Chapter 291 - 176: Ring of Space
The manor had ready-made Basic Magic Soil infused with Magic Power. Coupled with the seeds Lin Mo had previously helped her purchase, it was more than enough for a novice like Lena to practice with.
Ali accompanied her good friend, squatting on the ground with her chin in her hands, looking distracted.
"Are you worried about Mr. Lin Mo again?"
Lena planted a seed and, after tending to it carefully, turned to see the gloomy look on Ali’s face. She comforted her, "It’s okay. Mr. Lin Mo is so capable, nothing will happen to him. Besides, didn’t the Lord City Lord say that Miss Shefilya is with him now? Maybe in a couple of days... no, maybe he’ll be back today."
Although she spoke such comforting words, Lena’s own expression and tone clearly showed that she wasn’t truly relieved either.
’Of course she was worried. If something happened to Mr. Lin Mo, there might not be anyone left in the world who would truly accept her, who wouldn’t dislike her, and might even like her.’
’Even if Lena didn’t hold out much hope for a closer relationship with Lin Mo, a part of her still clung to the idea.’
’What if?’
"Mmm..."
In response to her friend’s comfort, Ali nodded, but it was clear the words weren’t really sinking in.
’How could she not be worried?’
’Lin Mo had been gone for three whole days!’
’Since they’d met, she had almost never gone three whole days without seeing him.’
It had gotten so bad that starting from the second day, she was even distracted while practicing her Skills. Nevertheless, Ali still forced herself to keep studying and training.
’Lin Mo was improving so fast. She had to seize every opportunity to get better so she wouldn’t be left too far behind.’
’Ali wanted to be a help to him, a true teammate, not a burden.’
So, she rallied her spirits again and was about to get up to continue practicing her Skills.
"What are you thinking about?"
Just then, however, a voice suddenly spoke up from behind her.
Ali froze for a moment, then her expression turned to one of pleasant surprise. She spun around and threw her arms around Lin Mo.
The girl’s arms were wrapped tightly around his waist, her fluffy head resting against his chest. Although she said nothing, Lin Mo could feel her emotions. He wrapped his own arm around her slender waist and said softly, "Sorry for making you worry."
Ali shook her head. "As long as you’re okay."
Nearby, Lena watched them with a face full of envy. As she thought, Ali and Mr. Lin Mo’s relationship was much more intimate than hers.
’She wanted to be held by Mr. Lin Mo, too. That would surely feel so happy, so satisfying.’
Lena took two steps forward, but when she saw Lin Mo look at her, she suddenly grew timid and said in a small voice, "Welcome back, Mr. Lin Mo."
Lin Mo smiled without saying much, simply extending his other, still-free arm.
Lena stared blankly for a long moment, then bit her lip. In the end, she couldn’t resist the temptation and cautiously stepped forward.
Lin Mo pulled the Little Cat Girl’s slender body into an embrace.
A warm feeling washed over her. The sun-kissed scent on Lin Mo’s clothes made Lena’s face instantly flush, and a shy whimper escaped from her throat.
That adorable little whimper made Lin Mo unable to resist reaching out and grabbing her tail.
"Nghh!"
Lena’s body instantly tensed, and she began to tremble lightly. Her face was so red it looked like it might burst, but it was clear she had no intention of refusing. Instead, her whole body went rigid and fell against Lin Mo’s chest.
Lin Mo gently stroked the Little Cat Girl’s tail up and down. The soft, fluffy texture was irresistible.
’Compared to Ali’s, Lena’s tail had a distinctly different feel. It was more slender, and a better size to grip.’
’It would probably be more convenient to use, too.’
’Ali’s tail, on the other hand, was more visually striking and impactful when gripped firmly.’
’All in all, they each had their pros and cons...’
Lin Mo let go of the Little Cat Girl’s tail. Lena went limp in his arms, and it was a good while before she could stand up straight, keeping her head lowered, too shy to look at him.
Compared to Ali, who was also a Half-Beastman, she was much more bashful.
To make an analogy, one was a woman of action like Shefilya, while the other was gentle and rather shy, like Feney.
Of course, this was just an analogy; their actual personalities were quite different.
For one thing, Ali and Shefilya were polar opposites—one hot, one cold.
In any case, Lin Mo found it completely impossible to imagine someone like Shefilya being as fiery and passionate as Ali.
