Chapter 85: THE ROYAL BETA’S FAMILY

In the evening, Zade took her to the royal beta’s building, which was located on the right side of the main building. It was only a ten-minute walk away from there, and although it was not as large, it was still considerably bigger than the average house.

Seara was getting nervous as they approached the building; from a distance, she could see there were three people who had been waiting for them at the front door.

"What if they don’t like me?" Seara asked sheepishly.

"They have no reason not to like you, Love. Even if they don’t, if you wish not to see them again, there will be no problem." Zade reassured her. "We can live somewhere else that you like and makes you comfortable. You don’t have to stress yourself out for them to like you. It doesn’t matter to me."

Seara was very nervous. She didn’t get along with her mother, so she didn’t know what to expect from someone else’s mother.

She had siblings, but needless to say, they didn’t like her either. Initially, Silas treated her kindly, and he even protected her from Brigid whenever she bullied her. However, in recent years, he became very cold and completely ignored her. It seemed he was done acting like a nice brother for his adoptive sister.

Therefore, there must be something wrong with her that made people dislike her. Seara couldn’t help but blame herself.

That was why she was very nervous now.

Despite what Zade said, which was pretty nice of him, Seara still wanted them to like her. She didn’t want the people who were close to Zade to hate her.

Moreover, from the sound of it, Zade thought of Caspian as a father figure to him. Therefore, it was very important for Seara not to mess this up. She prayed she wouldn’t be annoying for them and didn’t make a mistake.

Yet, she didn’t know how to do it.

If she canceled this meeting, they might dislike her already, since from what she heard, they had been asking to meet with her several times.

"Good evening," Seara said in a small voice when she stood at their porch. "This is for you..." Seara handed a cake to the woman, whom she was sure was Ace’s mother.

"Thank you, my dear!" The woman accepted the cake and then leaned over to kiss her cheeks warmly.

She had short auburn hair and a pair of beautiful hazel eyes. Her thin lips smiled sweetly as she wore red lipstick that complemented her fair skin. Leia looked so beautiful, and instead of looking like a mother to Ace, Seara thought she looked more like his sister.

Even so, Zade said that Leia turned fifty this year.

Seara was a little bit surprised by the warm welcome. She had never seen someone so happy to see her for the first time.

Somehow, her first thought was whether there was an ulterior motive behind the woman’s kindness. Was there something that she wanted from her?

But then, she reminded herself that she owned nothing. There was nothing useful that she could offer. It was not like she lacked omegas to run her errands, since Seara believed that it was the reason she was adopted into the gamma’s family.

Therefore, why was she being nice to her right off the bat?

"Don’t just stand there; come on in, don’t let the food get cold. I have asked Zade what you like to eat, and he says you are not picky with food, so I have tried various things. You have to try them all. Come on." Leia grabbed Seara’s arm and hugged it as she took her inside the room.

Meanwhile, the other two men, who were standing at the door, could only shake their heads.

Seara recognized Jeremy because she had seen him a few times, and the older one must be Caspian, Ace’s father. He looked like Ace, the older version of him with his copper hair, which was slightly darker than Ace’s old hair color. Seara still felt a little bit uneasy when she saw the color.

"Mom, you scared her," Jeremy said. He followed his mother to enter the house.

"Nonsense." Leia waved her hand lightly and took Seara straight to the dining room, where a long table full of food had been waiting for them.

Seara could feel the difference between this house and the main building that Zade occupied, aside from the size. This place was warm. It felt like a home.

Zade’s place was beautiful and artistic with a lot of antiques and relics from so many centuries ago, but it lacked warmth. There was nothing personal there; even Zade’s bedroom felt artificial. Zade didn’t really care about all the things there.

However, this house...

A few pictures were hanging on the wall. Most of the pictures were of Jeremy growing up as a child. Every year there would be a picture of him, and anybody could see all of them easily, as if Leia were so proud of her adoptive son.

She was not ashamed of him.

How nice it was if the Gammas’ family treated her that way too.

Ace was also in the picture, but not so often, and every year he looked the same. He didn’t age in the last twenty years.

"We don’t have many pictures of Ace because he doesn’t like it, and also because he is already old enough to be busy in the company. Moreover, if Jeremy’s human friend comes here, it will be a question since he doesn’t age," Leia voluntarily explained all of that to Seara, even though she didn’t ask.

Leia seemed to know what was in Seara’s mind when she stared at the pictures in the hallway.

Not only pictures, but there were also a few trophies and crafts that were on display. There were a few drawings from when Jeremy was little, but Leia kept them and treasured them.

Seara hated it when she felt a little bit jealous...
