Chapter 84: THE HISTORY OF THE LYCAN (2)

The pregnancy alone for the Lycan was already a blessing, since their birthrate was very low, which was one of the factors that had prevented their numbers from increasing significantly.

Therefore, having a daughter was a miracle.

When the werewolf found the importance of having a boy to pass their bloodline, for the Lycan, it was not the same, since they were immortal and preferred a daughter more.

"Caspian and Leia’s daughter was the first female Lycan descendant that was born in a millennium. That’s why it devastated them. Because of that, they took Jeremy in because he is a boy; they don’t want a replacement for their daughter."

Seara listened to the story carefully. She looked genuinely interested in learning more about the people who were close to Zade, and he was more than happy to let her know them, giving her a background story so she wouldn’t be at a loss when she finally met them.

Moreover, it was important for Seara to know the family tree, since she would be part of Zade’s life.

"But it means... I will grow old and die too, and you will... still be like this." The realization made her a little bit sad.

The Lycan was not bound by time, but the werewolf was.

"If I die, promise me not to be like Ace’s father," Seara said. She looked at Zade seriously.

He had told her that Caspian fell into a deep depression and wanted to end his life. He even lived alone for so many years, not allowing anyone to come near him.

That was a mild version that Zade told Seara, and she knew there was more to the story.

"Zade?"

"I can’t promise you anything, and I don’t want to talk about that," Zade said firmly. He was well aware, and he was not naïve enough not to know what kind of future they had, but he didn’t want to go near that possibility.

At least not now, because it would ruin the moment he had with her by fearing the future.

"Let’s have our time together and not think about what has not happened yet."

Seara smiled sweetly at him. "Okay." She knew what Zade meant with that. She then leaned over and kissed him on the lips lightly.

Zade was startled a bit, but he reciprocated the kiss carefully; he tensed up. It was as if he were on guard with the kiss, and Seara had felt it ever since that night.

And when she pulled away, Zade kissed her palms and urged her to eat more.

After they finished their meals, the two omegas entered the room again to clean up the table. This time, Seara explored Zade’s ridiculously huge bedroom.

"Don’t you have a picture? Like a photo album?" Seara thought it would be great to see Zade in a different era.

"I don’t really like it, so I have never kept one."

"Oh." Seara was a little bit disappointed, but she kept looking around the room.

Though it was still overwhelming, it wasn’t as intimidating as the first time she entered. If she felt overwhelmed, she could always go to Zade to calm down until she felt ready to continue exploring.

While Seara was wandering, Zade sat in front of the fireplace, lazily leaning against the single sofa and watching her.

"Was this house built so many years ago?" Seara asked as she watched the intricate sculptures on the wall, a feature rarely found in modern houses.

Everything about this house, from its structure to its details, told her that it was centuries old.

"This house is older than me, and there are a few constructions throughout the centuries," Zade said.

He also shared some of the history of this place with his mate. This house was once one of the palaces belonging to the Blood Shadow Kingdom. However, as a lot of things happened and the need for the shifters to hide from humans arose, they had to adapt to the current era.

Seara really liked this kind of story. She asked a few more questions until she found a guitar.

"You can play guitar?"

"Yes."

"What else can you play?" Seara brought the guitar to him, and Zade accepted it. He played a few melodies for her.

"I can play almost all the instruments. If you live for a long time, you will want to try to fill your time with something." Zade didn’t learn it because he liked it, but because he didn’t know what to do with his time.

"That’s amazing." Seara remembered when Brigid had a piano lesson when she was little; Seara told her mother that she wanted it too. But her mother slapped her and called her ungrateful, saying that she would be wasting their money.

"Do you want to learn?"

"Can I?"

"I will find someone to teach you. What instrument do you want to play?"

"Can you play piano?"

"I can."

"Can you teach me then?" Seara looked at Zade expectantly.

"If you want, I can teach you." He kissed her head briefly.

And once Seara became familiar with the room, she stepped out onto the balcony to take in the view of the entire estate. Zade’s bedroom, located on the third floor, occupied half of the floor. And from here, she could see the garden filled with yellow roses and several bungalows scattered throughout the residence.

However, there was one thing that captured her attention. It was the tall building that Neriah wanted to see. The balcony was facing that building, and now Seara could see it clearly. It resembled a watchtower—and it probably was one.

Given that this place was centuries old, it likely served as a watchtower in the past.

"What building is that? Why didn’t you allow me to go there?"

Zade came up behind her and hugged her. "That used to be a dungeon, kind of," he replied after some hesitation. "Never go near there at all, okay?"

Seara nodded. She was not going to defy him.
