Chapter 304 - Creepy Hand
The enormous gray fingers slowly stretched out, then curled up again.
It was almost as if it was testing them.
And Theo? He just stared at it in disbelief.
’Is it moving by itself now?’
The four remaining attackers noticed it too.
One of them immediately started backing away.
’’What the hell is that thing?’’
The hand suddenly stopped moving its fingers.
Then it instantly turned towards the member who was backing away.
The man’s face went ghostly pale.
’’Shit!’’
He immediately thrust both hands up, shooting out a huge fire beam towards the hand.
BOOOOOM!!!
Flames swallowed the gray hand.
For a split second, the man looked relieved.
Then the hand came straight through the flames without even a hint of damage.
’’WHAT?!’’
Before he could even turn around, two fingers picked him up by his middle.
The man, despite being an experienced hunter, began trembling from fear.
’’LET GO!’’ he shouted desperately.
Mana erupted around him as he desperately fired spell after spell.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
None of them did anything.
The hand simply lifted him into the air, slowly pulling back towards the Chaos Door.
Theo only stared at it, his mouth wide open.
’’What the fuck...’’
The man let out a soul-chilling scream as the hand got closer and closer to the Chaos Door.
’’HELP ME!’’ he shouted one last time.
But his teammates could only look on.
A second later, the hand dragged him straight through the Chaos Door.
WHOOSH!
The man, hand, and door vanished into thin air.
Theo remained completely silent for several long seconds.
’’Theo!’’ Owen shouted, snapping him out of his daze. ’’Nice spell, man!’’
’’Are you ready to keep going?’’
Glancing back at his friend, he immediately focused once more.
’’Yeah,’’ Theo muttered, glancing at the remaining three attackers. ’’Let’s finish this.’’
’’Good!’’
Owen launched himself forward right away.
At almost the exact same moment, Lucienne arrived from the opposite side.
The three remaining gold cores instantly found themselves attacked from both directions.
’’SPREAD OUT!’’ one of them shouted.
Without hesitation, all of them separated.
One towards Lucienne, another towards Owen, while the final man charged straight towards Theo.
’’OHO!’’ Owen shouted while laughing. ’’I like where this is going!’’
His rock head turned back to Theo for a moment.
’’You better not interfere with my fight, got it?!’’
Theo’s brows twitched.
Yet, he simply ignored his overenthusiastic friend, channeling lightning through his body instead.
But the two men charging at them had heard every word.
Both of their expressions had grown far darker than before.
’These fucking brats...’
They were gold cores, and not weak ones either.
They’d gone through many battles over the years and had always come out on top.
Yet these two silver cores were already talking as if the fights had been decided!
The man heading for Theo gritted his teeth.
For a brief moment, the image of the enormous hand from the Chaos Door flashed through his mind.
’No,’ he thought, shaking his head. ’I have nothing to fear.’
’It must’ve consumed a lot of his mana. And if worse comes to worst, I’ll just blink away.’
The man’s confidence returned immediately.
As someone blessed enough to awaken the space affinity, he was going to survive this battle.
At the same time, Owen’s opponent seemed to reach some kind of similar conclusion.
’’DON’T GET COCKY!’’ he shouted angrily. ’’YOU AREN’T EVEN HALF AS STRONG AS YOUR BUDDY!’’
The flames underneath Owen’s rock hood brightened.
’’We’ll see about that!’’ he shouted while laughing.
As he rapidly closed the distance with the man, dozens of rocks shot out of the ground.
Within seconds, a massive, flaming sledgehammer formed in his hands.
’’Catch this, motherfucker!’’ Owen shouted as he hurled the hammer towards the man.
At the same time, Theo had started his fight as well.
He rapidly circled around the man, going so fast he flickered from one place to the next.
The man’s eyes followed him closely.
’He’s fast,’ he thought. ’That thing from before certainly isn’t the only threat.’
As Theo lunged towards the man, a strange mana began gathering around him.
WHOOSH!
Just as Theo had finally closed the distance, the man suddenly vanished from his spot.
Theo’s umbrella sliced through nothing but thin air.
Almost simultaneously, the man reappeared twenty yards behind him.
Theo spun around instantly.
’What was that?’ he thought, raising an eyebrow.
As his mind raced, only one possible option popped up.
The space element.
It was the only element alongside the curse element that he’d never seen anyone use just because of its rarity.
His brows furrowed right away.
’I’ll have to be extra careful,’ he thought. ’Fighting an experienced gold core with gold level spells for an element I’ve never seen is definitely not ideal.’
The man smiled upon seeing Theo’s expression.
’’Not as easy as you expected anymore?’’ he mocked him. ’’Your speed doesn’t mean shit compared to a spatial blink.’’
Theo stared at the man for a moment but didn’t respond.
A plan had long formed itself inside his mind.
’’Well then,’’ the man continued smugly. ’’Let’s see how you get away from such situations!’’
Before Theo could react, large ice spikes shot from the ground all around him.
Several even curved overhead, completely sealing him inside.
’He’s trying to trap me,’ Theo thought, lightning crackling inside his hands.
But just before he tried to brute-force his way out... a thought suddenly popped up in his mind.
Slowly, the crackling lightning faded away as a small smile appeared on his face.
’This should work too,’ he thought.
A strange black mana wrapped itself around his hand.
Without hesitation, he pressed it against the ice dome.
For a second, nothing happened.
Then, the ice wall rapidly started losing its color as cracks spread across its surface.
Finally, a huge section turned into blue dust, quietly floating away in the wind.
’Nice!’
Theo immediately jumped out, the black mana receding back inside his body.
But he’d barely taken a step outside when he noticed a huge shadow above him.
’Oh,’ he thought, glancing up with wide eyes.
