Meggie thoughts about how to talk to Adrian, sending a letter wouldn’t really be enough.

She had a lot to say to him. ’ I can’t leave this hut, it’s suppressing the mark left by the Axiom and I can’t call him here either.

If I get anywhere near him the mark will activate, if the Axiom sense him even for a moment, he would be in danger.

I guess I’ll call that little girl over and have her tell him everything later, she’s smart enough, alright I’ll do that.’ she made up her mind.

’ Sister, come.’ she used telepathy to communicate with a witch, soon after a woman covered in dark robes appeared.

This was the woman who usually delivered her messages to Adrian, she was Meggie’s student once.

A dark witch abandoned from the spirit covenant, she pursued the path of necromancy.

A dark path of spirit magic and was cast out of her covenant left to wonder the world on her own at a very young age.

After learning her story, Meggie pitied her and took her in. The woman stood silently in front of Meggie.

" Deliver a message for me." She transmitted the message to her and the dark witch disappeared.

-----------------------------------------------

It’s been a few days since the war ended, today they were going to send of the fallen members.

This was the first time the pack lost so many members at once if those who perished during the sixty years apart weren’t counted.

They couldn’t find any of them since they lost all connections after their deaths for some reason.

The pack stood in front of the bodies placed neatly on top of wooden beds decorated with flowers.

Behind the pack were citizens of the city who decided to attend the funeral. Alex laid quietly at the centre.

The funeral ceremony for werewolves was neither complicated or long. However it had to be done on a full moon Adrian decided.

With the wheel above, they didn’t have to fear transforming and becoming berserk and so the ceremony began.

The werewolves howled to the moon, their symphony of sorrowful howls made even those who didn’t know the deceased weep.

After the song of howls ended, they touched their hearts. " May the moon embrace you. Fenrir." Said Adrian.

" Fenrir!" The pack followed as one. The deceased werewolves broke down into silver particles.

Those particles that glowed like silver fireflies rose to the sky as if reaching the moon.

It was a beautiful sight that drew the attention of everybody for hundreds of kilometres.

But those powerful enough could hear the silent howls in those fireflies of moonlight. The werewolves waited.

They waited in silence without moving a single finger until the moon disappeared beyond the horizon and the sun started rising.

It was only then that they dispersed. " There’s much to do, get back to your posts." Adrian commanded.

The werewolves split up and went to do their jobs, Sbu and Bred patrolled the border like their lives depended on it.

They didn’t want to be caught off guard if there’s another attack. Even those like Sanchez.

Who were usually in the human world decided to stay with the pack for now until things settled.

Adrian and Annie embraced each other in bed. " I need to prepare to break through to level 8 within a year at most." He told her.

With five level 8 hearts, he figured he would be able to reach the maximum amount his current level can contain.

He had planned to share them with Annie but she refused. Her argument was that the pack would rely on his strength than hers anyways.

So it was better for him to get stronger, she did bring up the question about the two human hearts though.

Adrian’s answer was simple, " Those who harm my pack are not one of my own, What’s wrong with eating them?"

Annie knew arguing wouldn’t take them anywhere, he genuinely did not see himself as human anymore.

Or rather he considered his enemies as prey regardless of race. At least he reassured her that he wouldn’t hunt Espara for their hearts.

Nor would he eat their hearts if they didn’t target the pack even if they happen to fight against him.

She couldn’t understand the logic but she agreed. She was just about to talk to him about assigning a new leader of the investigation bureau.

When Suzie knocked on their door. " Come in." Answered Adrian. Suzie walked in followed by a witch.

" Greetings child of blood." The witch greeted.

" It’s you, did Meggie send you again?" Adrian asked with a tired voice. The witch nodded.

" Indeed, sister sent me to summon her." She pointed at Annie.

" Alright we’ll see her soon." Annie agreed.

The witch shook her head, " I’m afraid her message was clear, the child of blood is not to come, you must come alone."

Annie was confused, " Why?" She asked.

" I do not know, you can ask her when you see her." The witch answered.

Annie tried ringing argue, " Alright, she’ll go." Adrian answered stopping her.

" Why’d you agree, that woman can keep avoiding you Adrian, What’s the longest time she’s spent with you so far?" Annie sounded annoyed.

" She must have her reasons, don’t we have our own?" He asked her, she got quiet and pouted.

" Fine, I’ll come find her tomorrow." She told the witch.

" I’m afraid you must come along now, it’s quite urgent." Responded the witch.

" It’s fine, go, when you see her, ask her if she remembers her daughter." Said Adrian to Annie.

He was certain now that Meggie was his biological mother but he still couldn’t figure out how that’s possible.

He still had memories of his childhood and his mother Margaret, no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t fit Meggie there.

There were no gaps for her to occupy which was the most confusing thing but considering how powerful of a witch Meggie is.

He figured she must’ve done something to his memories, he also had suspicions about his late father.

He didn’t even remember the funeral or where the grave is, that man was even more mysterious than Meggie.

Annie kissed him then took the witch’s hand and they disappeared. " Forgive me, I cannot teleport far."

She teleported them thousands of kilometres away but they were not even close to Meggie’s hut.

" It’s fine, we can travel the rest of the way." They flew through the sky like two streaks of light.

They were traveling at supersonic speed yet it still took them a few days to reach the hut.

" Hello." Meggie greeted Annie and tried to hug her but Annie pulled back.

" Tell me, why do you keep avoiding your son!" She asked.

Meggie smiled sadly, " Because I don’t want him to die, sit down, I’ll explain everything."
