Chapter 74. Ignorant Buffoons
"Hello," Rexilia Ravenspar said.
Aiden and company looked at her.
What was the student council president doing here?
They thought.
Was she here to recruit Aiden into her society again?
"Hi."
"Hello."
"Morning."
The group replied to her.
She turned to Aiden.
"Mr. Vhorn, would you like to have a date with me?" The moment she spoke, everyone in the vicinity, including Aiden’s friends, were shocked.
Did she just ask Aiden out? Everyone thought.
Rexilia Ravenspar, known to be extremely obsessed with her cultivation. Also, she was rumored to be engaged to Henrich Fang, the scion of the Fang Guild of Tanmun City. The guy was currently a student of Cosmere City University. He was currently their student council president too. Not only that, he was an advanced rank 2 warrior as well. Because of his and Rexilia’s background, no guy approached Rexilia with romantic intentions. They didn’t want the Ravenspars and the Fangs to get the wrong idea and have a problem with them.
Everyone knew that most of the time, arranged engagements between two scions of influential backgrounds were usually political and had more to do with securing opportunities for the backgrounds of the couple than the couples themselves. If any outsider tried to express ill will in any kind to such an arrangement, the involved parties may not be pleased with their actions.
This was why Rexilia had no suitors on campus, despite the fact that she was one of the most beautiful ladies on campus.
To think she would take the initiative to ask someone out?
This showed how much of an interest she had in Aiden Vhorn.
But... was she not trying to get Aiden Vhorn into trouble? If her fiance ever found out about this, he would definitely think Aiden Vhorn is trying to steal his woman, even if Rexilia approached Aiden first. Men could do crazy things when it came to their women.
"I will have to politely decline," Aiden replied with a warm smile.
Rexilia was quite disappointed.
"Do you have someone you like?" She asked with a crestfallen expression.
Aiden smiled politely. However, he didn’t answer her question.
Everyone got what he was saying.
*It’s none of your business. So excuse yourself while I’m being civil.*
Rexilia sighed. She got the gist.
"Alright. At least I tried." She turned around and returned to her usual spot with her two friends.
"At least you asked him out."
"Yeah. Now you can forget about him."
Joseph and Tatara said.
"Mmm. A pity though. He’s totally my type. Well, that’s off my bucket list," She said.
Meanwhile, several were quite surprised Aiden had rejected her. At least he could have taken her on a date and had a one night stand with her, right? It was not every day that someone like Rexilia asked someone out.
But on second thought... They understood Aiden Vhorn. He had enough enemies already in Derulo City. He didn’t see any reason why he should add the Ravenspars and the Fangs of Tanmun City to the list.
He had made the right call.
But still... Things may not be too smooth between him and Henrich Fang when they arrive in Harland City.
"Seriously, why do these troublesome ladies keep approaching me? First it was the Dahlia lady and now this?" Aiden thought.
"Good thing she was mature enough to back off. But her boyfriend may not be too patient. I’ve heard about him. Even if he finds out the lady was the one who asked me out, he will still see me as a threat to get rid of."
"Their engagement is a political one. He won’t want to entertain any unaccounted variables. As stupid as it is, that’s the most likely course of action someone in his position may take. Or he could just decide to avoid me and have a couples talk with Blondie over there. Who knows. For now, I will just avoid him in case he’s part of Derulo City University’s team. I will react accordingly depending on his approach."
"You okay Aiden?" Desmonda tapped his shoulder.
"Yeah, I’m alright," Aiden replied.
"Don’t worry about Henrich Fang. As long as the instructors are with us in the pocket world, he can’t try anything against you openly, even if he decides to do that. Derulo City University invited us to help them. It will reflect bad on their reputation if a student of theirs attacks one of ours," Asmodeus said.
"That’s true, but you will have to be careful. Guy’s a colossal douche," Luke said. "He will definitely harbor bad intentions once he learns about what just ensued between you and Rexilia. A friend of mine is in the guy’s class in Derulo City University. Said the guy is obsessed with Rexilia."
Aiden nodded.
"It seems I will have to forgo the possibility that he will let things slide and try to handle things with his girlfriend," Aiden thought. "Asmodeus has a point though. He can’t harm me openly in the pocket world because it will reflect badly on the image of Derulo City University. But he can try assassination methods. I need to be very careful in the pocket world."
"We will stick to you, Aiden," Desmonda said.
The rest nodded.
They were all intentional people.
So, it was necessary they put in the work and invested in their relationships.
"Thanks, guys," Aiden nodded.
"Since it’s been established that he would want to get rid of me, I will have to deal with him before he makes a move"Aiden thought.
"The thing is, these Ravenspars and Fangs will also try to covertly get rid of me, whether or not I deal with Henrich, if they find out about what happened between Rexilia and I. To them, if anything happens to stop the engagement, their opportunities will be on the line" He mused inwardly further.
"They won’t try to eliminate me because I talked to her. They will try to eliminate me because to them, I could stand in the way of what they could benefit from as a result of the union of their scions. I need to turn them against one another.
I need to make them so pissed at each other that they will be hell bent on destroying each other. If they are hell bent on destroying each other, then the thought of me will be irrelevant to them.
That’s possible if what I have in mind will work,"
"Is there anything we can help with?" Luke said.
The group knew that look on Aiden’s face. This guy was cooking up a scheme. Who could he be scheming towards, but Henrich Fang?
"Well, I will need some resources to pull this off. Any of these guys could help me out since my contribution points are finished," Aiden thought.
"Alright. I need a particular poison from the campus stores. It’s not very expensive, but I’m out of contribution points," Aiden said.
"Send me the name," Desmonda said before everyone could contribute.
Knowing looks flashed through the eyes of Asmodeus, Luke, Candice, and Seraphina.
Desmonda was starting to develop feelings for Aiden. But considering her personality, it would take a while before she would realize it.
As for Aiden, they assumed he probably hadn’t realized it yet. It was even possible that he had not yet considered the possibility of starting a relationship with Desmonda, so he had not realized what the rest of them had realized.
But, the duo had a lot in common. If things continued moving at this pace, it was only a matter of time before they became a couple.
No one said anything though.
"Alright," Aiden nodded.
He sent the name of the poison to her.
She ordered it and left the place.
A few moments later, she returned.
"I got it. I didn’t want anyone to see it. I don’t know what you plan to use it for. But I don’t want anyone to trace anything to you," She said.
"Wow, she’s something else," Aiden thought.
"Thank you." He nodded warmly.
"You’re welcome." Desmonda smiled. "I’ll let you have it when we are in the private jet."
"Alright," Aiden nodded.
"Ahem... is the air a bit rosy or what?" Seraphina said.
Aiden and Desmonda turned to look at her.
What is she trying to insinuate?
They looked at Asmodeus, Candice, and Marcus.
The trio were whistling, their expressions innocent.
Aiden and Desmonda shrugged.
Clueless buffoons.
Their friends thought.
"The instructors are here," Someone said.
