Healing was effective, a long line had unsurprisingly formed in front of Feney.
Speaking of which, Priests could also earn money by helping with Healing. The Church only took a 10% cut of the income, which could be considered very generous.
For Feney, however, this bit of money was probably just pocket change to buy snacks with.
"Mr. Lin Mo?"
After finishing her Healing on an Adventurer, Feney looked up, saw Lin Mo, and immediately waved. "I’ve already spoken with Grandpa Fletcher. You can just go inside the Church and find him directly."
