Chapter 111: THE RUNT DOESN’T DESERVE HIM

It was a chaotic night, to say the least. Some people left the scene to go to a safe place, but some of them stayed.

The crowd didn’t disperse; if anything, it became even more packed, as bystanders came to witness that the fire had engulfed a quarter of the hotel.

The hotel guests had been evacuated, and they stayed around the burning building, keeping a safe distance.

It was still unclear what the cause of the fire was; they only knew it came from the kitchen.

Meanwhile, on a narrow street near the main street—where they were away from prying eyes as they focused on the fire—Jeremy was having an altercation with three warriors who forced them to enter the car.

"Jane, take her away," Jeremy said. "Get to the crowd."

The shifters had to hide their existence; thus, they wouldn’t attack openly in public, and with there being a lot of people there, they wouldn’t try to do anything stupid.

Jane then took Seara’s hand and walked away, but there were three other warriors who came to stop them. They were greatly outnumbered, and the only one who could fight was Jeremy.

"What do you think you are doing?" Jeremy asked viciously. He grabbed Seara’s hand and pulled her behind his body with Jane. "Do you even know what kind of death sentence you are signing for this bullshit?"

Right now, six warriors were surrounding them, and this pissed Jeremy off. He tried to mind-link Ace or Zephyr, but he couldn’t reach them.

What actually was going on? How could there not be a single warrior that he could reach through the mindlink?

"There is no need to fight back and make this difficult. Come with us, and after our alphas are done talking to King Zade, we will let you go." The other warriors, who had just joined them, told Jeremy.

"So, what do you want me to do? Sitting at the back of the car and letting you drive to wherever hell you are going to go?"

"You are so dramatic."

Jane pressed her lips; she seemed to understand what was going on. Jeremy was too focused on fighting the six of them, but she caught what they were saying.

"The three alphas?" Jane narrowed her eyes. "Are they rebelling?" She glanced at the burning building. "Is that what you are doing?"

With Jane’s comment, it just clicked with Jeremy. This answered why he couldn’t mind-link the other warriors.

For many years, the three largest packs had been responsible for security around the residence. They were Zade’s most trusted packs for important matters. Now, however, they had joined forces to overthrow Zade.

"Get into the car now." The warriors became harsh, as two of them grabbed Jeremy by his shoulder, and he tried to fight them off.

However, one of them drew a gun and pointed it at Seara. From this distance, he could miss the shot, depending on how good his marksmanship was, but Jeremy couldn’t bet on that.

"Get into the car, now!" He hissed impatiently.

They were on the narrow street with a broken lamp, so it was not easy to spot them, especially with the commotion and fire; no one would think to look in this direction.

"You have signed your death sentence," Jeremy growled viciously.

He stood in front of Seara and glanced at her briefly because she had been very quiet the whole time. In the dimly lit street, she looked pale, and her trembling lips were pressed tightly together.

"You have heard who she is. Do you think Zade will let you live if you dare point your gun at his mate?" Jeremy was trying to stall for time, even though he was not sure the help would come.

If the three alphas had planned for this, it meant they screwed, since all the warriors were under them.

Damn it, where were Ace and Zephyr!? Jeremy was annoyed; he was also worried about them and his parents.

"She will not live for long," one of them said, and the other glared at him to shut him up.

The silver on his wrist failed to prevent Zade from shifting into his beast, but it affected him. His wounds were slow to heal, and his movement and strength were not as they used to be.

But in front of the Lycan, there were seven dead bodies, while the three alphas were injured as well, and so were the other ten warriors, as they kept coming.

The three alphas soon realized they had underestimated the Lycan, as they had never seen him fighting. The shifters used to give him their utmost respect simply because he came from the royal family and the wealthy Lycan.

Therefore, they didn’t think he could fight so well against so many shifters, especially with the silver on him.

However, it was too late for them to back down. They had to kill the Lycan here or force him to give up his mate; otherwise, it could lead to their deaths.

[King Zade, you should understand, no shifter should take a runt as their mate, especially not you. She is a blasphemy for losing her wolf spirit.] Alpha Maverick still attempted to reach a compromise. [If you like her, you can keep her, but she will not be announced as anything.]

Not only this, they were already deeply disappointed that their king had shut down the engagement with Chloe from the Wolfsbane Haven Kingdom. It was a great opportunity for them all to connect through their shared bond.

Yet, Zade had annulled the arrangement for a runt.

It pissed them off even more when they learned Seara was not only losing her wolf spirit but also her mind. She was unstable and had been hospitalized in the psychiatric ward for months.

It didn’t look good. Even though she was Zade’s destined mate, he could still have her, but he couldn’t openly announce her as his mate.

Zade should understand his position.
