Chapter 264: Battle Of Gods
The overwhelming urge to consume disappeared, the people looked around and noticed what they had done.
The tears came, Annie looked down on them with pity but Adrian and Cassiel had no reactions.
They flew to the tallest building in the city and smelled something cooking as soon as they got there.
Famine’s authority was incredibly weak around Gluttony, even so, food still doesn’t last very long.
But it last long enough to people to have a feast. They flew into the building and found Gluttony cooking.
There was everything, animals, vegetables, Fayera and even human meat. Even Adrian’s face twisted with disgust.
Annie looked furious, Beelzebub turned towards with a smile. " Cassiel, how nice to see you, would you care for a feast?" She offered.
" Well thank you, that’s awfully kind of you Beelzebub but does it not go against your nature?" Cassiel asked.
" Not at all, I’m not Greed you know, I just like eating and want everybody to eat their full, is that so bad?" Beelzebub sounded genuine.
But they knew this was a trick, Demons were pathological liars. " It seems they’ve had more than their fill." Annie answered coldly.
Beelzebub giggled, " So it would seem." Her voice was still soft and carried a motherly aura.
" We’re wasting time talking to her." Adrian growled and his body changed transforming into a silver werewolf more than 3 metres tall.
Annie followed, her werewolf was smaller and more hunched, her domain spread out covering a radius of 10 kilometres.
Cassiel didn’t attack, she took out her sigil and held it up. The sigil released blinding light.
A moment later, a faint light aura surrounded Beelzebub, the kind and playful smile on her face disappeared.
She pulled out a black fork and knife out of thin air then a small black mouth appeared floating next to her, the mouth released a faint aura and tried to push the light aura surrounding her away.
Cassiel giggled, " My dear Beelzebub, do you truly believe you can fight me with just that knock-off?
Without your real sigil, you are not a match for me dear, surrender and save yourself the pain."
Adrian finally understood why this seraphim felt stronger than the promotional demon of sin.
The sins didn’t have their true sigils, considering they had been sealed for eons, Adrian believed the sigils might be sealed in heaven.
Still, even without their true sigils, their power was not something he can underestimate.
Adrian moved, his body blurred and appeared next to Beelzebub. His claws cut through the air like it was cloth.
Clang, he clashed with the silver knife, the shockwave cracked the entire building causing it to crumble.
Annie used her telekinesis and moved all the souls who were still alive in the vicinity of the building.
’ Take care of this.’ she sent him a pack call and flew out. The people in the city saw a blur in the sky.
The next moment they were flying through the air while being held by an invisible force, they screamed and struggled to no avail.
A moment later, an explosive sound echoed inside the city, a shockwave carrying debris crashed towards them like a tsunami.
They panicked and screamed, fortunately they were flying faster than the shockwave so they managed to escape.
They landed dozens of kilometres away from the city on top of a barren mountain, the mountain wasn’t always like this.
A few years ago, it was lush green mountain with tall trees and small animals everywhere, but now, all that was left were rocks and sand.
The people looked terrified and sad, some had lost their families in the chaos that had just happened.
The human population was already very low, Famine had killed most of them so most people here only had a single family member left.
Now, some had lost even those and their will to live was dwindling with each moment, all they felt was despair.
They looked back at the city being destroyed, streaks of light flew across the city faster than they can react.
The shockwaves were so powerful they spread even towards them. Even those who wished to die panicked when death was so close.
Suddenly a black wolf appeared in front of them, the wolf was too large, unreasonably huge.
The Espara and Fayera who were present stood defensively watching this wolf with caution.
They were too low ranked in the supernatural world to know about the werewolves.
" Stay here and don’t panic, you’ll be fine." They heard a feminine voice from the wolf, the Espara and Fayera calmed down a bit.
But the normal humans started screaming and scrambling to run away but an invisible barrier stopped.
They banged on the barrier to escape but gales of heavy winds blew around them picking up giant stones weighing tons.
They all knew if they went out there, they would die. The world around them shook like there was an earthquake but the mountain stood still.
They all realised, this wolf was protecting them somehow, then they remembered the invisible force that took them out of the city.
Knowing there was nothing they can do and this wolf didn’t seem to have any intentions of harming them, they calmed down.
They still kept a distance and most were sobbing quietly. " AWOOOOO!" They heard a loud howl in the city.
A beam of silver light descended from sky blinding all of them. A giant black mouth appeared and devoured the light.
As soon as they saw that mouth they shivered not knowing why they felt such fear towards it.
Bang bang bang, sounds louder than nuclear explosions came one after another shaking them to the core.
Silver and black light collided over and over again causing devastation beyond anything they’ve every imagined.
The world for as far as they could see was ravaged by heavy winds and earthquakes, large cracks formed on the ground spreading for hundreds of kilometres.
Canyons formed around them yet the mountain stood tall. BOOOOOM, the barrier around the shook and so did the mountain.
Those who were standing lost their footing, a crack appeared in the air, or rather the invisible barrier around them.
A silver wolf man covered in blood stood up and looked at the black wolf standing in front of them.
" I can’t help you while I’m protecting these people." The black wolf spoke and the silver wolf man nodded.
" It’s fine, I can deal with her, Cassiel is still suppressing her devouring ability, my attacks work."
As soon as he said that he moved, all they saw was a silver beam of light moving so fast it reached the city before they could blink.
A sonic boom came much later, fortunately the barrier minimised the sound they heard or their eardrums would’ve shattered.
All the humans wondered the same thing, Was this a battle of Gods?
