Chapter 318: Morgana’s Past (2)
" Be clear." Annie demanded. Meggie made them tea then sat opposite Annie.
" I suppose I should start from the beginning, in the old era, a human woman gave birth to nine children.
The old era was quite chaotic, so her village was attacked and all the men and boys were murdered leaving only women.
This woman would go on to become the old mother, the first witch. She studied ancient magic.
Her and the rest of the women were taken as captures and as for what happened to them, I think you can guess.
Unfortunately 4 of her 9 daughters were old enough and experienced the horrors she did.
This was before the rise of the first Espera Adam and Eve, humans were still very weak in comparison to other races.
However they had learnt to use two types of magic, occult and theurgy, both which required them to borrow power.
Occult borrowed the power of relics to channel power, theurgy was sacrificial magic.
This woman used theurgy to summon a creature from another realm but instead of borrowing its power.
She trapped it inside herself turning it into her power, this was dangerous but she was a desperate mother.
Using its power she copied the abilities of other races and created 9 new types of magic.
To use said magic there were two requirements, have her blood and beard female.
She didn’t do this intentionally, it was the results of all her accumulation, the magic was bound to her womb.
As such, one needed not only her blood but a womb to use it, she gave each of her daughters one of the nine magic types.
Thus born were the nine covenants and amongst them was one called Nimue, the youngest of the siblings.
The little baby girl they all sought to protect, when everything happened, she was merely a baby from what she told me.
So her distrust for men was not as strong as her sisters, they mated to give birth then left the man when they got pregnant.
However she, she fell in love, thousands of years later, long after the old era ended and the 12 clans of the round table rose to power.
She fell in love with a man called Uther Pendragon, a young Espara rising to power, known as the strongest of his clan.
Her sisters objected but you are in love, if your family told you to leave Adrian, what would you do?" Meggie asked.
" Cut them off." Annie answered without even thinking about it.
" Exactly so that what she did and around 14 thousand years ago, she gave birth to two children.
Twins, the first born was a boy with golden hair like his father and the second was a girl who took her black hair and eyes.
These twins were named Arthur and Morgana Pendragon."
Annie froze, " That’s you? You have a twin brother?" She asked.
Meggie nodded, " Normally we don’t have last names as witches but my father’s strength was acknowledged.
Even if the other witches didn’t like it, they accepted that he was their equal and me taking his name was acceptable.
The Pendragon clan is quite powerful after all, one of the two strongest of the 12 clans."
" Wait, you keep mentioning the 12 clans but aren’t there 11?" Annie asked.
" No, there were 12, but they feared one of them and conspired to wipe them out, let me continue, I’ll explain everything.
You see, because of how strong that blood is, my brother did not become a warlock but became an Espara.
I on the other hand became a witch since I was a girl, as strong as the Pendragon blood was.
It wasn’t superior nor inferior to the blood of one of the nine daughters. But that’s where the issue came.
My father was a very prideful man and believed the Pendragon blood stood above all.
As such he favoured my brother, even turned him against mother little by little. Mother naturally protected me from him.
However one day she suddenly fell in and died." Said Meggie with emotions.
" Fell ill? Wasn’t she a demigod?" Annie asked.
" She was, but just any Demigod but she was also the leader of the alchemy covenant.
She would be the last to die to sickness, my mother was murdered and I think it’s my father who did it.
By that point I was already old enough, I sneaked out of that clan and left, conflict started between them and the witches.
The witches took me in, I was still one of their own. I grew up then met a man, a handsome man." She smiled.
" He was the last member of the Lunar clan, the only ones powerful enough to challenge the Pendragon clan.
We fell in love and I fell pregnant 2 000 years later after we got married, by that point we were both Demigods, that was 12 thousand years ago."
" Wait, you had a child before Adrian, why had I never heard of that?" Annie asked sounding surprised.
Meggie giggled, " You’re just as impatient as he is, no, that child was Adrian." Meggie explained, Annie looked confused.
" When I was pregnant with him, I received a revelation from mother Anyx, Adrian was surrounded by a cloud of darkness and rivers of blood.
She also told me he was glowing like a silver moon in a sea of chaos, I didn’t know what any of that meant, I had studied divination magic myself.
But I was still nowhere near as good as mother Anyx."
" Mmm that sounds like it’s talking about him being a werewolf, the silver moon, but didn’t he awaken that by chance?"
" It was always his destiny, I do not understand much either but my pregnancy with him started a war.
Both the High council and organisation tried to kill him because they were told by the Axiom that he would bring calamity to the world.
Me and his father faught but we weren’t strong enough, not by ourselves, his father fought both my father and brother and was defeated.
So in desperation I broke the first seal intending to end the entire world to save my child, now that I think about it, it was quite foolish." Meggie giggled.
" Anyways, you know most of that history but what you don’t know is, a demon saved the world, one who calls themselves the Nameless demon.
They sealed my womb, freezing my pregnancy and told me it wasn’t time yet, I didn’t understand back then but now I do.
If I had given birth in that era, Adrian never would’ve became a werewolf, destiny was yet to align.
So I gave birth 12 thousand years later to a beautiful healthy boy, except he had neither mine nor his father’s powers.
He was just a normal child, still we were glad because that meant he would be safe and so would we.
We were wrong and everything came back when I gave birth to my daughter."
