Chapter 197 - 144: Class Change and Holy Knight, Level 2 Mage
But these were not things he should be worrying about right now. Lin Mo put away the Scroll that he couldn’t learn for the time being. After thanking Bishop Fletcher again, he took his leave.
As he passed through the outer hall of the Church, he greeted Feney. She looked like she intended to heal a few more Adventurers, so Lin Mo reminded her not to work too hard, especially since she had to go out on an adventure tomorrow.
On the way, Lin Mo looked at his own panel.
His Magic Power had increased by another point after learning the Healing Technique, which meant his Basic Magic Attribute had reached 20. ’I can finally advance to a Level 2 Mage!’
"Advancement conditions met. Professional Mage (Lv. 1) is advancing... Current Profession: Professional Mage (Lv. 2)."
"You have received a Professional Attribute Amplification: Magic Power +2, Spirit +1!"
The attribute amplification gained from advancing as a Mage was the same as other Professions: a total of three points, with two going to Magic Power and one to Spirit.
His preparations were nearly complete. It was time to head back to the City Lord’s Mansion.
’Of course, I’m not going back to rest. I’m going to find Shefilya to be my sparring partner.’
The Resilience skill was incredibly difficult to level up through daily battles with ordinary Demons. Its Skill Level only increased when he faced powerful opponents.
However, as Lin Mo’s combat style grew more versatile, he no longer had to rely on direct confrontation, even against reasonably strong opponents. Sometimes he would choose to wear them down from a distance, waiting for an opening to strike a fatal blow.
This fighting style provided even fewer opportunities to level up Resilience. If he wanted to increase its Skill Level quickly, finding a sparring partner was his only option.
For the training to be effective at Lin Mo’s current Level, he needed a sparring partner who was at least a Level 3, and preferably a Level 4 or higher, Professional. This was no easy task and would cost a great deal of money.
Luckily, with Shefilya around, Lin Mo could get his training for "free."
To be fair, it wasn’t *exactly* free. He had given her a large share of the rewards from their previous mission, which could be considered a form of payment in a way.
Although, Shefilya hadn’t kept a single coin for herself, instead turning around and giving it all to Feney.
Back at the City Lord’s Mansion, Ali’s special training session with Shefilya had just ended. The exhausted Little Wolf Girl retreated to her room to rest, and Lin Mo arrived just in time to take her place.
"What do you need?"
Shefilya was the same as always, her face completely expressionless. But compared to when they first met, the look she gave Lin Mo had clearly softened a little.
’Well, at least 5% softer...’
"You use Flying Knives, right?"
Lin Mo asked.
Shefilya didn’t say a word. Her hand swept past her waist, and four Flying Knives appeared between her fingers. Lin Mo had no idea how she concealed them.
Lin Mo thought for a moment. "Alright, then. Throw the Flying Knives at me."
His Resilience skill now had a minor damage-reflection effect. If Shefilya attacked him in close combat, she would take that reflected damage. Even though the amount was small, Shefilya was an Assassin and didn’t have a high Constitution, so ranged attacks were a better option.
The damage reflection from Resilience couldn’t just be applied out of thin air, after all.
Shefilya tilted her head, a hint of confusion in her eyes. "Are you sure?"
"I’m sure."
As he spoke, Lin Mo began circulating his Magic Power, preparing to cast the Earth Shield Skill.
However, before he was ready, Shefilya’s Flying Knife was already hurtling toward him, aimed right at his torso.
Of course, with Shefilya’s skill, she had naturally avoided any vital organs. The blow would be enough to run him through and make him bleed, but it wouldn’t cause any serious injury.
’Just as I thought! This girl is definitely getting some personal revenge!’
Lin Mo ground his teeth in frustration. With no time to dodge, he hastily activated Resilience.
SHLICK—
Even with the aid of Resilience, the Flying Knife still sank three or four centimeters into his body. The pain made him grimace.
"Hey, wait a second! I wasn’t ready!"
Lin Mo shouted, seeing she was about to throw another one.
"Tsk."
Shefilya did obediently stop, but ’did she really just click her tongue at me?!’
’Does this girl think one stab wasn’t satisfying enough?’
’Is she for real? I just "accidentally" bumped into her twice. It’s not like there was anything to grab, anyway. So petty... Just you wait. I’ll get my revenge eventually!’
Lin Mo pulled out the Flying Knife and cast the Healing Technique on himself.
Resilience Skill Level +2
Healing Technique Skill Level +1
Shefilya gave him a slightly surprised glance. ’When did this guy learn the Healing Technique?’
’But... does this also mean I can hold back a little less?’
Seeing the look in her eyes, Lin Mo suddenly had a very bad feeling.
He quickly cast the Earth Shield Skill, holding the resulting Earth Shield in front of him.
Sure enough, the next instant, a Flying Knife slammed into the Earth Shield, pierced clean through it, and stabbed into the palm of Lin Mo’s hand.
HISS—!
Lin Mo glared at her. "Didn’t I just say I wasn’t ready?"
Shefilya remained expressionless. "Looks to me like you were."
"..."
Lin Mo was speechless for a moment. If he hadn’t reacted so quickly, he would have been stabbed again. Even so, his hand was still injured.
He cast the Healing Technique again, and several notifications appeared before his eyes.
Resilience Skill Level +2
Earth Shield Skill Level +1
Healing Technique Skill Level +1
’Training three skills at once? Sweet!’
Lin Mo looked at Shefilya and said excitedly, "Again!"
Then he quickly added, "Go a little easier this time."
Shefilya’s throwing hand paused for a fraction of a second before she threw again.
She did go easier this time. The Flying Knife pierced the new Earth Shield Lin Mo had created, but its tip only grazed his palm.
