Chapter 460 - 361: It’s Me, Xiao Bai
Wen Ying arrived quickly.
Following the address Aunt Zhang had given her, she found the residential complex near the suburbs.
The complex wasn’t very large, but the grounds were pleasant. After they registered, the security guard let them in.
After all, there was no way the three of them could be bad people.
Wen Ying was young and pretty, and the two children with her were both impossibly cute.
How could people like that possibly be troublemakers?
After the door opened,
Wen Ying immediately saw a very haggard Aunt Zhang.
She looked so much worse than when they had last parted ways!
"Little Ying, you’re here! Quick, come in."
Aunt Zhang wasn’t in good spirits, and for a moment, she didn’t even think to ask about the two children Wen Ying had brought with her.
She just led them inside and brought out some cola and bottled water.
"I don’t know what’s wrong with your Uncle Zhang. It’s been so many days, I really don’t know what to do!"
Aunt Zhang sat down, her mood exceptionally low.
"Auntie, don’t worry. Uncle Zhang will be fine!"
Aunt Zhang nodded, but she still felt miserable.
Overwhelmed by worries and running on fumes, she had naturally forgotten about playing the host for Wen Ying.
"I’ll go take a look at Uncle Zhang first."
Aunt Zhang immediately stood up and led Wen Ying to see her husband.
Little White and Kong Jian had been silent since entering the house. They simply stood up and followed along.
Uncle Zhang was lying on the bed, looking as if he were just asleep.
Standing to the side, Aunt Zhang rambled on, telling Wen Ying everything that had happened over the past few days all over again.
"And that old man... of all times for him to disappear, we can’t find him anywhere."
Aunt Zhang sighed as she spoke, clearly a little resentful.
Wen Ying stood by the bed looking at the sleeping Uncle Zhang when she suddenly noticed a pattern on his neck, visible at his collar.
’This pattern... it looks like a flame, doesn’t it?’
"Auntie, what’s this?"
Aunt Zhang followed Wen Ying’s gaze and looked over, surprised. "This? When did this appear? I’ve been so busy taking care of him these past few days, I didn’t even notice. Could this be what’s harming him?"
Wen Ying reached out and gently touched the pattern.
The flame felt scorching, no, then it turned ice-cold.
It seemed to alternate between hot and cold.
Aunt Zhang stood by, watching anxiously, but she didn’t dare make a sound to disturb Wen Ying.
As she watched Wen Ying take a piece of talisman paper from her pocket and place it on the pattern, the paper suddenly burst into flames.
And Uncle Zhang, though still unconscious, had his face twist in pain.
But he still didn’t wake up.
It was as if the entire event happened and vanished in an instant.
A theory formed in Wen Ying’s mind. She turned to Aunt Zhang, and seeing her anxious expression, she comforted her, "Auntie, don’t worry. Uncle will be fine. I have a theory about this, but I need to verify it. It might take a day."
Hearing Wen Ying say he was really fine and his life wasn’t in danger, Aunt Zhang breathed a sigh of relief.
She had been stretched so thin lately, and now it was as if a heavy burden had been lifted, allowing her to finally catch her breath.
Only then did Aunt Zhang remember to offer Wen Ying a meal, and only then did she finally notice Little White and Kong Jian.
She looked at Little White and Kong Jian, full of confusion. "Little Ying, where did these two little cuties come from?"
Grandma Wen didn’t have any relatives—Aunt Zhang knew this very well—so these two children couldn’t be related to her.
They couldn’t be the children of her friends, either. After all, friends Wen Ying’s age wouldn’t have kids this old.
Knowing how important Aunt Zhang was to Wen Ying, Little White and Kong Jian were both exceptionally well-behaved.
"Auntie, I’m Sister Wen Ying’s younger sister, and this is my younger brother," Little White answered sweetly. Kong Jian’s bright eyes were fixed on Aunt Zhang as he nodded along.
"What good kids, so cute!" Aunt Zhang immediately went to the fridge and took out some snacks.
"Auntie, this is... Little White."
Wen Ying didn’t intend to hide the truth from Aunt Zhang.
"Little White? That’s a nice name, Little White... But which Little White?" Aunt Zhang felt the name was a bit familiar, but try as she might, she couldn’t remember any child named Little White.
There wasn’t one on their street.
How strange.
"Auntie, it’s me, Little White. The Little White from the hotel, the little fox~"
Little White blinked her eyes.
Realization dawned on Aunt Zhang, and she was inwardly shocked!
She remembered!
But that Little White was... a fox...
Or some kind of household god?
How did she turn into this cute little girl in front of her?
Aunt Zhang looked at Wen Ying, who smiled and nodded.
"It really is Little White." Aunt Zhang took Little White’s hand and looked her up and down dozens of times.
Although she was shocked, she could accept it.
