Claimed by the Mad Lycan King

Chapter 118: THE MATE BOND FOR THE SHIFTER

The situation didn’t look good, as King Asher came with his warriors and immediately spread his people to look for Zade.

[You have trespassed the territory without permission!] Ace mind-linked Altair. His warriors were standing behind him, and so were Altair’s.

Meanwhile, in different places, a few skirmishes happened. Caspian and Zephyr were leading the alphas of the packs under Zade to fight back Altair’s warriors.

Jeremy was also there to help. But the humans didn’t make things easy, as they tried to kill them. Before long, it became a three-way battle.

The only reason they held back was because the human’s forces were present, and they couldn’t be exposed. As shifters, they would instinctively shift back into human form if they were dying, and doing so in front of a human would cause more trouble.

The tension between the shifters was very high, and it seemed that no one would back down.

[Your king is unstable, and it is within the law for the Lycan to interfere.] Altair replied coldly, and at the same time, he received information from Asher about Zade’s whereabouts.

Currently, Zade had moved to wreak havoc in the Iron Fangs Pack. He killed some of their warriors, which only fueled his beast’s bloodthirst, making it stronger.

With that information, all of them moved there. Asher was closer to the Iron Fangs Pack, so he and his warriors had spotted Zade first. It didn’t take long before they were engaged in a brutal fight.

Seara woke up with a start. She looked around. This room was not a familiar place for her, but then she remembered what happened.

The medicine that Jane made her drink had knocked her out for good, and now she needed to gather her bearings to get off the bed and find out what happened.

Zade was still not there, and she was sure of it, because if he had returned, he would have been by her side.

But before she could step out of the room, she heard the conversation between Jane and Leia about what was going on and how they had found Zade.

The relief that Seara felt didn’t last long when she heard King Altair was trying to kill her mate.

"No, he can’t kill Zade..." Seara walked toward Leia and Jane; she pleaded with them. "Please, take me to Zade. He can’t kill him."

"We know. But the situation is still under control, Seara; you don’t need to worry." Leia tried to reassure her. If she could do something, she would have done that, but this situation was out of her reach.

"No, you said King Altair is going to kill him."

Altair was another pure-blooded Lycan, so he would be able to fight Zade, especially with the help of King Asher.

"It’s okay, this is still under control." Leia took Seara’s hand, and Jane said something that she couldn’t comprehend.

Both of them were lying to her to keep her calm, but she heard what they were saying earlier, and it didn’t look good for the Shadow Blood.

"I want to go there," Seara insisted. "Let me see Zade."

"You can’t, honey; there are a lot of shifters out there, and we have been instructed to stay inside the house until the situation is under control." Jane then told her to get something to eat. "Eat something, okay? After that, you need to take your medicine."

"No!" Seara rejected it fiercely. Jane wanted to drug her again so she would calm down. It made Seara feel too relaxed to do anything, and she hated that feeling.

"Seara, that’s not what I meant. You need to take your medicine on time, remember?" Jane stretched out her hand, but Seara swatted her hand away.

It was Leia who tried to soothe her before Seara had another outburst.

"She is his mate; don’t you think she will be able to calm him down?" Leia looked at Jane.

"No. It is too risky. I have never seen Zade lose control over his beast, but from the story I heard, a hundred years ago, it was brutal. He didn’t even recognize Ace, Zephyr, or even Caspian." Jane had a lifespan of a werewolf; thus, she didn’t see it firsthand when Zade completely lost it.

"I have seen a Lycan lose control over his beast." Leia then corrected herself immediately. "Caspian is still a half-blood of a Lycan; he lost control over his beast when we lost our daughter, but I could calm him down."

"I think that’s different. Zade is emotionally unstable, and he is..."

Leia stopped Jane right there. "You are good at what you do, Jane, but you need to understand that we shifters work differently from what you have read in your psychology textbooks. A mate bond is not something you can take lightly. You are probably too modern for this, but shifters don’t become mates by accident. Their souls bind together, and your experience and education in the human world will not be able to explain that."

So far, Zade had killed three warriors who tried to attack him.

[Stop attacking him! He is going to see you as a threat! Take back your warriors, Asher!] Ace roared angrily through the mindlink, but Asher didn’t budge; he and Altair attacked Zade at the same time.

They didn’t send their warriors, since they knew those werewolves were no match against the mad Lycan.

However, Ace and Zephyr tried their hardest to fight back, while Zade just attacked anyone who came close to him.

Even Zephyr was being thrown against the hard concrete.

[Zade! I am on your side; stop attacking me!] Zephyr had been trying to reach Zade through mindlink, and he was not the only one, but they couldn’t get through him.

In the meantime, they were at the abandoned building near the Iron Fangs Pack house. And at the same time, the police combed the area to look for wolves, as they received a report that a large pack was spotted around here.

They needed to end this quickly.
