Chapter 900 - 472: Even Seduction Is Allowed
The night at the Yates Family’s house, however, was a different story.
On the dining table, a few dishes were laid out, but no one had any appetite. Lucas Yates kept nervously checking whether the phone in his pocket was ringing. He had left his number on the back of that photo he’d slipped into Avery Jane’s bag. If Avery hadn’t forgotten the past, then today she clearly wanted to cut herself cleanly away from everything to do with the Yates Family; in that case, not calling him would be perfectly normal.
But if something truly unexpected had happened to her, then the moment she saw that photo, she would definitely call him.
Sitting opposite, Evelyn Yates poked at the food on her plate, frowning. Compared to the food at the Hughes Family, the food here was worlds apart; there wasn’t a single dish she wanted to eat.
Meanwhile Harper Johnson kept staring at the doorway. She was terrified—afraid that at any moment the police would suddenly burst in and drag Brian Yates away.
"Brian, you’d better hurry up and hide somewhere for a while. It’s really dangerous for you to stay at home any longer." Harper put down her bowl and stood up. Right now Arthur Yates had fallen ill and was in the hospital, and the First Madam was there keeping him company. She quickly walked into Old Master Yates’s study, where his safe was kept.
Her fingers turned lightly, matching the code, and the safe sprang open. Inside were two paintings, several bundles of US Dollar, a few loose diamond in small black velvet pouches, and some gold bars.
Harper picked up a suitcase and swept everything inside. Brian Yates followed behind her. "Mom, what are you doing?"
He never imagined that at a time like this, his own mother would actually want to take what little was left and run.
"Brian, we’re leaving together and taking Evelyn with us. There’s no way we can stay in this house any longer. By dawn, I’m afraid even this place won’t belong to the Yates Family anymore. Do you actually want to go to prison? If that happens, your mother’s second half of life will really have no hope left." Harper snapped the suitcase shut. You could pretty much call this the entirety of the Yates Family’s remaining assets. Brian looked at Harper. "Mom, if you take all this, what about Father, and Aunt?"
"Have you gone stupid? Brian, you’re still thinking about that at a time like this? Your father’s been biased toward your older brother his whole life. If he hadn’t died, you think he’d even spare you a second look?" The suitcase was a bit heavy; Harper dragged it out while sharply scolding her son. He was still overthinking when the Yates Family was already finished, beyond saving.
If they hadn’t sent Evelyn to Joshua Hughes back then, perhaps none of this would have happened. Harper glanced at the photo of Arthur Yates and Lucas Yates hanging on the wall and shivered, her whole body bristling with dread. In the picture, Lucas was smiling, as if he were looking straight at her—really looking at her.
Was this truly retribution that never misses? Was it really like this? So in the unseen currents of fate, Avery Jane ended up entangled with Joshua Hughes—was it Lucas Yates coming to collect his life?
Terrified, Harper hurriedly shut the study door.
In the office at the Hughes Clan Tower, the sky outside was gradually darkening, but the lights inside were still on. Joshua Hughes was looking over the last document when his phone rang. He glanced at the little woman sleeping soundly on the sofa, then answered the call, deliberately lowering his voice. "What is it?"
"Mr. Hughes, the Yates Family’s Second Madam is currently heading to the airport with her son and daughter. Do you want us to stop them?"
"No need. Just follow them." His thin lips curved into a faint smile, cruel as a demon’s.
Catching them now wouldn’t be any fun. He wanted to let them run, spend a few days in constant fear, then, just when they thought they were safe and started to relax, arrest them. That kind of psychological comedown was extremely exhilarating.
The charge of absconding to escape punishment alone could add a few more years to his sentence, and on top of that, fleeing with a huge sum of money, running off without paying what they owed—multiple crimes combined. This time he wanted the Yates Family to never rise again. In front of him, daring to talk terms and boast shamelessly—Harper Johnson was the first. He had actually admired this woman, wondering where her courage came from, what kind of leverage she thought she had to bargain with him. The answer to all of this would soon be revealed, he believed......

Thompson Family
"Dad, go to bed early tonight. We have to get up early tomorrow." After dinner, Nora Thompson was walking with Isaac Thompson in the courtyard when she suddenly felt a bit cold, so she wanted to go back to her room, where it was nice and warm.
