Chapter 283: Black Swirl
Adrian immediately shook his head, " You know only those old clans and races monopolize elk trees.
If Meggie was present perhaps she might’ve been able to get her hands on some but alas." He replied.
Annie didn’t look disappointed as if she had already expected his answer, " We can find some later.
Right now, we have a few who want to go back to the human world, around 60 percent chose to stay.
According to them, they have nothing left for them in the human world, of the remaining 40 percent.
30 wishes to stay but they want to find their remaining loved ones in the human world before coming back.
The rest want to go back, I suspect it’s because of what you said, they can’t get used to living without modern technology."
He nodded, " That’s understandable, have Melissa’s people escorts them to the anchors, there should be one near here."
She nodded, " We did find two actually not far away from here, both lead to isolated islands though.
If they used them they would also need to transported to the mainland using ships, I’ve had Louis organise the funds for that.
I’ll send Athanathi to go purchase a few transport ships and but the islands as well, it’s best if we own them, it will make things easier."
" So we even have the funds for that? Without the guild, I don’t think we have any other means to make money." He asked.
" That’s true but we haven’t used the funds we had before, besides, human money is worth much less than black elk coins."
That explanation made sense, even if they were broke by supernatural standards, they would still be billionaires in the human world.
" Speaking of the guild, I was thinking we should rebuild it, the world is in chaos right now.
Two days ago, we actually received a request, somehow the news that we were the once who started the guild spread.
I’m sure we will still have mercenaries if we rebuild the guild, we can rebuild the branches later.
For now, we should just build a main branch here, we can talk to the witches to re-establish our partnership." She suggested.
Adrian thought about it, " Reopening the guild is not a bad idea but I’m not sure the witches will cooperate with us.
Not unless we can offer something they would desire enough to disregard the orders of the High Council."
She nodded, " You’re right and luckily we do have something like that." He looked at her with confusion then it dawned on him.
" We can sell them diluted versions of your blood, it’s ability to enhance bloodlines and allow others to break their racial limits is not something they can ignore.
Even amongst the witches, there are those stuck on their level unable to learn stronger spells and each new levels.
If we present them with this, they will jump to it like dogs seeing a bone."
" Have you really thought about this?" He asked and she nodded. " Alright, if you’re sure then we’ll do it."
" There are a lot of things to deal with, but for now, let just rest." She leaned her head on his shoulder.
They stood like that for hours watching the budding city below them. When night came they went to their room.
Annie drew a magic circle on the floor using her blood, " By the way, I heard Gluttony was seen not far from here, should we do something?" She asked while drawing the circle.
" No, let others deal with that, I’m more worried about Pestilence, if they’re anything like Famine then they’ll be an inconvenience to us."
She said nothing, he knew she was worried, Gluttony was a menace and many innocent people will die to her.
But Adrian had his own problems to deal with abs frankly he couldn’t bring himself to care.
Annie finished drawing the magic circle and stood up, the magic circle had a five pointed star inside it.
Adrian dropped his own blood on its centre and Annie started chanting, black mist rose and spinned like a tornado.
Then a projection of the demon appeared, it bowed its head upon seeing Adrian, it hasn’t brought its real body out.
There was no need, it had received the antidote not long after. " Have you any news for me?" He asked.
The demon nodded, " Yes my lord, much has happened since we last met, I now serve under another higher demon.
News of my service to you somehow spread, it started as a mere rumour but in Hell, that is enough.
The one I served tried to consume me to hide the shame that I served under them but I managed to escape.
Then when I lay at the edge of hell where even demons dare not thread, the Nameless one found me."
" The Nameless one? I think I’ve heard you mention that before, who exactly are they?" He asked.
" I do not know my lord, nobody does, the Nameless demon is old and powerful, so powerful even the four archdukes dare not get on their bad side.
They are always clad in pitch black armour with a crimson cape flowing behind them like a waterfall of blood.
The only thing I’ve seen is their eyes or lack of them, when they looked at me all I saw were swirls of darkness that seems to consume my very being." The demon shivered upon recollection.
" Proceed, what does this have to do with my sister?" He was starting to lose his patience and the demon knew that.
It shivered with fear, the last thing it wanted was to get on his bad side, it feared Adrian even more than it did the Nameless demon.
" There are rumours my lord, within the castle walls there are whispers of a woman under the tutelage of the Nameless demon.
From the description my lord, she sounds similar to the young mistress." Adrian frowned.
" Under the tutelage of the Nameless demon?" He asked because he didn’t think he heard clearly.
" Yes my lord but fear not, as long as she is under the protection of the Nameless demon, nobody would dare touch her."
" You’re dismissed." He sent the demon’s projection back to hell. ’ What would an ancient demon want with Adriana?’ he wondered.
’ Black swirling eyes? Could it be?’ a terrible feeling welled up inside him.
