Chapter 144 A Broken Bed and a Missed Meeting
Emilia’s POV
"I’ve got you," he said, and then he was moving, filling me, and it was everything I needed and more.
The pleasure was almost overwhelming. I clung to him, my nails digging into his shoulders as he moved inside me. Every nerve ending was on fire, buzzing with sensation.
"Emilia," he groaned, his forehead pressed against mine. "You feel so good. So perfect."
I wanted to respond, but I couldn’t find words. All I could do was hold on as wave after wave of pleasure crashed over me.
When I finally fell apart in his arms, it felt like my entire world had broken and come back together. Sebastian followed seconds later, my name on his lips.
We lay tangled together, both breathing hard. I thought maybe that would be enough, that the pill’s effects would start to wear off.
I was very, very wrong.
"Round two?" Sebastian asked, sounding amused.
"I hate this pill," I said, but I was already reaching for him again.
I woke up sometime in the early afternoon, my body pleasantly sore and my mind foggy. Sunlight streamed through the windows, far brighter than it should be if it was morning.
Sebastian was still asleep beside me, one arm thrown over his eyes. The bed was a total disaster. Sheets tangled, pillows on the floor, one of the bedposts slightly crooked.
"You broke the bed," Eve noted. "I didn’t even know that was possible."
"We didn’t break it," I said defensively. "We just... stressed it."
I carefully slipped out of Sebastian’s arms and limped to the bathroom. Every muscle in my body ached, but it was a good ache. A well-earned ache.
After a long shower, I wrapped myself in a towel and quietly made my way to the sofa in the corner of the room. I just couldn’t get back in that bed. What if the pill’s effects weren’t completely gone? What if just lying next to him started another marathon session?
"You have no self-control," Eve said.
"Says the wolf who kept encouraging me last night."
"I was being supportive."
"You were being a pervert."
I curled up on the sofa, pulling a throw blanket over myself. The leather was cool against my too-warm skin, and I finally felt like I could breathe normally again.
"Never again," I whispered to myself. "No more mysterious pills from my mother-in-law, no matter how much she swears they’re good for me."
A phone buzzed somewhere in the wreckage of the bedroom. Sebastian groaned and fumbled around for it.
"Shit," he muttered. "Shit, shit, shit."
"What’s wrong?" I asked.
He sat up, running his hand through his messy hair. "There was an important board meeting this morning. I completely forgot about it."
I knew it must be because he was too worn out last night, which made him oversleep.
Sebastian got up immediately and went to the bathroom.
Thinking back to last night made me a little embarrassed, but I hadn’t forgotten what I needed to say.
I padded barefoot into the bathroom where he was already brushing his teeth, looking unfairly attractive even with toothpaste foam on his mouth.
"Sebastian, I need to talk to you," I said. "It’s important."
He glanced at me through the mirror, then checked his watch and grimaced. "What’s wrong? Let’s talk about it later. I’m really in a rush right now."
My resolve wavered. Maybe tonight would be better.
"Okay," I said hesitantly. "We’ll talk tonight then. When you get back."
Before heading out, he crossed the room and kissed my forehead, his lips warm against my skin. Then he leaned down to whisper in my ear, "By the way, last night? You were incredible. I’m a very satisfied man."
Heat flooded my cheeks and neck so fast I probably looked like a tomato.
"You... you jerk!" I kicked at his leg, but he dodged easily, laughing as he walked out.
"See you tonight, wife!" he called over his shoulder.
After he left, I took my time washing up. When I finally made my way downstairs, Mila was sitting on the living room sofa with a knowing smile that made me want to turn around and hide.
"Good morning, dear," she said cheerfully. "I had the kitchen prepare some healthy soup for you."
A servant immediately appeared with a steaming bowl, setting it on the table in front of me.
I sat down across from Mila, trying very hard not to think about whether they’d heard anything last night. The bedroom wasn’t that far from theirs. Oh God, what if the whole pack house heard me screaming Sebastian’s name?
"Don’t be embarrassed, Emilia," Mila said, reading my mortified expression perfectly. "I completely understand the... intensity between newly mated couples who’ve just completed their bond. The first few weeks are always the most passionate."
"Oh my God," I muttered, wanting to crawl under the sofa and die. "Please stop talking."
"It’s perfectly natural!" Mila continued, clearly enjoying my embarrassment. "Why, when Titus and I first mated, we barely left our room for a month. The pack practically ran itself."
"I’m begging you," I said, covering my face with my hands. "Have mercy on your daughter-in-law."
She laughed, patting my knee. "Alright, alright. But do drink the soup. It’ll help restore your energy. And I had the cook pack another bowl for Sebastian. He rushed out this morning without having any."
I picked up the bowl, grateful for something to do with my hands, and took a sip. It was actually delicious, rich and savory with herbs I couldn’t identify.
"If you’re free this morning, why don’t you take it to his office?" Mila said. "I’m sure he’d appreciate it."
I nearly choked on the soup. "I don’t think that’s necessary. He’s fine. Very... energetic, as you pointed out."
"Energy or not, he needs proper food. Especially if you two are going to keep up that pace." Her eyes shone with amusement. "Trust me, dear. Even Alpha stamina has its limits."
"Where’s your daughter when I need her?" I groaned. "At least Tiffany would help me change the subject."
"Tiffany takes after me," Mila said proudly. "We both speak our minds."
"I’ve noticed," I said dryly. "It’s a family trait."
"Come now, don’t be difficult. Just take the soup to Sebastian. Think of it as wifely duty."
I opened my mouth to argue, but the look on Mila’s face told me there was no way to win this. "Fine. Okay. I’ll take him the soup."
After finishing my own bowl, I headed to the garage with the carefully packed container. The garage was like a luxury car showroom, with vehicles I couldn’t even name lined up in neat rows.
I stood there for a moment, overwhelmed by all the choices, before spotting a silver Mercedes-Benz that looked slightly less scary than the others.
