Chapter 91: Allies Turn Against You
Richard and Derek looked at each other, then kicked a few of the captains who were trying to back out.
"Idiots! You’re all cowards!" Richard shouted, pointing at Kevin and the girls on the wall, who were recovering their strength. "Open your eyes and look. That Eldritch merchant just took half of their Sanity, Stamina, and Health. Plus, they’ve used up all their Bullets. What’s there to be afraid of?"
Derek looked around at the group and said coldly, "A golden opportunity is right in front of us. If we kill them, everything they got becomes ours. Those pretty women will be lined up and waiting for you. So, decide. Do you want to be a scared turtle, or a hungry wolf?"
The captains looked at each other, still unsure.
Then Dewayne kicked over a shelf and cursed, "Damn it, I’m in! You turtles, don’t think you can just hide here and get away with it. Raphael and the others are still alive. When they count heads, they’ll know you ran away."
He licked the blade of his knife and gave a cold smile. "What do you think they’ll do if they find out their allies were hiding and did nothing?"
Hearing this, the captains’ faces filled with fear. Trembling, they slowly stood up.
"Damn it, I’ll be the bad guy!"
"Let’s rob them and kill those women!"
"Count me in. If we all go together, they can’t stop us!"
Seeing that everyone was finally ready to fight, Richard and Derek nodded. "No time to waste. Let’s head down the mountain now. Remember to smear some blood on yourselves, so you look injured."
"Got it!"
The captains shouted, picked up their weapons, and headed down the mountain.
At the same time.
Kevin carried Eliana back onto the deck of the Two-Masted Sloop.
Everyone except Kevin was battered and covered in blood.
Kevin looked at them and smiled. "Good work."
As soon as he said that, Nova rushed into his arms and hugged him tightly. "If Lilith hadn’t helped us back there, would we have died?"
Kevin patted Nova on the back.
He looked at the girls around him, a hint of worry and fear flashing in his eyes. He nodded slowly. "Have you all forgotten? I’m a super Survivor with daily intel."
Celula rubbed her nose and walked up slowly, speaking softly. "Kevin Captain, stop bragging. I was watching you the whole time. When that scary woman showed up, I could clearly see surprise on your face."
Kevin turned to look at Monchhichi and smiled. "Sometimes, when you’re all too smart, it makes things hard for me."
Monchhichi giggled. "What, are you worried that if we’re too smart, you won’t be able to fool us anymore?"
Then Luna and Amelia walked up slowly.
They took Celula and Monchhichi by the wrists and gently comforted them. "Kevin has his own secrets. When he’s ready to talk, he’ll tell us."
Celula nodded quickly. "I’m not trying to pry into Kevin Captain’s secrets. I just want to tell him he doesn’t have to carry everything alone. We can protect ourselves too."
Kevin looked at Celula’s serious expression, and his face softened.
Then he noticed the Affection levels above Celula’s and Monchhichi’s heads. They were at 110 and 100 points, respectively.
Kevin was thrilled.
He had been wanting Celula’s "Wheels of Flame & Wind" Talent for a long time, and Monchhichi’s "Etherealize" Talent was also very useful—perfect for sneak attacks.
Thinking about this, Kevin almost wanted to grab Celula and Monchhichi right then, take them into the Captain’s room, make them his women, and sign the "Covenant of the Saint."
Just then, Raphael and Toti walked up.
They both knelt on one knee and sincerely thanked Kevin. "Captain, thank you for saving us."
Hearing them call him Captain with genuine respect, Kevin gave a warm smile. "Welcome, my friends."
Then Kevin noticed that Raphael’s Affection toward him was also surprisingly high—a full 80 points.
It seems that because he saved Toti, Raphael was grateful to him, which was why his Affection was so high.
If he kept working at it, Raphael would eventually become one of his "covenant-bearers" too.
That way, he would soon have six "covenant-bearers." The rewards they would give back to him alone would probably be worth more than what a dozen Survivor teams could produce.
Kevin patted Toti on the shoulder, then helped Raphael up. "From now on, you’ll be the diplomat for this ship."
Raphael was surprised. "Me? The diplomat? I just joined your team."
Kevin waved his hand. "Position doesn’t have to match seniority. I only care about your ability. You managed to put together a temporary alliance of eighteen ships in a short time and became their leader in name. That proves your diplomatic skills."
He then turned to Toti. "Old man, what I said before still stands. From now on, you’re the one steering this ship."
Toti thumped his chest with a clatter. "Don’t worry, Captain. Wherever you want to go, I’ll sail you there."
Next, Kevin assigned roles to the other girls.
Celula would stay on as the ship’s navigator, keeping an eye on the movements of other Survivors in the surrounding waters.
Monchhichi would serve as the strategist, responsible for gathering and organizing information from the world channel, regional channel, and other sources.
As for Luna, Amelia, and Nova, they would form the combat command center.
Nova would be in charge of monitoring the presence of Eldritch Entities and providing support to the team.
Luna would handle supplies and brew potions.
Amelia would enchant ammunition and serve as long-range fire support.
Kevin and Eliana would act as the ship’s command center, ready to support any side at any time.
It wasn’t that Kevin didn’t want to give Eliana a role, but she knew nothing about sailing or teamwork. For now, the only things she was good at were fighting and going to bed.
So Kevin had no choice but to keep her by his side and slowly teach her about human civilization.
After getting all that sorted out, Kevin wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Finally, we’ve got a proper crew together."
Kevin crooked his finger at Celula and Monchhichi. "You two, come with me to the Captain’s room. I’ve got two stuffed dolls in there for you."
When Celula heard "stuffed dolls," her eyes lit up.
She ran over and grabbed Kevin’s arm. "Kevin Captain, what kind of stuffed dolls are they?"
Kevin tapped her on the nose and smiled. "Go see for yourself."
He held out his hand to Monchhichi. "Let’s go together."
Monchhichi hesitated for a moment, then a blush crept across her face. "Isn’t it a bit... inappropriate for me and Celula to go together?"
Kevin grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the cabin. "Nothing inappropriate about it. Let’s go."
Kevin knew Monchhichi had figured out his little plan, but he wasn’t going to play games with these girls. He just dragged her straight into the Captain’s room.
Not far away, Nova and Luna leaned against the wall, watching the three disappear into the cabin entrance with amused expressions.
"Sigh. Two innocent twin sisters, about to be ravaged by that beast Kevin." Luna sighed, but she looked completely delighted.
Nova chuckled. "This is a good thing. With the two of them on board, Kevin will only get stronger. And we’ll be safer on this terrifying sea."
Luna stretched and yawned. "I hope they don’t take too long. I’m tired. Let’s go to the helm and crash on the floor."
Nova nodded and was about to leave with Luna when suddenly Amelia’s voice rang out. "We’ve got company!"
Luna and Nova’s drowsiness vanished instantly.
They hurried to the bow of the ship. In the distance, on the beach, nearly thirty Survivors were charging toward them in a crowd.
Leading them were Richard and Derek.
Just then, Raphael and Toti also walked over.
They saw the crowd in the distance and both furrowed their brows.
"They’re still alive?" Toti said in surprise.
"Not just alive. Count how many of them there are." Raphael pointed at the distant crowd, his voice cold. "In that battle just now, both of our teams were almost completely wiped out. Even Kevin Captain and the others nearly got killed. How come Richard and Derek didn’t lose a single man?"
The others heard Raphael’s reasoning and frowned as well.
Just then, Monchhichi and Celula ran up to the bow, their faces flushed red. They awkwardly straightened their clothes and stared nervously into the distance.
Kevin followed behind them, his face dark.
He had barely stepped into the Captain’s room when he grabbed Monchhichi and Celula and pulled them close.
Kevin’s stats were far beyond what a normal human could handle. The twin sisters didn’t stand a chance against him. They could only let him tear off their clothes.
Just as Kevin was about to start teasing them, footsteps in the distance cut him off.
Kevin looked through the window and saw who it was. He was so angry he cursed under his breath.
Smart as he was, Kevin figured it out right away — Richard and Derek and their group had never joined the fight at all.
While their allies were risking their lives, these guys had just hidden away like cowards.
Even Kevin couldn’t stand that kind of shameless behavior.
While Kevin was fuming, Monchhichi and Celula took the chance to put their clothes back on and escape the Captain’s room.
But they didn’t call Kevin out for what he’d just done. They just stood there, cheeks red, watching him cautiously and keeping their distance on purpose.
Seeing this, Kevin hated Richard and Derek even more.
Not only had they deserted the battle, but they’d also ruined his fun.
Thinking about it, Kevin glared coldly at the crowd in the distance and raised his voice. "What are you here for?"
