Chapter 59. Who’s the assassin?
Aiden held his scythe, eyes crimson, crimson armor covering his body.
A horde of advanced rank 1 creatures shot towards his direction.
Birds of different kinds. Reptilian looking flying creatures.
Aiden flapped his wings. He disappeared from where he previously floated.
He appeared in their midst.
The crimson scythe descended.
One creature spat a ball of flames towards him.
The ball of flames touched his armor. But nothing happened.
Aiden ignored defenses. It was not necessary to defend himself. He had already gauged his physical strength. Coupled with the reinforcement of his crimson armor, none of these creatures could harm him.
The scythe cleaved through the creature. It screamed. Its two halves fell apart.
Another which looked like a wyvern swung its tail.
Arcs of blue lightning trial ahead of the tail towards Aiden.
The arcs of blue lightning were destroyed by Aiden’s crimson scythe.
Then Aiden held its tail with one hand.
The creature screamed.
He swung the creature towards a skyscraper.
The creature crashed into the skyscraper. The skyscraper crumbled into dust.
Aiden threw the scythe towards the wyvern.
The scythe slashed through the air and arrived before the wyvern in an instant.
Under his will, the scythe pierced through the chest of the wyvern, then stopped its heart.
It was dead.
The scythe returned to him in the air.
He danced. The horde of creatures fell like flies.
Attacks of all kinds, ranging from flame attacks, water attacks, lightning attacks, earth spikes, gravity attacks, and more, fell on Aiden.
But Aiden was like a tank. He breezed through them with effortless prowess, scythe in hand.
Each time the scythe met a creature, silence and death followed.
It tore through defenses. Innards spilt. Heads rolled. Appendages tore apart.
The audience felt like they were watching a dance of death. The crimson reaper indeed. What sort of monster was this fellow? He was also covered in the blood of the creatures. He looked so terrifying.
Aiden Vhorn was like a god of carnage.
The sky was littered with blood and falling corpses.
Was this guy human at all?
Those watching were shocked.
The lounge outside the VR rooms had turned silent.
He was like a war machine.
Did this guy really have any weaknesses in battle?
Also, how could he maintain aerial maneuvering for so long?
Did he not run out of energy?
It was as if he had endless stamina.
He also had monstrous physical prowess that made it difficult to breach his defenses.
He was also versatile in the use of multiple weapons, from his previous battles they had observed so far.
Not only that, his combat prowess was off the charts. It was as if he could anticipate attacks from all directions.
They were not wrong. Coupled with his improving battle instincts, Aiden’s enhanced sight that allowed him to scan across helped him to know where and when every attack of his enemy would be coming from. Unless the opponent was at a higher rank and Aiden would be unable to react quickly because of the difference in speed in close quarter combat, Aiden could not have any blind spots in battle.
Eventually, he ceased moving.
The creatures were all dead.
"Pity this is virtual reality and I can’t absorb their blood essence," Aiden thought.
An ear splitting scream spread across the place.
A large creature whizzed across the air.
It was a very large wolf.
It was so large that it blotted the skies.
Yet it was very fast.
Trails of darkness trailed behind it as it moved.
"The boss is here huh," Aiden thought.
The crimson scythe transformed into a pair of crimson daggers.
"He’s switching weapons again," someone said.
"The boss is an assassin type creature. I’m sure he wants to handle it like an assassin too. After all, daggers are weapons known for those specializing in close combat speed and assasination attacks. I’ve never seen him use daggers before."
"Same. Let’s see how this will unfold."
The hundreds of senior year students in the lounge watched the battle on the screens.
Aiden disappeared from where he floated after flapping his crimson wings.
Aiden Vhorn’s movements shifted completely.
It was different from earlier. With the scythe, he was moving like a decisive, mechanical combatant.
But now, he was elusive and unpredictable.
Also it was if the crimson daggers were extensions of him.
Black and crimson silhouette flew towards each other.
The wolf swiped one of its limbs forward. Large blankets of darkness rolled forward.
"So fast," the audience thought.
But Aiden evaded the attack with uncanny precision.
He spun and dived beneath the creature.
The daggers sliced through its abdomen, causing blood to pool out.
Aiden was not idle.
The creature wailed.
Aiden used that moment to his advantage.
He appeared across the neck of the creature.
Then he sliced across it. Blood splurged.
He disappeared. He appeared across its limbs. Then he slashed.
His speed was intensifying as he attacked. The creature was growing weak.
It launched attacks of darkness towards Aiden. But when the attacks arrived, Aiden was slicing somewhere else across its body.
The audience felt like Aiden had eyes everywhere. He was evading the attacks of the creature so effortlessly, launching attacks somewhere else across its body.
He had turned into a flurry of crimson afterimages.
Slicing sounds rung across.
The advanced rank 1 shadow moon wolf, known for assassin based attacks, was being butchered helplessly, unable to retaliate. It was completely helpless.
"Who is the assassin between the two of them?" someone in the lounge outside the VR rooms helplessly sighed.
Everyone was having similar thoughts.
Eventually, the creature wailed one last time.
Its eyes grew dim. The trials of darkness around it disappeared. Its attacks ceased. Aiden floated a couple of moments away from it, crimson daggers in hand.
Everyone watching had a close look at the creature. For a moment nothing seemed different. Then, its body slid apart into pieces of well dismembered chunks of flesh as its blood rained across the skies.
The chunks of flesh descended towards the ground.
