Dream Life

Episode 81: The Secret of Ruins

Tria Calendar October 16, 2016.

Near a small village called Hallockwood, about fifty km west of Doctus.

We arrive at an ancient ruin-like place as the silver golem invites us.

After the Golem went inside the ruins, me and Professor Kitley Erbain started investigating the entrance to the ruins, and suddenly, part of the entrance began to shed a pale light.

Ms. Kitley voiced slightly excitement that she was urging the light to "shed magic."

(That sure looks like it. Yeah, it feels like you're looking for “authentication.” I also feel the will to invite us in... I can't even think of the possibility of it being a trap, but it doesn't feel dangerous...)

Seeing the light, Liddy and the others, lurking in the woods, also rush up.

Liddy looked at the light and said, "Are you okay?," he said with a glance, "I have a bad feeling about it. Let's go back to the village for once," he suggested.

Beatrice and the others were also nodding to agree to Liddy's suggestion.

Mr. Kitley, who was excited, also regained his calm with those words.

"Well... it feels like you're rejecting us. Shall we go back?"

"It doesn't feel like I'm rejecting you."

When I squeal like that, I hear Mr. Kitley in a voice that surprises me, "How can you feel?"

"I can only feel the will to say," I want you to come in here. "Of course, I don't feel hostile."

She thought a little about my words and muttered, "So you're the only one invited."

"If you're good, could you investigate, of course, if it's dangerous..."

I just said it that far, and Liddy and Beatrice said, "No (it is)!," "blocked the words at the same time.

Liddy nodded at Beatrice, trying to hold me back with a rare, serious look for her.

"I'm just being rejected, too, and it doesn't feel dangerous. But I can't let you go alone."

I know they think of me, but it doesn't feel dangerous to me at all. It could be some kind of trap, but if it's a trap, it shouldn't make us feel like we're willing to question it.

"If it's a trap, you shouldn't do anything other than me that makes you nervous. If you want certainty, you should make everyone feel fine. Maybe it's just a trap trying to pull me in... no, I guess Liddy doesn't feel dangerous either? Then it should be worth a try."

Liddy says "But..." to my words.

I turned to Mr. Kitley.

"In the meantime, I'll put magic through the glow there. If it opens, I'll scout."

Mr. Kitley says, "Don't push it," but he smiles and nods at my suggestion.

As yet, to reassure the unconvinced Liddy's, I make a smile and slowly let the magic flow with my right hand behind me.

As soon as I began to shed my magic, my reaction appeared.

When I thought I heard a little noise called kachiri, the rock door slowly began to open with the heavy noise of gogo.

The door opens in about five seconds.

Inside there was a dull silver passage like stainless steel, with sliding doors visible about 10 m away.

When I try to get in, Dan stops pushing me and says, "I'm going in first," and goes forward.

Before I said anything, he lowered his gaze to heighten his vigilance and tried to enter the aisle at a slow pace. But when Dan tries to step in, he gets ejected as if he refuses. I tried several times but the results were the same.

Ask Dan what the situation is.

"When I try to get in, I push my legs back. That's awesome power too...... but you don't feel abusive. What am I supposed to say? Yes, when a little kid tries to get into a dangerous place, an adult says," Because it's dangerous, "like stopping... sorry. I can't say it well......"

Everyone but me will then try, including Mr. Kitley, but they will all be pushed out the same way.

"Apparently, I'm the only one invited. Once, I'll go to the door there."

Liddy and I still said something, but he reluctantly agreed that I was going to come back soon, even if it wasn't dangerous.

I pulled out my sword and stepped into the aisle in a position where I could always fight. There was no sense of being pushed back that Dan was saying, and I was able to step right into the aisle without feeling any resistance.

I said, "Apparently, it's going to be okay. I'll be right back," he smiled, saying so again, glancing back inside.

Inside, it feels like an old SF movie, and the entire metal aisle glows pale as it is illuminated by indirect lighting.

(It's like soldiers in white armored clothes are about to come out. If I come out, will I be saluted?

Just before I went in, I could afford to think about such boredom.

But when my body got into the aisle completely, things changed dramatically.

The passage should have been visible until about 10 meters away, but my vision suddenly swayed when I entered the passage, and the landscape around me changed.

I was slightly upset by the change of circumstances after a glaring moment of shaking. But he immediately returned to me and looked around.

The perimeter had instantly turned into a room of about ten m square. I was flown into an inorganic room lit up lightly with indirect lighting, just like the aisle.

I feel a slight rush and squeeze my sword hard. But I immediately reconsidered and decided to wait until the person who invited me in took some action.

Was it the lab where it was flown? It was lined up with inspection benches with things like glass beakers and test tubes, clean benches for culture, and equipment like a large refrigerator. And I also feel a slight chlorine-based smell like disinfectant.

(Was that entrance a dummy! Apparently you got flown in a teleport or something...... but what the hell is this place? Looks like a drug company lab...)

I thought there was no art just waiting for them to come out, and I carefully explored rooms like this lab to purchase some information.

Behind the room was a glazed compartment, beside which there was a door that seemed to follow behind.

I fished for clues at a desk or shelf nearby. But I can't find a single document, including a note. I had no choice but to explore the equipment, but there were only glass experimental tools and equipment like agitators, and there was nothing in particular to clue to. And they are neatly organized, clean rooms or no dust seen at all.

(Why did you fly here? As far as floors and doors are concerned, there seems to be biohazard control here. Why did you let me in a room with such a high level of safety, coming from the outside?

I approached the glazed compartment with doubts.

Inside the compartment was slightly darker than the lab and wrapped in blue and white light. And it was slightly cold inside or slightly frosted on a metal wall.

In the middle of the compartment there was a semi-cylindrical container made of metal about two m long and seventy cm wide. The top half of that container was glazed and I could see inside.

I peered into the container so I could stick it in the glass. And I held my breath unexpectedly.

Because what's in that container was a naked beauty.

The woman looked like she was in her mid-twenties and the nostrils that went through her dark hair, the deep face of the moat, on Earth, felt close to people from India to the Middle East. I couldn't help but hold my breath because of its oriental beauty.

(Talking about Mr. Kitley, this ruin should be prehistoric. Because this woman is ancient? Because it's a big discovery... and yet, why did you bring me in here? It shouldn't be strange to have a move...)

When I'm thinking about that, a man's voice sounds abruptly.

"What do you think, beautiful?

I held my sword firmly to that voice.

The voice sounded somewhat like a calming voice of bass, but it actually felt like it resonated directly into the brain, not from the ear.

"It's my wife's face."

Who forgot what I was gonna do, say, "Look?," he murmurs.

"Yes, it's an artificial life form (homunculus) that mimics my wife."

I was told that the complete human body was an artifact, and for a moment, I forgot this unusual situation and lost my words.

(homunculus...... not a clone? ……

When I keep my mouth shut, a slightly disingenuous voice hits my head.

'You don't seem very surprised... but is it already practical in this “world”?

"... No, I'm just too surprised to lose my voice... I'm Zacharias Lockhart. I'm an adventurer who was asked to assist in the investigation of this ruin, rudeness, and this facility. Can you tell me why you invited me in here?

its voice is' hahahaha! 'And he gave a delightful loud laugh.

'No, excuse me. I'm just feeling a little happy because you're so calm.'

So the voice regained her composure and went on to talk.

'First of all, I'd like to say I introduced myself, but I already threw away my name and body. I don't care if you call me right.'

When I'm silent, the voice keeps talking on its own.

"That's why I invited you, but my lab is about to run out of life. If the life of the lab runs out, my consciousness disappears, too. I wanted to talk to you a little before then. Well, that's why. '

(If the life of the lab runs out, the consciousness disappears? Is it a mental life form or something? Or did you just seal your consciousness in some kind of tool, like that?

That's when I realized I wasn't in a hurry. It's a situation where you don't get out of it and you don't know what they think. Originally, you should feel in a hurry or desperately think about getting out of here, but somehow I don't care.

(Calm down for some reason... maybe even have the art of acting on the spirit, but so far, I don't feel any danger... no, the Liddies should be worried outside. Do something, we need to get out of here...)

"You haven't been the only reason you invited me in. And my people are worried. If you need help, I'd like to get back out there as soon as possible."

That's what I tell you to do.

'Whatever the reason, don't worry about your people. Look at the wall on your left. "

When I turned left, there was a clear view of the outside whether it was reflected with a projector or something. That footage shows Liddy reaching out his right hand and screaming something, which is pausing like a still image with a pause button pressed.

The angle shown is somewhat from the top, and it looks like it's from the Demonic Crystal Stone on the cliff I climbed and checked.

When I pointed out, "This is a still image, isn't it," the Lord of that voice said in a surprising voice,

"Is cinematography already in use in your world! I thought Walker's information was less civilized... '

I realize I lack more calm than I thought.

(That was an inadvertent word. Surely if you're a person in this world, you'd be surprised if they just showed you a picture. Well, I'm not even supposed to use the word still image etc...... walker? You mean the Golem? You should change the subject......)

"By walker you mean the silver golem that guided us?

'... after more than a thousand years, it's not strange for civilization to develop... yeah? Oh, the golem... or so it seems. Walker is a generic research aid device, but if you say "golem," it doesn't even look like it. "

You're talking to yourself, you're squeaking bumpy. For that reason, for a moment, he didn't seem to keep up with my words, but his voice was back on track because I changed the subject and he regained his composure.

"Earlier, it wasn't a still image. If you don't take a good look, you won't know, but outside and in this lab, time passes differently. This one goes faster in time. Something like," About sixty times that. "

That being said, it hardly looks like it's moving.

(Even if this one is a minute if it's sixty times, one second over there. Can't help but look like it's moving after watching it for like ten seconds...... but what do you mean by saying the time passes differently?

"I don't know what it means to have a different flow of time?

"Hmmm. It's hard to tell... this lab is disconnected from the outside world, it's a kind of different space... can you understand this far?

(Is he a subspace? If you think the laws of physics are different, it's not strange that time passes differently. I can't say anything about the slow passage of time in the black hole... I've never heard of relativity, but when this happens, it's the world of SF...)

When I whisper, the voice keeps talking.

'Until this point I can understand… this lab is made within the out-of-phase space by the application of phase shift theory. The gate you went through...'

The explanation of the voice becomes incredibly difficult to comprehend gradually, but to the best of my comprehension, the theory of phase shift creates my own world, that is, space-time out of phase with the original three-dimensional space, and in the meantime attaches a modulating device called a “gate”. To enter and exit, they transfer by modulating the space-time flow between the gate and the original space and passing therethrough.

(I don't know, it would be like a combination of frequency conversion and filter at last. I can't follow you at all with my head on how you can do it... I mean, this space can adjust time...)

'... that's why time outside doesn't go so far'

(Even if I stay here for an hour, is it a minute outside? Then you can deal with this voice. Instead, if you don't mind the other side letting you out, you can't even leave this one...)

I turned my stomach and decided to interact with my voice.
