The dark pushed harder. The platform trembled. Thin cracks of blackness opened across the gold sheen and sealed again under the steady imprint of the mark.

’One more step. Then the origin is mine.’

A shape separated from the rising mass.

It was female, or wore the shape of one. Tall. Wrapped in tattered layers of ash-gray cloth that moved without wind.

Her face was pale and lined with old sorrow. Eyes the color of dried tears looked first at Levi, then past him to the five women standing in their half-circle.

The Demon of Grief.

Lucy’s blade rose a fraction. Serakel’s third eye flared. Isha’s slime gathered. Vespera and the Reverend Mother Superior shifted closer to Levi’s back.

The demon did not attack. She stepped onto the platform as if the gold light and the barrier meant nothing. The rising dark behind her slowed and held position.

Her voice was quiet and carried the weight of every loss that had ever settled into Neverland’s foundations.

"You five."

She looked at each of them in turn. Lucy. Vespera. Serakel. Isha. The Reverend Mother Superior.

"You carried his mark through the middle dark and the outer layers. You watched the witches fall and the remnants wake. You stand here while the origin itself is rewritten."

Lucy answered first, voice steady. "We stand with him."

The Demon of Grief inclined her head a fraction. "I know. That is why I speak only to you."

She turned her dried-tear eyes to Vespera. "Northern queen. You once froze entire courts rather than feel what lay beneath your stillness."

To Serakel. "You sealed knowledge behind your third eye so the grief of what you learned would not reach the rest of you."

To Isha. "You drowned memory in slime and water so the weight of centuries would stay soft."

To the Reverend Mother Superior. "You wrapped yourself in holy light and rule so the emptiness underneath would never show."

Finally to Lucy. "And you. Blade and loyalty. You cut away everything that might slow the path, including the parts of yourself that once knew how to mourn."

None of the five spoke. The golden marks on their skin glowed steady.

The Demon of Grief looked at them a moment longer. "The origin will fall. The dark below will answer to the mark the same way everything above it already does. When that happens, the grief this land has stored since its first breath will have nowhere left to settle. It will rise. Or it will scatter."

She glanced once at Levi, still standing with his hands on the throne, gold light pouring from the Sovereign Sigil.

"He will not carry it for you. He claims. He does not grieve."

Lucy’s snake eyes stayed on the demon. "What do you want from us?"

"Nothing," the Demon of Grief answered. "I only wanted you to hear it before the last layer closes. The rest is yours to hold or release."

She took one step backward toward the cliff edge. The tattered ash-gray cloth began to fray at the edges. Fine dust lifted from the hem and drifted into the gold light.

"Remember what you set down to follow him this far," she said. "The land will not remember it for you."

The dust rose faster. Her form thinned. Pale face, dried-tear eyes, and tattered cloth broke apart into a fine gray cloud that hung for a single breath and then dissolved completely into nothing.

No sound. No residual power. Only the empty space where she had stood.

The rising mass of pure dark behind the cliff edge surged forward the moment she vanished, as if her presence had been the only thing still holding it in check.

Levi’s voice cut across the platform, calm and absolute.

"Hold the line."

The five women turned as one to face the dark. Golden marks flared. Blade, cold, slime, residual holy light, and living eyes ready.

Levi pressed both hands harder against the throne. The Sovereign Domain answered with a final, concentrated surge.

Gold light exploded outward from the throne and the platform. It met the rising dark at the cliff edge in a silent collision of force.

The platform shook. Cracks of blackness opened and sealed in rapid succession. The continuous pressure from below peaked and then began to fracture.

’Now.’

Levi poured everything the mark could give into the dark glass. The gold light drove downward into the origin layer itself. The mass of pure dark recoiled, thinned, and began to break apart under the imprint.

[Origin Layer claimed]

The rising dark collapsed back into the emptiness below the cliff. The continuous pressure vanished. The platform stilled. The gold sheen across the dark glass deepened and held, permanent now.

Silence returned, complete and clean.

Levi lifted his hands from the throne. The Sovereign Sigil settled into a steady, powerful pulse under his robe. Every mark on the five women flared once in answer and then calmed.

He looked at them. Lucy. Vespera. Serakel. Isha. The Reverend Mother Superior. The words of the Demon of Grief still hung in the air between them, unspoken now but not forgotten.

’The origin is mine. The grief is theirs to carry or set down. That part was never my claim.’

Levi turned from the empty throne and the endless black below.

"We are done here. The deepest layer answers. Time to return to the upper dark and decide what comes next."

The five women fell in behind him without a word. They crossed the narrow bridge in single file, gold light steady under their boots, and entered the tunnel that led back toward the claimed layers above.

Behind them the origin platform remained quiet and gold-touched. The Demon of Grief was gone. The dark below stayed down.

...

The climb back through the tunnels took less time than the descent. Gold light from the Sovereign Domain clung to the dark glass and black stone walls, marking the path as claimed.
