Chapter 293: Terrifying Monsters
The vampire turned his head looking behind him, the young woman followed his eyes and saw a man approaching them.
The man had short black hair, grey eyes and looked quite handsome. He was dressed like a biker with a leather jacket and shades on his forehead.
His steps were steady and oozing with confidence as if everything was under his control while carrying what looked like a pack of peanuts.
This gave the young woman hope, she had been absorbed into the fantasy of vampires after the surge of supernatural movies.
Some people claimed the virus that wiped out most of humanity and other lifeforms in the recent years was caused by supernatural entities.
Others even claimed to have come in contact with the supernatural including ghosts.
Others claimed to have seen wolfman type monsters, there were even a few claiming to have been in another world where the supernatural lived.
They claimed to have been rescued by these wolfman and taken to their silver castle that shined like a moon.
Of course most people did not believe that, especially since the government didn’t bother denying those claims.
People knew that when the government got involved to deny something, then it was most likely true.
However as a result of these rumours, movies and novels involving the supernatural came like a flood.
There had always been fairytales of the supernatural, especially vampires who were painted as blood sucking beautiful monsters.
She alongside some of her classmates got obsessed with vampires so when she met a man who claimed to be one.
She was immediately smitten even though she knew he was most likely lying, that was until he showed her some of his powers.
Well he claimed he was too young to have powers yet and not all vampires had them but he lifted a car and showed his fangs.
She knew that even if he wasn’t a vampire, he definitely wasn’t human because no human can lift a car.
Then when he showed his fangs, she was finally convinced. He had made grandiose promises to her.
That he would turn her and they would live forever in a magnificent castle surrounded by servants.
She has believed him, the high of meeting a supernatural combined with the romantic fantasies of a teenager made her believe him.
But when he started draining his blood, she knew he had lied, she felt herself losing strength and consciousness and knew she was dying.
So when she heard that stranger’s voice, a glimmer of hope bloomed in her heart but it wasn’t long before she despaired again.
While the man was handsome and looked like he could hold his own against other men, this was a vampire.
A creature powerful enough to lift a car even if briefly, yet the man showed no fear and from his words, knew this was a vampire.
The vampire let her go and turned towards the new comer. " Who are you?" It asked, the man threw a few nuts in his mouth and started chewing.
Seconds passed. " Please help me." She tried to scream but her voice came out weak.
Her legs wobbled and she fell on the cold floor, regret overcame her, she replayed everything that got her here.
A new hatred for vampires blossomed in her heart, the romantic fantasies she once had were long gone.
The change in her feelings would be sterling to one who didn’t know she had almost died from a vampire.
Possibly could still die, she forced herself to remain conscious and listened closely to the two men.
After the new man was done chewing, he looked down at her but there was nothing in his eyes.
Not contempt, not love it pity, she had a feeling he saw her as no more than a rat but strangely she didn’t feel insulted.
Then he turned his eyes to the vampire, " I take back what I said, it seems you have to go through a lot of trouble to feed.
The organisation isn’t letting you feed on the already low population of humans is it? If your race didn’t suck I might’ve pitied you.
Something I don’t understand though, I know Gadra blood isn’t satisfying but Herbiyera’s blood should no? In fact isn’t it better than mortal human’s blood? Why go to such trouble?"
His words confused her but it appeared the vampire understood, his face twisted with rage and what she could only describe and indignation.
" That’s none of your business, I’ll ask you for the last time, who the hell are you and how dare you disturb my meal?"
The vampire hissed showing his fangs and claws. Instead of fear the man merely sniffed the air with a hint of disgust.
" I wasn’t sure since esper signatures can be hidden but you don’t smell that old, let me guess, you’re no more than 40 years old aren’t you?
Or I see now, most Fayera especially herbiyera rarely leave their villages or cities in these troubled times.
You can’t feed on them without risking your life can you and your senior vampires aren’t willing to help you, your kind are a selfish bunch after all."
The vampire hissed even louder and lunged, ever since he became a superior race of a vampire.
He had never been disrespected like this by anybody except older vampires and the mighty nobles.
He had hope of being a noble himself one day, after all, his own creator and master was once a plebian like him nor more than 90 years ago.
All the woman saw was a red blur and the vampire was already in front of the man, she grew terrified.
She couldn’t imagine any human dealing with such a monster but what she saw next confused her.
The vampire she had deemed undefeatable was struggling with his feet dangling in the air.
The man was casually choking the vampire with a single hand while eating peanuts with the others.
" Should I cut off your head? No that’s too messy, ripping out your heart will just dirty my hand.
It’s not like your weak heart would have any use for me, you know? I’ve never killed a vampire using a stake before, I wonder how that works."
The vampire struggled harder, " You..I know what you are, you’re a werewolf, what is your abominable race doing here?" The vampire sounded terrified.
She didn’t know what a werewolf was, there were no stories or movies about them then she remembered the rumours.
’ The wolfman.’ but no matter how hard she looked, this handsome man did not look like a wolf at all.
Suddenly the man took a step back as if terrified but he wasn’t looking at the vampire, he was looking behind her.
She was too weak to turn her head but based on his reaction, she knew something even more terrifying was behind her.
The man suddenly went on one knee, he threw the vampire to the wall and bowed his head low not daring to look up.
