Chapter 112: DEFYING THE LYCAN
[We can find a compromise in this situation, King Zade. Think about our long cooperation. It will destroy the kingdom. You will destroy us all with your decision.] Alpha Axel tried to talk sense into the Lycan.
But the only compromise that Zade was interested in was how to kill them all.
An attack on him was already bad enough, but they had the audacity to run their mouth and talk about his mate in such light.
Zade didn’t say anything about their proposal to talk about the matter at length, because the moment they suggested that he put his mate as a convenient woman and hid her, they were dead.
By this time, Zade had killed seven warriors, and he could feel the Lycan beast within him grow stronger and more ferocious with each life that it took.
This was something that the werewolves didn’t fully understand about the Lycans. The more the Lycans killed, the stronger the beast in them became, whether they killed humans or shifters alike.
Meanwhile, the werewolves’ wolf spirits would weaken when they killed a human. That was why it was like a law for them not to kill humans.
However, it was not a good thing for the Lycan either when their beast side was stronger than their human side.
And now, Zade was losing it; he saw nothing but a bunch of prey, which he was more than happy to take down.
The bloodlust roared in his ears and thrummed in his veins. He was seeing red, and the next thing that happened was a loud howl, as loud as the fire that burned half of the hotel building.
In no time, the concrete was painted red.

Jeremy had no other choice but to shift into his beast form. He gestured for Jane to be ready. They couldn’t mind-link each other, so it was rather difficult to communicate about what to do. However, they both understood their main intention was the same: they had to bring Seara to safety.
If something happened with Seara, they couldn’t imagine what Zade would do.
They did not even concern themselves with the fact that Zade was currently facing the three alphas who were rebelling against him, because nowhere in their minds did they ever imagine anything bad could happen to the Lycan.
And as if on cue, Jeremy shifted into his beast and took the six warriors by surprise, while Jane pulled Seara in the opposite direction, toward the crowd of people who were watching the burning building and the firefighters who were trying to put out the fire.
"Come on, Seara!" Jane immediately took Seara to run with her.
Both of them ran as fast as they could before some of the warriors managed to get through Jeremy, which would not be difficult knowing it was six against one, and started chasing after them.
It didn’t take long before three of the warriors managed to break free from Jeremy. They shifted into human form and chased Jane and Seara because they had gone to a crowded area where they bumped into other people standing on the sidewalk.
"We need to get into my car," Jane urged, glancing at Seara, who had remained unusually quiet throughout the chaos. She seemed to be shutting down, struggling to manage her emotions as the overwhelming events swirled around her and bombarded her senses.
But one of the warriors managed to grab Seara’s hand, and he yanked her so hard that Jane, who was holding her other hand, was being yanked back as well.
Jane yelped, and she fell on top of Seara without her being able to stop it. Immediately, she got up and checked on her.
"Are you okay?" Jane noticed that the side of Seara’s dress was ripped and that her arm was covered in dirt. She had cuts on her palm from breaking her fall and supporting Jane’s weight.
"Get up," the warrior hissed. He grabbed Seara by the elbow and pulled her up onto her feet in one easy move.
Jane immediately scrambled to her feet and tried to stop the warrior. "Stop it! You will regret this!"
"You should be the one who stops Jane. We come from the same pack; you should have supported us." The warrior yanked Seara from Jane’s grip. "You should know better which side you have to choose."
Jane didn’t know who this warrior was; this was the first time she had seen him, but he could be right, and they came from the same pack. After all, there were thousands of them in this city, and she couldn’t know them all.
But it didn’t matter, because Jane was not so close to the werewolf world. She rarely shifted into her wolf and might as well live as a human who happened to know the existence of the shifters.
Therefore, she had no loyalty to her pack. All she knew right now was that if they hurt Seara, Zade would go berserk.
She had seen how devoted he was to her.
"I have to say the same thing to you!" Jane glowered at him, but the warrior gave her a disgusted look and started to drag Seara away.
Some bystanders who saw this were trying to stop the warriors, thinking they were harassing the women, but two warriors managed to make them back off, and needless to say, they were all dominating and scary for humans.
Meanwhile, Jane was still trying to chase after them, and Seara had shut down completely.
Jane noticed the warrior was heading to the car on the other side of the street; it was a black van where two more warriors were waiting for them.
It would be over if they succeeded in getting Seara into the vehicle and driving away. Jane was very frustrated; she grabbed the warrior by his jacket and tried to punch him, but he could easily dodge the attack and instead backhanded her.
Jane yelped as she tasted blood.
