Chapter 391 - 336: Hamburger Meal
Dressed in her uniform, the Nurse Chief stood before the group, her eyes fixed on Wen Ying with a chilling glare.
The Nurse Chief wore glasses today, and beneath them was a bruise she couldn’t hide.
Looking at the bruise, Wen Ying couldn’t help but recall the loud shout.
"Nurse Chief, I sincerely suggest you get a new pair of glasses."
The Nurse Chief watched Wen Ying coldly. Her face was expressionless, yet terrifying.
"I’m serious. Woman to woman, I’m just trying to help you. If you don’t believe me, ask the others. The bruise under your glasses isn’t hidden at all."
For a moment, a flicker of panic crossed the Nurse Chief’s face at Wen Ying’s words.
But she quickly composed herself.
"You," she said. "Can you really see it?"
The person she addressed was a scrawny man, who trembled as he looked at the powerful NPC.
’This woman from Flower Country is a true warrior!’
’How could she dare say something like that?’
’But I’m just small fry!’
The man was incredibly anxious, unsure whether he should nod or shake his head.
"I, I..."
"Useless!" The Nurse Chief grabbed the man and threw him against the wall.
"You!"
"I can see it! I can see it!" the second man chosen to answer blurted out instantly.
He had no desire to be taken out so senselessly right at the start.
"So you were spying on me!"
And so, the second man followed the first’s trajectory, ending up as another splat against the wall.
The others trembled even more violently.
’It’s all that Flower Country woman’s fault! Why does she have to be such a busybody!’
’Does she want everyone to die right here?’
Thankfully, the Nurse Chief didn’t ask a third person. Instead, she turned to Wen Ying.
"You need a pair of sunglasses," Wen Ying recommended earnestly. "In our human world, they’re the epitome of beauty and style. Not only that, but they can also hide the..." Wen Ying paused, then continued, "resulting bruise."
The others didn’t understand what Wen Ying meant by that.
But the Nurse Chief understood perfectly well.
Her expression grew complex.
’If I weren’t forbidden from tearing this woman to shreds, I would’ve acted long ago!’
’The problem is, I can’t beat her!’
’Do I have no choice but to endure this woman’s mockery?’
’No!’
’She will pay the price for her actions, for her insolent arrogance!’
"Cleaner, your task today is to go to the third floor. If the guests there aren’t Satisfied, you will die a horrible death."
The Nurse Chief stared at Wen Ying, her face a blank mask as she spoke.
’I may not be able to beat her, but she can’t possibly ignore the rules, can she?’
’The power of the rules is enough to annihilate her in an instant!’
"And here I was, about to recommend you a pair of sunglasses. But since you clearly don’t care, I guess I’ll just forget it."
A flicker of emotion crossed the Nurse Chief’s face at Wen Ying’s words. She gave her a long, hard look. "Going to the third floor requires a written notice. Follow me."
The others watched as Wen Ying followed the Nurse Chief, the two of them gradually disappearing from view.
The surviving veterans and the newcomers all began whispering among themselves.
"Where the hell did that woman come from? How can she be so gutsy?"
"She’s one of the Huaguo people. A complete psycho, but a psycho who knows things!"
"Who cares where she came from? Once you go to the third floor, it’s a one-way trip to the grave!"
*
Wen Ying followed the Nurse Chief into an office on the second floor. This wasn’t the bustling psychiatric ward office she had passed through the other day, but one belonging to the space they were in now.
Down the bleak hallway, heads would occasionally poke out, only to instantly disappear the moment they saw the Nurse Chief.
"Nurse Chief Zheng, isn’t the office on the *other* second floor?"
Wen Ying asked, giving the Nurse Chief a meaningful look.
The Nurse Chief didn’t speak. She just stared at Wen Ying.
It was like being watched by a lifeless puppet, an unsettling feeling that crawled under her skin.
"Ah, I get it. It’s a secret we can’t talk about. Shhh."
"So, where’s my written notice?"
The Nurse Chief sat in her chair, still silent, her eyes fixed on Wen Ying.
Wen Ying’s patience began to wear thin. "Are you planning on making things difficult for me, Nurse Chief?"
Perhaps sensing Wen Ying’s impatience, and recalling their previous confrontation, the Nurse Chief pulled open a drawer. She casually took out a notice and tossed it to Wen Ying.
"The sunglasses."
Wen Ying smirked. "If you want sunglasses, go buy your own. Why are you asking me? Don’t tell me you expect to get them from me for free? Surely not. You’re the great Nurse Chief, yet you want to mooch off a mere cleaner?"
