Chapter 145 The Fertility Soup
Sebastian’s POV
The moment I walked into my office at Simons Imperial Group, Fynn’s eyes locked onto me with that annoying look that made me want to throw him out the window.
"Why the hell are you staring at me like some creep?" I snapped.
He circled me slowly, arms crossed, studying me. "Be honest with me, Alpha. You had crazy sex last night, didn’t you?"
"Since when do I need to report my private life to my Beta?" I shot back. "Last time I checked, I’m still the one running this pack and this company."
"You’re absolutely right. You’re the boss when it comes to pack business," Fynn said with that annoying grin. "But right now, I’m asking as your friend. So spill it. You reek of sex right now."
I glared at Fynn. "Yes. Happy now? Can we move on?"
"I KNEW IT!" Fynn practically shouted, then had the nerve to examine me more closely. "Look at you. Walking like you got hit by a truck, those dark circles under your eyes, and you can barely keep your eyes open. Man, you look completely wiped out."
"Are you done analyzing my physical condition?" I growled.
"Almost." He leaned against my desk. "So how was it? Give me details. Did the whole pack house hear..."
"Fynn, I’m seriously reconsidering your workload. Maybe you have too much free time if you can stand here gossiping with nothing better to do."
He raised his hands in surrender. "Fine, fine. Let’s talk business then, shall we?" He followed me to my chair, suddenly professional. "Since you were too busy being ’obsessed with your Luna’ to show up this morning, I pushed the board meeting to this afternoon."
I nodded, opening the file in front of me. Then his words hit me, and I looked up sharply. "Wait. Obsessed with what?"
"Your... Luna?" Fynn backed toward the door. "Your mate? Your wife? The woman who apparently kept you up all night..."
I grabbed a stack of documents, ready to throw them at his head, but the jerk was already running out of my office, his laughter echoing down the hallway.
"I’m going to fire him one of these days," I muttered.
"No, you won’t," Ryder said. "He’s your best friend and most loyal Beta. Besides, he’s right. We were obsessed with our mate last night."
"Don’t you start too."
I buried myself in work, trying to catch up on everything I’d missed. The board meeting had been important. A major discussion about the Florida resort development project. Several Alpha families were fighting for the construction rights, and I needed to make a decision soon.
I was deep in reviewing contracts when my office door opened without a knock.
I looked up, ready to snap at whoever had the nerve to barge in, but the words died in my throat.
Emilia stood there, looking absolutely beautiful in a simple dress, holding a thermos in her hands. Her scent filled my office immediately, and Ryder practically purred.
"Why are you here?" I asked, trying to sound casual despite the fact that every part of me wanted to pull her onto my lap.
She walked over and set the thermos on my desk. "To deliver this."
I eyed it suspiciously and opened the lid. The smell hit me immediately. A rich, herbal soup that practically shouted "fertility enhancement."
My eyebrows shot up. "What exactly is this?"
"It’s a healthy soup," Emilia said. "I was told it would help restore your energy."
I pushed it back toward her. "Take it back. I’m not drinking this."
"Excuse me? You think I have nothing better to do than play delivery girl for you and your mother? Mila asked me to bring this here, and now you want me to take it all the way back?"
"Then stay here if you don’t want to make the trip twice," I said. "But I’m still not drinking that soup."
"Why the hell not?"
"You really want to know?"
"Yes, I really want to know why you’re being so difficult about a simple bowl of soup." She crossed her arms.
I waved her closer. "Come here."
She leaned over the desk, suspicious but curious. I kept my voice low. "Drinking this particular soup will seriously increase the chances of getting you pregnant. Give it a few months, and we’ll have a whole bunch of pups running around."
