Chapter 119. Useful Information
Aiden returned to the Creed Estate. When he returned, the parents thanked him for what he did for them.
Aiden simply told them it was not necessary.
Currently, he was alone with Desmonda, Luke, Candice, Asmodeus, and Seraphina. The group of 6 were in a restaurant in the city, having a meal together.
"So, military huh. Don’t you dare die, okay?" Seraphina said.
"I won’t," Aiden replied.
"You better not. We want to enter the military sooner or later. We don’t want to come to your funeral when we arrive," Asmodeus said. It was as if he was joking, but there was worry in his voice.
"Don’t mind them, Aiden," Desmonda replied, jokingly snorting at the rest of the group. "They are enemies of progress. I don’t know why they want you to die so badly. If anyone has any chance of dying, it’s them."
"Hey, that’s mean as fuck. How could you say that?" Luke said, spittle flying all over the table.
"Aiden will eventually leave. We will see if you will still have that glib tongue." Candice playfully pulled out Desmonda’s hair.
"When he’s not around, Asmodeus is the strongest among us all now. He’s good at bullying you too," Seraphina said jokingly.
"Ouch, it hurts! Stop bullying me," Desmonda said. "Aiden, don’t just sit there, save me."
Aiden chuckled at the playful antics of the group.
"I’m really gonna miss you guys."
Everyone’s eyes softened.
Before they spoke, Aiden’s eyes narrowed. Blobs of blood appeared before them and transformed into a large, hard crimson dome that covered the restaurant.
An assassination. Someone wanted to kill him.
A large lightning sword whizzed through the skies and crashed into the crimson dome that materialized around the restaurant.
The restaurant shook but it held. The crimson dome didn’t budge.
Everyone in the restaurant panicked.
What the hell was happening?
Many realized that the Crimson Reaper was the one seated across from them.
Some started taking pictures of him and his friends. They were also famous geniuses, known throughout Hessington State now because of their cultivation speed and gate closure achievements.
Aiden looked at Desmonda and the others.
He simply nodded to them.
There was no need for words. They knew what he meant. It was an assassination attempt. Someone wanted to kill him.
"I’ll be right back," Aiden said.
After that, he formed crimson wings with his blood and shot out of the restaurant.
He had identified where the culprit was. Instead of launching an attack to kill the assassin,Aiden wanted to interrogate him first and find out who sent him.
Although he had already marked the industries that added death threats to the offers they sent him to intimidate him, Aiden figured there was a possibility that some of the industries who didn’t add death threats to their offers could also be planning assassinations against him.
Apart from that, he also wanted to know the assassin organizations that took the bounties from those that wanted him dead.
He had plans to finish what they wanted to start in the future. He won’t say no to free blood essence. This also applied to the groups that placed the bounties on him.
Aiden saw the person somewhere in the clouds.
A legendary rank 2 assassin. The fellow had a mask on. He was draped in a t-shirt, jeans, and some sneakers. He had lightning flashing across his figure.
The assassin had a remote in his hand.
Aiden tuned up his enhanced hearing.
The assassin was looking at his phone screen. He grunted.
"Shit, this person is very difficult to kill. How did he notice an attack was headed in his direction?" The assassin sighed. "I’ve never had a stain on my record. What the hell is going on? Has he noticed me? Why’s he flying towards this direction? I need to flee!"
The assassin equipped his battlesuit and turned around. Lightning blitzed around him and beneath his feet. He turned into a streak of azure light.
"He used a surveillance drone to pinpoint my location and attacked," Aiden thought.
Blobs of blood appeared before Aiden and transformed into two crimson arrows. The crimson arrows arced upwards and glided through the skies.
The crimson arrows appeared in the assassin’s line of vision in an instant.
Too fast, the assassin thought.
Lightning streaks materialized into the shape of snakes and shot the arrows.
The arrows sliced through his lightning snakes. The arrows sliced through his two eyes. Blood splurged from his eyes.
He cursed. He could not see anymore. Aiden Vhorn had blinded him.
He could no longer flee with his vision compromised.
Aiden appeared in front of him in an instant.
The crimson arrows which sliced through the eyes of the assassin turned into a large crimson hand. The large crimson hand, wrapping itself around him, started to squeeze him. He felt his bones were starting to crush. Blood started to splurge out of his mouth.
"Can you kindly tell me who sent you? So that we can end this quickly?" Aiden spoke politely. But his voice caused chills to crawl up the spine of the assassin.
What kind of lunatic did the organization send him to kill?
He knew Aiden Vhorn, the Crimson Reaper, wouldn’t spare him even if he told Aiden Vhorn who sent him. This guy was a madman known for being clinically ruthless and very decisive, after all.
"If he’s gonna kill me, might as well tell him so that he makes it less painful. Also, if I’m going down, might as well bring down my assassin organization, and the Fourshield Guild with me," the assassin decided.
"Sir... You have the highest bounty on you in the empire right now. It’s a bounty of 6 trillion dollars. I’m from the RustFang Assassin Organization," the assassin said. "We were one of many assassin organizations that took on the job to kill you. Several conglomerates and guilds from across the empire have placed bounties on you because you rejected their offers to join them. However, the offer the RustFang Assassin Organization received was from the Fourshield Guild in Donoro State."
Aiden nodded. This was useful information.
He kept the name of the RustFang Assassin Organisation in mind. As for the Fourshield Guild in Donoro State, they didn’t even threaten him in the message they sent him. It was very good that he had decided that he would be interrogating all the assassins sent after him before he killed them; else, he would have missed them.
Aiden turned around to leave. The crimson hand continued to squeeze the assassin. Sounds of his bones cracking rung in the clouds.
In a few moments, he coughed a mouthful of blood. His dying screams ceased. He was dead. His corpse fell from the sky.
The crimson hand turned into blobs of blood and returned into Aiden.
Aiden absorbed the blood essence of the corpse as he glided down towards the restaurant.
The crimson dome surrounding the restaurant turned into blobs of blood and returned into him.
"It looks like vacation time is over. I need to complete the graduation process and start my military service as soon as possible. The battlefield is where I will thrive," Aiden thought.
Corpses were numerous on the battlefield, after all. The more the corpses, the more blood essence he could absorb. The more blood essence he could absorb, the stronger he would become.
Also, he would go through countless battles on the battlefield to hone himself.
Aiden had also come to learn from the parents of his friends that thinning down chaotic beasts at the frontlines was not the only thing one did during their military service. There were missions where one would be sent to different places in the empire for different tasks. In fact, there were even missions that required one to leave the empire to another empire in the southern continent or the other continents.
Aiden figured this would be a good opportunity for him to broaden his horizons, gain more combat experience, slay powerful opponents, and absorb their blood essence to grow stronger.
"My power should be at the level of a legendary rank 3 warrior by the time I finish my two-year military service. The amount of accumulated blood essence needed for breakthroughs as I grow stronger will only increase. All the more reason why I need to push myself to my limits to ensure that by two years, I should be a legendary rank 3 warrior," Aiden thought.
As for staying in the military after his two-year military service, Aiden had changed his mind about that.
"Legendary rank 3 warriors who decide to stay in the military are given the position of generals, but they are tied to the military by duties and strict responsibilities. That will be a waste of my time. Also, it will restrict me. As for rank 4 warriors, there are only 5,000 of them on Endra. They are members of the International Union, the highest decision-making body of the world. Why would they bother themselves with the matters of the military?" Aiden thought.
In an interview Aiden watched in the past, Grand Marshal Armstrong Lee had stated that he was only the Grand Marshal of the Eldorath Empire Military in name. It was an honorary title from the empire he didn’t see any reason to reject.
He rarely spent time on the frontlines because he had more important things to deal with.
Rank 4 warriors dealt with bigger threats on Endra, such as sentient rank 4 chaotic beasts and dangerous rank 4 gates. Also, they were busy with trying to track down the Paranormal Liberation Order and put an end to them.
"Becoming a rank 4 warrior should be my next step after leaving the empire military after my two years military service," Aiden thought.
He landed in front of the restaurant. His crimson wings turned into blobs of blood and returned into him.
He walked up to Desmonda and the others.
"Are you okay?" Desmonda held his hand and asked with concern.
"I’m fine, Des. I got the name of the people who sent the assassin and some pretty useful information. I will finish what they started in the future," Aiden said.
His friends felt chills crawl up their spines when he spoke.
Whoever was stupid enough to offend Aiden had already sealed their own fate.
"I should head to campus and complete my graduation procedures," Aiden said.
"Oh, we will escort you," his friends said.
"Alright," Aiden nodded.
"We will need a ride." Everyone turned to Luke.
"My car is parked on campus," Luke said.
"I got this," Aiden replied.
Several blobs of blood appeared before him and turned into the shape of a large, crimson-looking sea dragon. It was very large, almost the size of the restaurant. It drew the attention of several people; some even started taking pictures.
The large, crimson-looking sea dragon floated before the group.
Aiden sat on it and gestured for the others to sit on it.
The group hopped on.
The crimson dragon shot through the skies, headed towards Derulo City University.
