Chapter 143: It Seemed Like a Draw
Kevin slowly moved closer to Bruce Lee and rejected him directly.
"I have nothing to teach you. Besides, I have no reason to tell you my secrets."
A disappointed look appeared on Bruce Lee’s face.
But he quickly looked up again, his eyes firm.
"Then I have no choice but to offend you. I challenge you to a fight. If I win, you must teach me how to become stronger."
Kevin frowned. "You want to fight? Fine, I can do that. But let’s be clear: you pay for your own medical bills."
As soon as he finished speaking, Kevin shot forward like an arrow, thrusting his lance at Bruce Lee.
"Good!" Bruce Lee said.
The flying sword beneath his feet instantly broke away. It quickly shrank until it was the size of a dagger, then flew straight at Kevin’s face.
Kevin’s eyes widened. He quickly swung his lance to block it.
Metal crashed against metal.
After Kevin knocked the sword aside, it circled through the air and stabbed at him again.
Kevin quickly pulled back his lance and blocked it.
The flying sword missed a second time, then circled around and attacked again.
It was incredibly fast. If it missed once, it attacked again immediately.
Once. Twice. Three times...
In just a few seconds, Bruce Lee’s flying sword attacked Kevin twenty-eight times.
Fortunately, Kevin’s reactions were fast enough. He blocked every attack with the Lance of Longinus.
Still, being forced to defend the whole time made Kevin very unhappy.
Bruce Lee stood in the distance.
His feet were off the ground, but he did not fall. He was floating in the air, though he was much slower than when he stood on his flying sword.
He formed hand seals with both hands and kept directing the flying sword. A light layer of sweat appeared on his forehead.
Clearly, sending out twenty-eight attacks in a row had also taken a lot out of him.
After wiping away the sweat, he smiled. "As expected of Mr. Kevin. My normal sword-control technique is not enough to defeat you. Luckily, I recently learned a new skill. Kevin, watch closely."
As soon as he finished speaking, the flying sword circling Kevin quickly returned to Bruce Lee.
Bruce Lee formed another hand seal. Green energy appeared between him and the sword.
One sword became two. Two became four. Four became eight...
The sword kept multiplying until there were sixty-eight identical flying swords.
Bruce Lee opened his eyes wide and shouted, "Kevin, this is the newest skill I have learned. I have only just begun practicing it, so I can only create sixty-eight flying swords. When fully mastered, it can create one thousand and eighty-six flying swords. That is why it is called the Myriad Swords Art."
The moment he finished speaking, all sixty-eight flying swords shot toward Kevin like guided missiles.
Each sword followed a different path. As they closed in, they blocked off every direction Kevin could use to escape.
Kevin’s eyes went wide. "Damn!"
Bruce Lee’s move truly impressed him.
Kevin put away the Lance of Longinus. Then he said coldly, one word at a time, "I admit it. In a one-on-one fight, you are stronger than me. But I’m sorry. You are still going to lose."
With that, Kevin raised his right hand.
A huge number of faint images suddenly appeared behind him.
A powerful wind swept across the sky. The combined noise of countless spinning propellers was so loud that it made Bruce Lee extremely annoyed.
Suddenly, Bruce Lee’s eyes widened. His face was filled with shock and disbelief.
Behind Kevin, more than ten thousand drones were flying in formation.
Some carried Vulcan cannons. Others were equipped with RPG launchers, heavy machine guns, or howitzers.
All kinds of weapons were mounted on the drones. Their countless gun barrels were aimed at the flying swords Bruce Lee had just sent out.
"Damn!" Bruce Lee only had time to curse before the sky was filled with blinding flashes of light.
He quickly raised his hands to cover his eyes.
Then he heard a deafening barrage of gunfire and explosions. Countless bullets struck his sixty-eight flying swords.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The terrifying impact of the bullets and explosions knocked the swords off course.
Kevin simply stood in midair, completely calm and motionless. The flying swords tried to avoid him, but the drones behind him continued chasing and firing at them.
Bruce Lee tried to control the swords and make them circle around before attacking Kevin again. However, the drones behind Kevin followed them closely without letting up.
In the sky, nearly 120 drones had locked onto each flying sword.
In other words, every sword was being targeted by 120 gun barrels at the same time, all firing continuously.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The moment a flying sword moved one meter forward, bullets and shells knocked it back.
In fact, even if a sword advanced one meter, the bullets and shells could send it flying two meters backward.
After a few seconds, the flying swords that had been circling Kevin returned to Bruce Lee.
Bruce Lee was now covered in sweat. The confidence he had shown at the beginning was gone.
He kept controlling the flying swords to block the metal barrage in front of him, terrified that even one bullet or artillery shell might hit him.
He even gritted his teeth and tore open a talisman. An electromagnetic shield appeared in front of him to protect him from the explosions.
The barrage continued for a full minute. At last, the thousands of drones behind Kevin ran out of bullets.
Only then did Bruce Lee withdraw the sixty-eight flying swords with trembling hands and a pale face.
One by one, the swords flew back into his palm. Like a stack of playing cards, they overlapped and merged together until they became the single flying sword they had started as.
Kevin watched Bruce Lee quietly and did not press the attack.
After all, Bruce Lee was someone Kevin had worshiped in his previous life. Kevin decided to show him some respect.
He copied Bruce Lee’s gesture, clasped his fists, and said, "I’m out of bullets. Let’s call it a draw. What do you say?"
Bruce Lee’s eyes lit up. "Yes, yes, exactly. It’s a draw. Neither of us could defeat the other. A draw is good. A draw is good."
Despite the numbness in his hands, Bruce Lee also clasped his fists and returned the gesture.
However, when Bruce Lee raised his head again and wanted to discuss how to become stronger with Kevin, Kevin had already boarded the carrier-based aircraft that had been sitting in front of him. The aircraft took off at once.
Bruce Lee watched as the aircraft grew smaller in the distance. His eyes narrowed into a thin line.
"I’m not giving up." With that, Bruce Lee stepped onto his flying sword and quickly chased after him.
Kevin had assumed that after suffering a defeat at his hands, Bruce Lee would be too embarrassed to ask him to teach him again.
But right after Kevin had shaken him off, Bruce Lee came chasing after him on his flying sword.
Now Kevin and Eliana were sitting inside the fighter jet, while Bruce Lee flew alongside them on his flying sword.
Kevin rolled his eyes when he saw this.
What a pain. I can’t get rid of him.
In frustration, Kevin let Eliana fly the carrier-based aircraft. He then stepped onto the Wheels of Flame & Wind and flew beside Bruce Lee.
Kevin gave him a cold, annoyed look. "You really are persistent. I already told you—I have nothing to teach you."
Bruce Lee stubbornly replied, "That’s fine. I can follow you for a while. Even if you won’t teach me, I can watch what you do and learn on my own."
Kevin rolled his eyes and sighed. "Fine, do whatever you want. But first, tell me how you managed to locate me."
Bruce Lee took out a copper coin and held it up in front of Kevin. "I found you with this."
Kevin stared at the coin in shock. "Are you saying you found me just by flipping a coin?"
Bruce Lee nodded. "It’s one of my Talent abilities. I can use divination to predict things. As long as it isn’t something that would greatly affect the world, I can usually find some clues about it. Finding your location is a small matter, so my prediction was quite accurate."
Kevin cursed under his breath. "Damn."
He had never expected this Eastern Sword Immortal to be a fortune-teller as well.
The two of them continued flying side by side.
When Bruce Lee noticed that Kevin’s Wheels of Flame & Wind could not even reach the speed of sound, he slowed down his flying sword to match Kevin’s speed.
They chatted as they flew, and Kevin finally learned where Bruce Lee came from.
Before the Eldritch arrived, Bruce Lee had worked as a museum curator.
The museum housed famous swords from every period of the great Eastern nation’s history. When the Eldritch arrived, those swords granted Bruce Lee an S-Tier Talent called Sword Immortal.
This Talent was incredibly powerful. What Bruce Lee had shown so far was only a small part of its abilities.
According to Bruce Lee, the Talent had extremely powerful single-target attacks.
In the first few days after the Eldritch arrived, he had used this ability to easily drive back several attacks by Eldritch Entities.
However, his mental strength was limited, and he had no way to resist curses or mental attacks. Because of this, he did not dare face a huge number of Eldritch Entities by himself.
As a result, the number of Eldritch Entities he had killed was far lower than Kevin’s and his companions’ total. That was why Bruce Lee had not made it onto the achievement rankings.
After learning this, Kevin sighed inwardly.
As expected, there are still many powerful humans among the Survivors.
It was just that some people’s Talents needed more time to develop before their true strengths and special abilities became clear.
Bruce Lee’s Myriad Swords Art was a perfect example.
Without his drone army, Kevin would have had no choice but to turn around and run.
Being treated like a live target by sixty-eight flying swords would be a terrible feeling.
As they talked, they unknowingly entered the area within four hundred kilometers of the "Daddy" Cannon.
"Mr. Kevin, are you sure your companion is somewhere in these waters? I can sense a very terrifying Eldritch presence here." Bruce Lee deliberately slowed down and looked around with great caution.
Suddenly, his eyes turned toward the front-left.
"Look! What is that?"
