Chapter 113. Reunion
Southern Continent.
Hessington State.
Derulo City.
Creed Estate.
A group of people were gathered together in a backyard, roasting some barbecue.
This group included Seraphina Moore, Asmodeus Vincent, Desmonda Creed, Candice Marcus and Luke Bryan.
The others were,
Marylin Marcus, the mother of Candice Marcus. She possesses the Fire Affinity and is a founder of the Marcus Fashion Conglomerate.
Chromium Marcus, the father of Candice Marcus. He possesses the Water Affinity and is a founder of the Marcus Fashion Conglomerate. He was also from the Marcus Military Family. A family in Hessington State with a lot of military achievements.
Genjis Bryan, father of Luke Bryan. He possesses the Light Affinity and is a founder of the Bryan Group of Restaurants.
Paula Bryan is the mother of Luke Bryan. She possesses the Wood Affinity and is a founder of the Bryan Group of Restaurants.
Moore Sanderson is the father of Seraphina Moore. He possesses the Earth Affinity and is the Vice Mayor of Harland City.
Brandy Moore is the mother of Seraphina Moore. She possesses the Metal Affinity.
Angela Creed is the mother of Desmonda Creed. She possesses the Wind Affinity.
Wilson Creed is the father of Desmonda Creed. He possesses the Lightning Affinity. He is the Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Derulo City and the owner of a Guild.
Eleanor Vincent is the mother of Asmodeus Vincent. She possesses the Ice Affinity and is a founder of the Vincent Group of Companies.
Ronan Vincent is the father of Asmodeus Vincent. He possesses the Water Affinity and is a founder of the Vincent Group of Companies.
During the past 11 months, the Creeds had become more close to the Vincents, the Moores, the Bryans and the Marcuses. This was because their daughter, who was not used to having friends, had now become very close friends with their children.
Occasionally, the families met and had dinners together. This was a practice that occurred before Creeds became part of the circle. And the Creeds had welcomed it. This time, the meet up was happening in the Creed Estate. This was why they were all here.
"The competition is starting next month. How prepared are you kids?" The chocolate skinned Eleanor, the one Asmodues got his chocolate skinned looks from, asked Asmodeus and the others, who currently had meat stuffed in their mouths.
"I’m sure they are ready dear," Ronan replied. "After all, they’ve put a lot of pressure on themselves these 11 months."
The other parents nodded. These kids had been putting themselves under a lot of pressure for the past 11 months. University missions upon missions. All the missions they took too were high difficulty missions. They had even entered pocket worlds together to close some gates. Apart from that, each of them spent time honing their skills and cultivating to their highest abilities.
And the results were undeniable. Their kids had broken into the advanced rank 2 warrior level in that short period of time, a result that shook the Hessington State.
Asmodeus stuffed down the meat and replied,
"Mum, there’s no need to worry about us. Dad is right."
Eleanor smiled and nodded. "I’m your mother. I will always be worried about you." She turned to the other mothers. "Isn’t that right?"
Angela, Brandy, Paula and Marilyn nodded.
They would always be worried about their children.
As for the men, they just wanted their kids to be strong enough so that they would be safe. The world was a dangerous place.
"Alright... let’s not worry too much. These kids deserve a break for all the stress they’ve put themselves through. For breaking into the advanced rank 2 level, and for being in the top 20 of the Heavenly Ascension ranking list, we need to celebrate them," Wilson said.
Everyone nodded. The group smiled and cheered at the achievement of the kids then talked about mundane things for a while. The atmosphere was cheerful.
However everyone noticed Desmonda staring at her phone. She had been doing that for a while now. Ever since Aiden left the city 11 months ago.
According to the kids, the last time they heard from him was when he arrived in Airo City. He sent them a text message that he was almost at his destination. That was the last time they heard from him.
As for Desmonda, it was obvious that she had feelings for Aiden. In fact, when everyone teased her with Aiden, she openly admitted that she was in love with him. This was how Desmonda was. She could be quite dense at times, but when she came to terms with something, like how she felt about someone, she would not shy away from admitting it. There was a saying that the quiet ones were always the straightforward ones. This was how Desmonda was.
"That kid is making my daughter worry all the time." Wilson clicked his tongue. Even if Aiden Vhorn was the most eligible bachelor of Hessington State, how dare he..
"Now now.. honey," Angela chuckled. "Don’t let your protective nature for your daughter make you want to kill Aiden when he returns okay..."
Everyone chuckled.
Of course they knew Wilson was just being dramatic. This was how he was at times.
"Anyway, Luke, I heard you broke up with your girlfriend? How about you and Candice hit it off. It’s been three months since you broke up with her, right?" Chromium winked at Candice and Luke.
"Dad!" Candice shouted. Her face was all red. Clearly, she was interested in Luke. She had moved on when he was in a relationship. But now that Luke was single, she had decided to shoot her shot. The only reason why she held back was because she didn’t want to be a rebound. She wanted him to heal from his past relationship first before she asked him out again.
But to think her sly old man would try to hasten the process.
Everyone stared at Candice and Luke with sly smiles.
Luke and Candice realised that this was not just the doing of Chromium, everyone was in on it.
"You guys..." Luke and Candice muttered at the same time and shook their heads.
A glint of resolve flashed through Luke’s eyes. After he healed from the breakup, he had been thinking about Candice a lot. Also, they both started spending more time together. Luke eventually redeveloped feelings for her.
"Candice, how about we go on a date?" Luke said.
The men nodded in approval. A man should be straightforward.
The women looked at Candice.
"Are you asking me out?" Candice said. She was very happy.
"Yes," Luke said gently.
"Alright. We will discuss the location later. Also, before we go on the date, I’m your woman from now on. I don’t want to waste time getting to know you. I have known you since childhood so there is no reason for a date. How about we spend time together and watch some movies together?" Candice was very blunt. She was not usually like this. But everyone, especially her friends, understood how she felt about Luke. She was not gonna take things slow and allow some lady to come and snatch him away.
"Oh ..." The parents whistled.
"Kids these days don’t like old fashioned at all," Genjis chuckled and patted his son’s back.
Luke shook his head at his father’s antics.
"Alright. I wouldn’t have it any other way," Luke said.
"Congrats to you two!"
"Yeah. Seriously, I feel like I’m at your wedding already!"
"Seraphina shut up!"
"She’s right. You kids should give us grandparents soon!"
"You... dad..mum... how..."
"Hehhe.. ah... youth... messing with these kids is really worth it."
"Ahem... anyway, Asmodeus and Seraphina, we need grandkids," The Moores and the Vincents said at the same time as if they had rehearsed this.
"Pfffttttt.... Sorry but you guys are so funny!" A familiar voice reverberated in everyone’s ears.
Everyone turned to look in that direction.
Brown hair, black eyes. Handsome face. Tall, lean athletic build. Standing at 1.85 meters. Wearing a long coat, jeans and sneakers. He looked no different from an ordinary person. He had a polite smile on his face. But his eyes were sharper and deeper.
"Aiden!" Desmonda didn’t know what came over her. She leaped into his arms.
Aiden didn’t reject her advances.
He hugged her back.
"I missed you too, Des," Aiden said warmly.
"Des, will you be my girlfriend? I realized I had feelings for you before I left. If you are not seeing anyone, maybe we could..."
Before Aiden finished, she nodded. "Yes, I’ll be your girlfriend."
"Alright."
The duo stared into each other’s eyes as if everyone else didn’t exist.
Everyone was happy for them. Especially Desmonda’s parents. Their dense little girl had finally grown up.
"Hey love birds. You can seal the relationship with a kiss later. For now, we have some catching up to do," Seraphina said.
"Right," Aiden and Desmonda said at the same time.
Angela offered Aiden a seat behind her.
"I will show her childhood pictures to you soon, okay.." She whispered into his ear. But, everyone was a warrior. So, they heard her loud and clear.
"Mum!" Desmonda shouted.
Everyone broke out into laughter.
Suddenly, everyone received a notification and checked their phones.
The Hessington State General HQ of the Warriors Association had posted a video.
