Dream Life

Episode 42: The Undead

Tria history October 20, 2018, around 4: 30 pm.

Dan still hasn't come back even though it's time for the sunset to loom. Davi, the hunter who went on reconnaissance with him, returned to report around 4 p.m., and Mark, the vigilante archer, returned.

He reported that Dan was scouting as far as critical as possible to gather information.

"I stopped you, but you said you couldn't find me alone... so I told you to give this to the hall..."

Mark removed the folded paper from Westback and handed it to his father, Masaias.

My father quickly spreads it and checks the contents. And when I finish reading in about ten seconds, I get a bitter look.

"There were at least five hundred skeletons, three hundred gools... and countless ghosts (ghosts) flew, and there were more superior species of Necromancers (specters)..."

So when you talk, you never squeeze out your words.

"A knight without a neck (Durahan) is not one, but three. From Dan's point of view, they're under some sort of order, too."

Upset runs to the Lockhart family fiends on that information.

Durahan is considered a quaternary equivalent demon and is considered less combative than Auga. But that's simply about combat power. Durahan with intelligence is often more dangerous than an unintelligent orga, especially Durahan, who leads the undead, is regarded as a third- or second-degree demon.

It is possible that there is a presence that can serve its superior demon, Durahan. In other words, there may be equivalent first-degree comparables such as Dragon and Demon General Ark Demon.

My father immediately ordered Sim Marron, who was good at handling horses.

"It'll be dark soon, but run me to Bogwood. The enemy is likely a group of over a thousand undead. We'll be at the castle until reinforcements arrive, but tell the head of the defense to alert the streets too."

That's what I'm going to say. I'm going to give Sims a request for rescue.

"Yes, I did. I'll tell him for sure, and I'll be right back," he lowers his head and tries to head to the stables, but my father says, "I'm sorry, but run to the barbecue," and shakes his head sideways.

Sim gives a full look of surprise, but my father doesn't mind it and keeps talking.

"Things dispute for a moment. Your arm and that famous horse will be able to wear a barbecue the day after tomorrow. Much faster and surer than leaving it to the Cawm knights."

Did Sims regret not being able to participate in the battle to protect his hometown, biting his lips slightly, but finding out that his father trusted him, he bowed his head again and then ran to the stables, "I will tell the Black Steel Knights of Barbezy directly".

Soon we will go down the Hall Hill with the famous horse from Caerm, and soon we will be invisible.

After Sims left, a reconnaissance team outside Dan's squad returned. They have also encountered an advance party of the undead and are rushing back. Taken together, that information is likely to bring the number of undead to thousands.

My father gathered those of the Lockhart family and the squire who was Lord, and began to talk about his future policies.

"It will be impossible to abandon the village and flee now. Even though there are few demons in the West Forest, it's too dangerous to run a carriage at night. Even if it gets damaged, we can't move behind it and the undead will catch up to us. Of course, walking is out of the question... there's only a castle to get here."

My grandfather snorts at the words as well.

"The enemy moves faster than I thought. Let's just intercept and make the best of it. Ghouls and skeletons are plentiful, but Ghost and Specter are no trouble."

There are about two hundred and seventy vigilantes, plus children under the age of fifteen in training, who stand above the average young adventurer. Including that, there are about three hundred fighters.

However, the walls of Kanga Hill are about a kilometer long and it is difficult to protect everything with that number of people. Also, even when it comes to keeping schools, mansions, etc. focused, the Ghost who can slip through walls is troublesome. Moreover, the specter, which can also be said to be its superior species, has a different intelligence than the Ghost, so it is possible that it will use tangled hands.

I communicate my biggest concerns.

"What worries me in particular is about Luna. Because she's most likely going to be targeted."

It would be reasonable to assume that this raid was aimed at Luna. Even if, coincidentally, a population of undead appears, the other elements are hard to think of at a time when they are heading straight for this village.

When that happens, the question is how to protect her. The Ghosts have easy access to the mansion, making it difficult to physically defend them and it is necessary to keep an escort with an effective weapon for the undead at all times.

"It's best to have Mel escort Luna..."

Luna's candidate for escort are four women who live with her: Mel, Sharon, Liddy and Beatrice. Of these, Sharon and Liddy are magicians, making them a valuable force in the Battle of Tabernacle.

What's more, Mel is the one Luna misses most. And because Mel is a swordsman, it's hard to be a warrior if you're going to castle. Also, if you enter the mansion, she is the best swordsman with an excellent Adamantite sword because it will be a melee. Beatrice is also there, but spears are hard to handle in the room.

If there was a problem, Mel himself would be reluctant to focus on Luna's escort. She'll want to fight on the front lines, and it's not a good idea to be in a relatively safe mansion when we're fighting. Sometimes it is said that it is difficult to fight alone if it becomes a longer battle.

I tried to ask Mel about the escort, but she still refused.

"I will knock you down around the mansion. So let me fight too," he pleaded.

In the end, Luna's escort was to be held by her sister-in-law Rosalie and her maids. Their swordsmanship arm is about level twenty. If the Ghost is the opponent, the Mithrill-coated sword is sufficient, but if the Specter and other superior species are the opponents, it is not likely that there is no anxiety. Just in case, by keeping him waiting in the Great Hall, he will always be able to accommodate either his father or his squire.

This time he protected Luna at the mansion and evacuated the villagers to school. There is also the idea of taking Luna to school and concentrating her power there. In fact, a limited number of people on the defensive side would be foolish to disperse the force.

But I dared to adopt measures to disperse it.

If Luna can be targeted, the school is relatively safe. We changed our minds that it was better than putting villagers at risk, even if they were somewhat dangerous.

Of course, the villagers' escorts are going to be put aside, and if the school is targeted, masters like Walt and Beatrice are going down the hill to support them, starting with their grandfather.

When the consultation with the squire was over, Bertram came to his grandfather with about thirty young dwarves.

Soon he wears a boneless metal armor, Armour, and a helmet with horns like a Viking. On your right you have a large combat hammer for use with both hands and you don't have a shield.

However, there was naturally a jock on the left hand side that should be empty. They all look motivated.

"We can fight better than the villagers, too. Order me anything."

When Beltram said so, his grandfather laughed bitterly, "Now we don't just wait for the enemy to come out. In the meantime, join Nicholas' squad," he ordered.

Beltram is right, he's more combative than a young vigilante, and he's got stamina, so long term combat would be a valuable force.

But I had no idea you'd let us fight them.

Weapon loss in a situation where the number of enemies is assumed to be high leads to a loss of ability to relapse into battle, which can be both life-threatening. Especially since they're the only ones who can fix a misrill-coated weapon. The blacksmiths are huge in the game against the undead.

That's what I really want to tell you, but Dwarves are a race that bravely fights to protect their people. I have an attachment to this village and am motivated to protect, not least, their beloved liquor. So I put them under Nicholas' command to protect the school from harming their pride.

Incidentally, the Temporary Workshop used during the castle is built beside the school, and the tools and materials are also brought in.

Although this workshop was built by a pond beside the school to use water in polishing etc. This pond is drawn in and drained from a moat built outside the walls, connected to the outside in the basement and a lattice is attached to the water supply and drain outlet. This pond was built for use as domestic water such as laundry, but in the worst case, it can also be used for drinking water.

Nearly an hour has passed since Mark returned.

It hasn't completely fallen into the dark yet, but the cloudy sky is stained from gray to black.

Light magic props are arranged and lit on the walls. We naturally also assume such a night battle, where we buy large quantities of lighting magic props over household objects through the Norton Chamber of Commerce.

Magic lights shine every five metres above the walls, creating fantastic landscapes.

Light magic props and cooking fires brought in from each home in the school ensure adequate brightness for things that don't go as far as daylight.

Larger lighting magic props are available. This is Searchlight, a searchlight made by me and equipped with a third grade equivalent demonic crystal stone. Legs on a chromium-plated mirror about a meter in diameter, which can illuminate up to five hundred meters away.

There are about thirty of these and they are placed in towers for air defense. There are many other small objects available that can be illuminated up to a hundred meters away, which are installed on the wall.

Using these at night makes it a beautiful landscape that looks like a nightcastle illuminating the sky, but now it just looks ominous.

After another thirty minutes or so, the bell rang at 6pm. The clock he keeps in the village's face, Gordon, has been brought to school by his hand, and the discipline rings a bell indicating six pm.

The sun has completely fallen and is surrounded by darkness except in Kanga Hill.

I was worried about Dan and waited for him at the gate.

In the meantime, a young vigilante who was on watch at an air defense tower near the gate said, "You can see the magic props of the lights!" He shouted out loud. I see a small shaking light as I rush into the outside through the fence. A peek at the telescope revealed Dan running desperately. He was exhaling a breath of relief before he knew he was safe.

"Dan's back!" and when I scream, I get cheers from around me. Check behind Dan, but no sign of the enemy yet.

Dan arrived at the gate as he was about to fall again and again.

"Are you all right! After a rough breath called" haha "to my voice," I'm fine. Immediately report to the Hall Master and his predecessors...... haha "he tried to climb more hills with his shoulder breath.

I climbed the hill with him as I lent him my shoulder.

When I get to the mansion, my father already waits, "Thank you," says Dan. I said, "Drink this" and handed myself a jock with water in it. Dan started reporting as soon as he drank it all at once, exhaling haha and saying "thank you".

"The number of undead is over a thousand. I couldn't count..."

Several times today tension runs among the squire in the words. Dan continued to report it further when he glanced at it.

"The confirmed undead are many moving corpses (living dead), skeletons" skeletons ", corpse-eating ghosts" ghouls ", ghosts" ghosts "ghosts" and necromancers "specters". The top species above the fourth level are Necromancer (Rich) and Knight Without Neck (Durahan). I could just confirm this, and possibly even more. And then I feel like there was the top species of skeleton, but I couldn't confirm it... "

Listening to Dan's report, I couldn't hide my surprise at the variety and number of them. But his report was still going on.

"... there was a whole demon I didn't know about. It's a black cape mannequin with a disastrous appearance. It's never big, but it was magical enough for me to feel it. I can't stop trembling when I remember now......"

Everyone there was losing their word.

"... I can't say anything because I pulled them apart in the light, but they should probably be here in less than an hour. Prepare for battle immediately!

Dan remembered the mysterious demon figure and seemed to panic slightly. He's already ready and should have figured it out to him if he looked around calmly, even though the sun is falling. I slowly hang the magic of mental stability on him. The magic stopped Dan from trembling, and his eyes became firmly focused.

"I'm ready. All you had to do was come home. Good luck," he says, turning his hand around his shoulder.

"Father, may I give Dan a break," my father nodded loudly, ordering him to "rest and eat for now".

Dan bowed his head to his father and walked out toward the detachment where we lived. Sharon escorts him.

Dan remembered fighting various demons in Doctus and always trying to be calm as a scout, when he panicked just because he remembered the demons.

(I'm concerned about the demon Dan saw. That much fear is worth at least one level... if it's worth one level, that's just a threat...)

In the meantime, my grandfather gives instructions to his servants.

"Non's squad protects this place. Perhaps this is the first place to be targeted. Nicholas' squad guards the school, and the others guard the fence. Hector leads the Archer with Guy to where the enemy appears..."

And towards me and Liddy,

"Zach uses a light projector to ask for the magic of shadow-stalk. If it works, the Ghosts might eat it. Lydia and Sharon support Zach. But keep the magic warm. Some mysterious demons Dan saw. I don't know what kind of hand he's going to use."

We were doing all sorts of research on the premise of coming after Luna. During that consideration, he wondered whether the possibility could be exploited for the enemy to perceive the power of the Dark Spirit. So I came up with the idea of using the magic of shadow displacement (shadow-stalk) to confuse enemies.

However, Shadowstoke is a magic that uses “shadows" and cannot be used until daylight. So I came up with the idea of using the light thrower I made for night combat.

The range of light is narrow and not as liberal as during the day, but if you don't have to move it just to make it appear, there's no problem with using more than one light projector. Conversely, it is easier to carry out attacks by magic or arrows if they are fixed in one place, so I think they need to be moved less.

This time I intend to attract you to the training ground west of the mansion. If it's a training ground, it won't extend burning even if you use me or Sharon's fire attribute magic, because it's easy to annihilate because there's no obstacle in shooting an arrow.

On my grandfather's orders, everyone immediately began to move. My mother goes to school with the wives of her squire, where she directs cookouts and first aid for the wounded. With the exception of Zach Sextet, the women who remain in the mansion are her sister-in-law Rosalie and her samurai Angie and Elena, her sister Serra, and Luna. Everyone can fight except Luna.

Thus the Lockhart family is ready for battle.

And 7pm. A report from the lookout wooded Museum Hill.

"Enemy attack! Many undead to the east! The meadows are filled! Enemy attack!"

My grandfather, who heard the report, ordered my brother.

"Rod, take command on the fence! Ghost doesn't mind leaking, but don't let any of the other demons go in there!

My brother said, "Copy that!" He ran out of the mansion with the magic props of the lights in his hand when he shouted. My father says, "I'll protect Luna in the mansion," and my grandfather nods, "I asked you to," too.

And he said to us, "Here we go, getting ready," and headed outside the mansion in a slow, confident foothold.
