Secret Land. Battlefield

Boom!

The black foreign flying creature was coming towards me. The Red Mark Warriors standing nearby were hit by the force and thrown off the ground.

Right then, my senses screamed at me. I saw the creature at close quarters. It looked hideous, with an oval face and a row of shark-like black teeth.

It had small eyes that were hard to spot. No wonder it could tear through others with a mouth like that.

"Lightning Condensed Finger."

I was already prepared for the attack. When the flying creature was a few steps away from me, I raised my right hand and unleashed the strike.

A purple lightning beam shot from my index finger. It pulsed forward in a straight line with an air-tearing sound.

Boom!

The flying creature was alarmed. It felt the threat as well, but before it could use its speed to dodge,

Punchak!

The beam punctured a hole through the oval head and exited from the back.

Boom!

The next second, the purple lightning exploded. The creature’s oval head was completely obliterated by the blast.

The overwhelming shockwave shook the area. I was pushed backward, while the other nearby Red Mark Warriors fell to the ground.

The headless creature crashed heavily onto the earth.

Once again, dust and smoke covered the area. Seizing the opportunity, I slipped away from the spot and moved to another location.

Before the Red Mark Warriors could realize what happened, the flying foreign creatures in the sky let out a bizarre cry. They were enraged, two of their kin had been killed right before their eyes.

Boom!

They screeched before charging at the Red Mark Warriors, leaving them no time to think.

The warriors immediately resumed their fierce fight against the flying foreign creatures.

However, they now knew that one of their fellow human warriors possessed the strength to take them down in a single shot.

Yet, they didn’t realize it was a Purple Mark Warrior. In the dense battlefield, especially at night, it was hard for the warriors to keep track of others.

The black flying foreign creatures were easily knocking down groups of warriors; the power behind their speed was extraordinary.

"How do I clear this battlefield?" I asked the ancient spirit’s voice.

"There is no way to end the battle early. You must fight until you are ejected from the Secret Land," the ancient spirit replied.

Hearing that, I raised my eyebrows. I recalled the words of the senior disciples who had entered the battlefield earlier—they had said the exact same thing.

Screech!

Then I heard that familiar bird-like cry again. Snapping out of my thoughts, I looked ahead.

I saw two black flying foreign creatures lock their gaze on me. They weren’t attacking the other Red Mark Warriors; they were aiming straight for me.

"You must focus on the battle," the ancient spirit’s voice sounded.

Hearing that, I prepared the same technique again, but this time I reduced the density of the purple lightning film.

After the previous two attacks, I realized the full power was overkill for these creatures. Since this was going to be a prolonged battle, I didn’t want to waste energy.

Swoosh!

The two black foreign creatures dove down to target me. Seeing this, nearby Red Mark Warriors seized the opportunity to attack. Some elemental strikes landed on the beasts, but they remained completely unscathed.

My perception locked onto them, tracking every single movement.

At the same time, the surrounding Red Mark Warriors noticed the anomaly. They saw that for the second time, the foreign creatures were completely ignoring them to target a single person.

It didn’t take long for them to spot the young warrior amidst the chaos. He was standing calmly, looking directly at the incoming beasts.

When they tried to gauge his strength, they were shocked to the core: his cultivation was only at the Purple Mark rank.

He wasn’t even a Red Mark Warrior. They had no idea where this young man had come from, nor did they recognize him.

They assumed the Red Mark flying creatures viewed the Purple Mark Warrior as easy prey, and feared they were about to watch him die.

Then, something incredible happened before their eyes.

They saw the young man raise his hand. Two purple beams shot from his index finger, piercing through the air in a straight line and striking the two foreign creatures one after the other.

Boom!

Under their stunned gazes, the flying foreign creatures were electrocuted by the purple lightning, charred completely.

Before the creatures could even touch the young man, their corpses crashed at his feet.

Gasp!

A collective gasp sounded. The Red Mark Warriors, who had thought the young man was doomed, drew in a sharp breath of cold air.

They couldn’t believe a young man with Purple Mark strength had slaughtered Red Mark creatures so effortlessly.

"Hey... isn’t he the one who killed the previous two creatures?" one of them asked.

"Now he’s brought down two more! Who is he?" another added.

Just then, a female warrior recalled something and said, "There was breaking news this morning about a Purple Mark Warrior named Zack Lockwood clearing the puppet hall’s easy mode on his first try."

"I think it’s him," she added.

"No wonder he can take down Red Mark creatures so easily," the male warrior said.

They quickly refocused on their own fights, but they firmly memorized Zack Lockwood’s face and fighting style. Everyone now knew that the young man was a formidable lightning warrior.

As time passed, more and more flying creatures were slain. Eventually, I stopped counting. I simply killed everything that flew toward me.

In the midst of the slaughter, I realized I had drifted away from the main combat zone onto the open, flat ground alone.

Now fully exposed, my Purple Mark aura acted like a beacon to the flying creatures, drawing more and more of them toward my direction.

I have to conserve energy as well. I don’t know how long the battle will continue.
