Chapter 161: Island Royale 30
Fortunately, Perry Yates was no pushover. After nearly being flattened by the python’s tail several times, she seized an opportunity and bound its body with her vines.
Not only that, but Perry Yates even deliberately exposed the python’s vital spot, allowing Amber Sheridan and Evan Fuller to attack.
Soon, with Perry Yates’s help, the massive turquoise python was defeated.
After storing the giant python’s corpse, Amber Sheridan immediately set off to find their next prey.
...
In the end, their teamwork paid off, and they took down a total of three giant pythons.
That evening, the trio rested at one of their safe spots.
Perry Yates used a cleansing spray to eliminate Amber Sheridan’s scent, then deployed Cold Moon Guardian to surround the area and ensure their safety.
So, they could finally rest easy?
Of course not. They still had other things to do.
Perry Yates could go without sleep, but Amber Sheridan and Evan Fuller could not. While they were capable of pulling an all-nighter, the lack of sleep would impact their performance the following day.
To avoid this, Perry Yates took out two pieces of candy.
Looking at the bright orange, orange-scented candy balls, Amber Sheridan said, "This candy looks a bit familiar... It’s from the Candy Box."
However, besides tasting a little better, very few of the candies from the Candy Box had any special effects. The ones in front of her were much larger and more translucent. Recalling all the other gadgets Perry Yates had produced, a suspicion began to form in Amber Sheridan’s mind.
"These candies aren’t..."
Perry Yates nodded. "If you eat this, you won’t need to sleep. But there’s a side effect. Once you do finally sleep, you’ll be out for a long time. The exact duration is based on how long you stay awake, but it won’t be more than thirty-six hours."
Upon hearing this, Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan ate the candy without hesitation.
After all, in a situation like this, staying constantly alert was far too important. A mere thirty-six hours of deep sleep was nothing.
The moment Amber put the candy in her mouth, a rich, fruity fragrance filled her senses, followed by a cooling sensation that rushed to her head.
Afterward, the trio processed the three pythons they had hunted that day.
Perry Yates took one of the pythons and all three skins, leaving the other two for Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan.
"I could understand if you were taking the snake galls, but what are you doing with all these entrails?"
Amber Sheridan couldn’t help but ask, watching as Perry Yates collected all the snake entrails that had been tossed aside.
Perry Yates blinked. "Nothing in particular," she said. "I just think it’s a shame to throw them away. Besides, leaving them here could give away our position. I figured I’d store them, just in case they come in handy later."
’Not that I know what I’ll use them for, but it can’t hurt to store them for now.’
’Everything has its purpose, after all.’
Hearing Perry’s reasoning, Amber Sheridan gave a resigned nod. "Alright then. Whatever makes you happy."
Now that they didn’t have to waste time sleeping, they had a significant amount of extra time on their hands. With this time, they could get a lot more done.
As it happened, Perry Yates was thinking the exact same thing.
Twelve days had passed, bringing them to the twentieth day of the game.
That meant they still had to survive here for another ten days.
Ten days. It could feel like an eternity or fly by in an instant. It all depended on how they used the time.
Clearly, neither Amber Sheridan nor Evan Fuller had any intention of wasting that time.
Soon after, following some scouting from Perry Yates, the trio locked onto their next target. This time it wasn’t a python, but a wild boar.
That’s right—a wild boar standing ten meters tall, even larger than an elephant.
There was no telling where the boar had come from, but by the time Perry Yates spotted it, it was already rampaging across the island.
Moreover, the boar had a clear target: it was charging straight toward the lake.
By the time Perry Yates’s group arrived through an Any Door, the boar was only a few hundred meters from the lake.
At that distance, one good sprint and the boar would reach it in seconds.
Seeing this, Perry Yates summoned two poker cards into her hands: the Ace of Diamonds and the King of Diamonds.
However, her target this time wasn’t the boar itself, but the ground in its path.
As the two cards fused with the ground, the solid earth instantly turned soft. Within a matter of seconds, it had become a bottomless swamp.
It was a perfect example of using softness to overcome hardness. No matter how powerful the boar was or how furiously it charged, once its four hooves sank into the swamp, escape was impossible. The more it struggled, the deeper it sank.
Amber Sheridan gave Perry Yates an impressed thumbs-up. She had managed to immobilize the mountain-sized boar with just two cards.
"I caught this boar, so it’s mine," Perry Yates declared bluntly.
Neither Amber Sheridan nor Evan Fuller had any objection.
By now, the boar’s frantic struggles had caused half its body to sink into the swamp, but it would still take a while for it to be completely submerged.
Perry couldn’t be bothered to wait. ’We’re too close to the lake. And with other Dealer Players around, all this noise might have attracted them.’
With that thought, another poker card appeared in Perry Yates’s hand: the Eight of Spades.
The poker card vanished from her hand, transforming into two dragons made of water that shot toward the boar’s nostrils and mouth.
With water pouring relentlessly into its nostrils and mouth and cutting off its air, the boar began to thrash wildly.
But it was no use. In the end, the massive boar was drowned.
Perry Yates watched as waste gushed out from the boar’s rear and nodded in satisfaction. She then stored the entire carcass in her Space Backpack.
Just as Perry Yates was savoring her victory, the bracelet on her wrist suddenly grew scorching hot.
"This is bad! We have to leave, now!"
As she spoke, an Any Door materialized behind her. She dove through it without a second thought.
Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan didn’t hesitate to follow.
Although neither of them knew exactly what was happening, they had also sensed that something was terribly wrong. For an instant, they’d felt as if they were being watched by something terrifying.
Even if Perry Yates hadn’t spoken, they would have fled the area immediately.
The trio passed through the Any Door, re-emerging several hundred meters up in the sky.
