Dream Life

Episode 60: The Queen's Thoughts

The night of the 30th of October, 318, Tria history.

Blacksmith Guild official Jonathan Water, plus Zack Sextet's face, was preparing for tomorrow's celebration. That's where Katrina Brentwood, queen of the Kaum kingdom, came to see me.

"I know you're busy, but I was wondering if you could give me a moment. It has to do with tomorrow's celebration."

Johnny also tried to be present if it had anything to do with the celebration, but the queen said, "I just want to talk to Mr. Zach," she said.

I know what you're talking about, but I'll admit the queen couldn't possibly talk in vain.

"What are you talking about? By the way, is it as Her Highness the Queen? Or as Kati?"

"It's as Kati," she chuckles at me. I guess Kati is more about guild or liquor than kingdom.

"I don't have time to ask you directly, but when are you going to marry Lydiane or Beatrice?

On a topic I had no idea about. "Eh, are we talking about marriage?," he asks back upset.

"Yeah, I'm talking about Mr. Zach's marriage. I was wondering if you were engaged to Mr. Lydiane."

I have no idea what this story has to do with tomorrow's celebration. Throw questions straight back.

"How does this story relate to tomorrow's celebration?

The queen gave a serious look,

"I think Mr. Zach would understand......" but he started talking when he nodded small.

"We are certain that the Rockhart family's martial arts will spread throughout the world. As Zach understands, having the blacksmiths on your side will keep things from going wrong. But what do you think will happen after that?

If the Blacksmith Guild and the Rockhart family become cordial, there will be no weird little bits left from the Empire City. I'll answer that.

"That's a limited story to the Lockhart family. Mr. Rod is married to the Lady of the Ladswell Border House. Theo and Serra are only eleven years old, and if you forgive your daughter-in-law, you're a little weak to bond friendship with the Lockhart family."

So I finally figured out what the queen was trying to say.

"I mean, you'll see a lot of candidates for my marriage. Trying to draw her into adoption if possible… I certainly didn't think about that possibility"

The Lockhart family's successor is determined by his brother Rodrick, so I'll be the prime target. My brother Theophilus and sister Seraphine are eleven years old and my youngest son Sophia has just turned eight. If you're a great aristocrat in Imperial Capital, you're not old enough to have a fiancée, but you're too young for anything in a knight's house on the edge of becoming.

Besides, what can I say for myself, I'm a super good property.

Not only is he cordial with the Blacksmith Guild, but he is also the head of the School of Magic. If you welcome me into adoption, not only will you be able to have a strong pipe with your Blacksmith Guild, but you will also be able to connect with your Mage Guild. It is also possible to emerge as a court magician.

"I have another point. The Lockhart family will do more than the Baron in this medal. I'm wondering if I could be a Viscount because both the Crown Prince and the Leopold Prince should be proactive in favor of the Rockhart family Viscount in order to make a good face for the Blacksmith Guild. Then it's not strange to be adopted by the Count's family, Mr. Zach."

I was also thinking that the throne would rise, Lord.

The Lockhart family became a cavalier class from the civilian to the grandfather's, but this time the medal is big enough to ignore such a fact.

Currently the empire is divided into three groups: the Crown Prince, the Leopold Prince and the Neutral. Some senior aristocrats won't be comfortable with the Lockhart family lord, but, as the Queen pointed out, it's unlikely that they'll turn the other way around.

Because, whatever the neutralists are, the Crown Prince and Leopold Prince are fiercely competing, so you should want some allies. Especially the Lockhart family, which has a trump card called the Blacksmith Guild, would want to draw in at any cost.

Considering that, it is unlikely that forces will appear to interfere with the Rockhart family lords, with the majority of forces actively agreeing, as the Queen says. It is inconceivable to be the Count, just as a senior nobleman, but I believe that it is only fitting to be a Viscount, as the Queen put it.

If you ask me if there is a demand for the second son of the Viscount House, it would be a delicate place, but in my case, there is a favorable condition that I said earlier, so I am not wrong about the story of an adopted son coming from the Count House.

And the queen grinned,

"It's an empire, so it's a countess stop, but if it's the Kaum kingdom, no one will complain about you joining the royal family. On the contrary, you are most welcome, the kingdom. Of course, so are the blacksmiths in Ars. Hohoho."

At present, there are no women of the right age in the Kaum royal family. I guess that's why you're going to be laughing.

Besides, the Queen knows it's a bad idea for the kingdom to pull me out when you think about an empire wrangle.

"I see that far. But why does that have to do with tomorrow's celebration?

My question was about that. Even if the Lockhart family were to become Viscounts, it would be months away. We don't have enough time to relax, but we shouldn't be so persecuted that we have to do it today and tomorrow.

"Oh? I thought you already knew... Mr. Zach doesn't think very deeply about you."

I reconsidered it with that word.

It is possible that the nobles of the Imperial capital will send in a beautiful princess to take it in against me. So far, even when it comes to being engaged to Liddy or Beatrice, that's between themselves. It would be like there is no such engagement for the nobles.

Even if I use my power to push it, unlike talking about taking up territory, I can say that I proceeded to talk in good faith because I am given a woman of high stature and beauty. Of course, I reject it with all my might, but I cannot deny the possibility that the logic of the nobles will come to grips because it is solitary.

Besides, only in this matter, the Dwarves can't really count on it. Because I might say they could have one or two more daughters-in-law.

So what's the point of talking about marriage at tomorrow's celebration?

That means doing it in front of the Dwarves.

If we declare our marriage in front of the Dwarves, they will surely bless us. In other words, the Dwarves of the Blacksmith Guild will be the wedding attendants. None of us, even senior aristocrats, would interfere with such a marriage. Rather, from the point of view of the higher nobility, there is no way to do so.

"What Kati wants to say is that if we declare our marriage at tomorrow's celebration, the nobility of the Imperial Capital cannot speak out. Are you asking the blacksmiths to be wedding attendants?"

"Exactly," the queen nodded loudly,

"But don't take a sweet look at nobility. Mr. Lydiane and Mr. Beatrice are beautiful women, but they are heterogeneous. My real wife could say she's out of her own house. So you just have to make Mel and Sharon your wives together. With all these beautiful and strong women as wives, it will be difficult to gobble, no matter how aristocratic."

I panic about that word.

"No, Liddy and Beatrice, anyway, Mel and Sharon..."

"Don't you two like it? And you know how Mel and Sharon feel, don't you?

I can't find a word to return to the Queen's pursuit.

Because I didn't think you'd be forced to make a decision here.

I have no problem with Liddy and Beatrice. We're both adults enough, and I've already told them we're willing to marry. Except Mel and Sharon, though.

"You won't be able to get married tomorrow all of a sudden, but I think you should at least announce your engagement. That way, we can prevent trouble."

"But isn't that counterproductive?," he argues desperately.

"Is it counterproductive? Why is that?

"If you marry four beautiful women, you think you're quite a woman lover. In fact, because in Doctus they made fun of me. So I was wondering if extra noble ladies would be sent in."

"It's easy to prevent that," the queen laughs.

"You just have to declare it this way. He said that he intended to marry only those who could fight with him, those who could be entrusted with his own back. They called me" The Princess Knight, "Mr. Rosalee, but I'm guessing you can't follow Mr. Zach and the others, can you? Then there's nothing you can do with a regular noble lady. Maybe a female adventurer or a female mercenary will arrive. Ho ho ho..."

At the end of the day, even as a joke, what the Queen says makes sense.

(What Kati is saying is not wrong. But can we decide to marry just because it prevents unnecessary interference? Isn't it just Liddy and Beatrice... considering Mel and Sharon...)

I was confused.

Mel and Sharon are more like daughters than childhood tames. Of course, I know they've been thinking about me for over a decade.

I don't know what will happen in the future. In five more years, we'll both be over twenty. I was going to take some time until then, but things changed dramatically before then.

Can I still suddenly apply for marriage at my convenience?

"If you're going to marry Lydiane and Beatrice, you should tell Mel and Sharon. Why don't you two ask me how you feel then?

All I could do was snort.

Queen Katrina Brentwood, Queen of the Kingdom of Kaum, called Otto Elwes, who had taken a nap.

"I apologize for the rest of the day, but I have a favor to ask of Sir Elwes"

The young Elwes had recovered to some extent with a few hours of hypnotic sleep and the healing magic of Zacharias. She didn't look well yet, but she still has redness on her cheeks compared to before she took a nap.

Elwes leads the Queen to wonder if there might have been another problem with the blacksmith guild tangle on her face, but she never put it on her face.

"What is it like?

"It will be announced that Sir Zacharias will marry the two of you, Lydiane and Beatrice, at tomorrow's celebration."

Elwes is surprised by a completely different story than he imagined, but listens quietly without blocking the queen's words.

"So tomorrow, I want you to call in a Bogwood cleric. Make sure you have no problems moving to the wedding on the spot."

So Elwes could read the Queen's thoughts.

"Should I prepare the blacksmiths for immediate response when they are asked to do so"

The queen nods contentedly to the understanding of a brilliant bureaucrat.

"You're right. Or I have one more favor to ask. I want you to call Mr. Ulrich so that Zach doesn't notice."

Elwes is confused on the inside, not knowing his purpose. I found it even more difficult to achieve, and I answered frankly.

"Sir Zacharias is a brilliant adventurer, so I thought it might be difficult."

"Yeah, I know that. But it's necessary. This is important to see if the kingdom's relationship with the guild becomes a rock."

That's what the queen told me, and he figured out a way. It's about using Jonathan Water to take Zacharias elsewhere, and in the meantime, calling Ulrich Drexler. The timing is a problem, but I brace my belly that if I'm in a bumpy situation with tomorrow's preparations, I'll figure it out.

Elwes exited once and implemented the measure. And I'm surprised you succeeded easier than I thought. Zacharias wasn't conscious about something else, but he didn't want to know about it.

Calling Ulrich, the Queen made a request. Ulrich said to the request, "That's a good thing. That's Katie," he said with a full grin and headed to the training institute.

Having heard the story, Elwes did not understand the Queen's thoughts and expressed doubts.

"Regardless of Lord Lydiane and Lord Beatrice, isn't it early for Lord Melissa and Lord Sharon"

To that question, the Queen has returned a seemingly completely irrelevant question: "Who do you think Sir Elwes is the most alarming person in the Lockhart family?"

Although Elwes becomes even more questionable,

"Is it still Sir Zacharias? I've never seen a genius like that."

The queen shook her head, "It's a superficial view," she said.

"Mr. Zach is in no danger at all if the kingdom doesn't get its hands on him weirdly. He should be on my side while I or you hold the reins of the kingdom."

"Then who should I be vigilant about?"

"It's Mr. Sharon. That man is very dangerous... maybe more dangerous than the Demons"

Elwes seemed slightly frightened of the queen's expression.

"Certainly a genius second only to Sir Zacharias... if Sir Zacharias is not commanded, will Lord Sharon not be moved?

"It's sweet!" and the queen returns sharply.

"Mr. Sharon is a genius, of course, but Mr. Zach has more knowledge, and I can see ahead. But that one would do anything for Mr. Zach. Whether you paint your own blood or the world perishes... if that's for Mr. Zach..."

At that time, the queen was trembling heavily as she tried to hold herself tight.

"The hosting of the Dwarf Festival and the procurement of outstanding weapons, the construction of a training institute for the Blacksmith Guild and the subsequent establishment of a rescue system for the Knights of the Kingdom. It's all Mr. Sharon thought and executed by himself. Sir Elwes, you could have done this."

Elwes suspects the queen may be joking, but is convinced it is true of her frightened expression.

"I can't do it. But isn't that what Sir Zacharias thought?

"No, you don't. Mr. Zach would not do anything like this, even if he came up with it. Blacksmiths, you never do anything to annoy your friends. But Mr. Sharon isn't. That's why I'm terrified."

Elwes was also beginning to fear the Queen's words. She is frightened by that poor girl, who is said to support the kingdom alone.

"So I decided to sell my thanks to Mr. Sharon. Kingdom, no, to declare that I, Katrina, am not hostile to you. If this thing goes well, you'll all be grateful to me, even Mr. Sharon. You just have to feel a little hesitant. After that, we just have to show that we're never hostile to Mr. Zach."

For the first time, Elwes learned why the queen did not turn back to the king's capital when she heard of the Lockhart family victory and forcibly visited the village of Rasmore. And I realize that I've ever tortured myself to truly defend my kingdom.

"Be careful with Mr. Sharon, too. Zach is the only one in this world who can help Mr. Sharon. Sharon keeps Zach from knowing who you really are. So make sure you have Mr. Zach on your side, well, that guy can handle most of it if you give him alcohol... yes!

The queen raises her voice out loud and comes close to Elwes just grabbing her. Elwes stepped back on the momentum.

"What about the law of maintaining distilled liquor quality! If you put that into effect quickly, Mr. Zach will think that the Kingdom of Kaum is a country that needs it. That way, Mr. Sharon shouldn't be hostile either, as long as the kingdom continues to make delicious scotch! Sir Elwes, enforcement is possible by the end of the year."

Turn your gaze like the queen shoots through Elwes.

"We have already done the bill, but it has stopped for about two months pending approval by His Excellency the Marquis of Shergold"

The queen hears the name of the Shergold Marquis and looks slightly.

"Is that him again..."

Seeing the queen whining so, something cold flows down Elwes' spine. He was convinced that the Marquis would lose his legs before the beginning of the year.

"... the bill is in line with Mr. Zach's thinking."

"Yes. It just fits our national legal system. The original proposal I received was almost complete, and Sir Zacharias has advised me on the operation."

"Then as soon as I return to the King's Capital, I ask His Majesty to judge me as soon as possible. Sir Elwes will proceed with the process so that it can be promulgated as soon as the court order is issued. This is a top priority."

After a brief meeting, Elwes leaves the Queen's room. Shortly after leaving the room, Elwes slipped away from Sharon.

"I'm tired of being late. Is it okay to add or minus?"

I felt my spine freeze in Sharon's words with a soft grin. But mobilise all your mental strength to create a laugh.

"Thank you. Sir Zacharias has put a healing magic on me, and Mr. Water was borrowed, which makes it a lot easier. Tomorrow's celebration is bound to be a success. And to reward Sir Zacharias."

Sharon smiles adorably and bows down small.

"Best wishes. If there's anything we can do, we'll do anything (...), so you can always say it"

That's what I said and walked away.

Elwes was unknowingly exhaling a breath of relief. But ask her, the daughter of a squire, and why she slipped behind Lockhart Mansion.

(No way to monitor us... No, that shouldn't happen. We are not hostile. At least now......)

Though I think I'm overreacting in the queen's words, the fear I felt once didn't quite go away.
