Chapter 91. One Slap
There was a lounge on the ground floor.
Several people relaxing there were drawn to the commotion.
"It’s him!"
"Marvin from campus. He became an advanced rank 1 warrior in just a year. He’s a genius of our Airo City University!"
"Yeah. But I don’t like his attitude. He goes everywhere with his nose held up in the sky, as if the world revolves around"
"He’s not from a reputable background and he’s acting like this. I wonder how he would behave if he were from some rich conglomerate or guild"
"Anyway, who’s the dude he’s trying to bully? The fellow does not emit any worldly energy undulations. Even if he were to be able to control his aura, at least, a bit of it would leak out right?"
"Yeah, even rank 4 warriors cannot mask their aura completely. Tiny traces would leak out. Masking one’s aura completely can only be done with aura masking artifacts. Those things are only sold to rank 3 warriors and rank 4 warriors"
"But one’s aura is naturally masked when they put on an invisibility bracelet"
"Well that’s a different situation. Invisibility bracelets have aura masking effects because the key is to make one invisible. If the artifact engineers made it without adding an aura masking effect, who would buy it?"
"Yeah. And it’s not like he’s invisible now. So, he’s not using an invisibility bracelet"
"Indeed. I guess he’s probably a new warrior. Usually, newly awakened warriors have very weak auras that are literally undetectable because they haven’t actively started cultivating"
Because Aiden was not a traditional cultivator and didn’t use worldly energy to cultivate, he looked like a regular person. He didn’t emit even the tiniest trace of worldly energy.
To the people at the place, the only possibility was that he was a newly awakened warrior.
No one could completely control their aura completely without making anything leak out.
Only aura masking artifacts could completely mask one’s aura.
The guy in the hoodie was definitely not a rank 3 or rank 4 warrior with access to buy an aura masking artifact.
He was definitely a newly awakened warrior.
As for Aiden, he did not pay attention to what people were saying about him. Neither would he have cared if he knew.
He simply ignored the fellow who shouted at him and walked forward.
The lady at the counter was intrigued at the exchange.
"Did you not hear me?. I need to get my rank updated. So scram for me!" Marvin’s hand trailed forward as a streak of lightning blitzed towards Aiden.
Aiden remained silent as the streak of lightning trailed towards him.
His figure disappeared from where he stood.
The streak of lightning and Marvin’s hand hit the air.
Too fast. Marvin and everyone else observing what was happening was shocked.
Aiden’s hoodie cap came off because of the gust of wind that blew across the place.
Marvin saw something in his line vision.
It was a hand.
The hand landed on his cheek.
A slapping sound rang across the place.
Marvin felt vibrations and pain travel through his check to his skull, and through his head.
A cracking sound reverberated across the place. His skull had fractured.
The force of Aiden’s slap sent him somersaulting towards the lounge.
He crashed into a table. The table broke into smithereens.
The whole place was silent as everyone looked at Aiden and the unconscious figure of Marvin, sprawled on the ground with blood oozing out of his mouth.
Aiden simply proceeded towards the counter after that, ignoring everyone looking at him.
Marvin woke up a few seconds later after someone with the light affinity had mercy on him to heal him.
He was completely terrified.
Who the hell did he mess with?
"That’s Aiden Vhorn of Derulo City. The crimson reaper" Someone finally recognized Aiden, since his hoodie cap was off as he stood at the counter and communicated with the lady at the counter.
"The guy rumored to have crushed the businesses of several guilds and Conglomerates in his city with just a single manipulation tactic?"
"Indeed. He’s also closed three gates since he became a warrior. Two special gates and one terrifying rank 2 gate"
"He’s also a legendary rank 1 warrior now!"
"He became a warrior a few months ago. His speed of cultivation is unheard off. Compared to Marvin, Marvin is trash!"
"But what’s he doing in our city?"
"Maybe he has some personal business here"
Many went on to list Aiden’s achievements as they looked at him in fear and awe.
No wonder he had no traces of worldly energy on him. He had the backing of several powerful beginner rank 3 warriors now.
One of them may have given him an aura masking artifact they had bought. This explained why his aura was undetectable.
They discussed.
Several looked at Marvin with pity and mockery.
This bastard had it coming. Always lording it over others.
Marvin was currently shaking on the ground in fear.
Of course he knew who Aiden Vhorn was.
He was fortunate that because killing was not allowed on the premises of the Warriors Association building, Aiden Vhorn had not killed him.
He had experienced the strike of Aiden Vhorn first hand. He knew that if Aiden had wanted to kill him with just his physical strength, it would have been very easy.
"I need to apologize to him. Who knows what he will do to me once he leaves the Warriors Association building" Marvin stood up and walked humbly to the counter under the scornful gazes of everyone.
At the counter, the woman stared at Aiden with shock.
Only now did she realize who he was. Because his hoodie cap had been on earlier, she didn’t know who he was.
Even as a legendary rank 2 warrior, she didn’t look down on the Crimson Reaper. He was a genius known throughout Hessington State now for terrifying feats.
He also had the backing of the Bryans, The Vincents, the Creeds, The Moores, and the Marcuses.
These were influential captains of industry and guilds with branches spread throughout Hessington State. Each organization was headed by a beginner rank 3 warrior.
Not only that , he was connected to Pamela Ashira, the daughter of Ashbourne Cane, the principal of Derulo City University, a living legend and a legendary rank 3 warrior.
"I can’t offend this person. Although he injured someone in the association building, an act which would lead to a fine, I need to let it slide" She thought "He must be here to confirm his breakthrough to legendary rank 1"
"Mr Vhorn, what can I do for you?" The woman said politely.
"I’m here to have my rank updated please" Aiden said politely.
"As polite as the rumors say, but very deadly. What a terrifying young man" She thought .
"Alright sir, follow me" Aiden followed her into the assessment room.
As for Marvin, he waited at a sitting area in front of the lobby patiently and nervously, waiting for Aiden Vhorn to come out of the assessment room so that he apologizes to him.
He didn’t want to die.
